I assume that goes along with no searching with monsters present...

The notes say that if you haven't found the correct door by the time you get to the last door then that final door is the correct quest ending door.

You're right, I'm playing with the app, but is clarified on the booklet

1) Do you tell the heroes 'these monsters are inactive' or must they find out for themselves?
2) Can the heroes search for treasure in a room with 'inactive' monsters? For example, room B of Quest 2 has an inactive elf warrior in front of the treasure chest. Sure, he won't be suspicious of disguised heroes passing through, but he might get suspicious if they shove him out the way to remove the contents of the chest he is clearly guarding. Yes, you could easily take him out first, but a hero might not have enough movement to get to him before making a search.

1)When you're disguised no monsters can activate, or better, the app don't attack or move, I think a "human" Zargon can move monsters if he wants
2)Yes you can searching what you want, because monsters are inactive

I don’t believe this is accurate. If you look at rise of the dread moon quest 2 notes B & C, there are only specific monsters that ignore you when disguised. If the quest notes don’t say monster ignores you while disguised and the monsters are not on the plaza tile then the monsters behave as normal. If a monster is in the room whether or not they ignore you based on the quest notes, I wouldn’t allow a search at my table. It would look too suspicious for a disguised hero to be searching the room.

Regarding the difference between ignore and inactive. A monster who is ignoring the heroes wouldn’t attack. An inactive monster wouldn’t move or attack. That’s how I would interpret it.

1) As I read the rules, when you are disguised the only 'inactive' monsters are any on the Plaza tile, and any designated as such in the quest notes? I think all others are active as usual.
2) Yeah, this is what I am thinking, but wallydubbs makes a good point that technically, although they are 'inactive' they are still present and the rules therefore prohibit searching. But the rules were written before we had the concept of inactive monsters, so an official ruling on this would be nice, but until then the original rules still apply i.e.no search.

I agree with this… I’m not sure a clarification is needed. It seems pretty straightforward to me.

Yeah, sort of, but as I said, inactivity wasn't a thing when the rules were written, so it is possible that no one thought about it. Not a big issue really as I think Quest 2, room B is the only location it could arise, and the odds are the Elf will be taken out immediately anyway.

There's some ambiguity regarding the Disguise use, so Zargon makes the call. Spoilers, but a few monsters it says you can silently kill without an action when adjacent in the quest book. Is this true of ALL monsters when disguised or just the ones mentioned? Zargon could take a minimalist or maximalist approach. Otherwise the other monsters will attack and fight with you as normal. You can assassinate individual monsters or specific ones identified in the quests. I chose to take a compromise, that you can assassinate any monster this way in disguise, but if one monster sees you attack (or damage or certainly kill) another monster, they will "see through" the disguise. Will they sound the alarm? They could (nearby monsters could activate). Making use of dice rolls to see if the disguise failed takes more time but it could be a way to resolve ambiguous situations. But a lot depends upon the quest. The first run through I'm trying to play it pretty close to as written where possible.

Indeed, and that is how I approach everything in HQ, but I do like to get a perspective on what the original designer intended before I take a scalpel to it all.

I think any ambiguity comes from creative, ready-to-home-brew Zargon's inserting things that simply aren't there. When I read "rules as written", I try to take them at face value without inserting additional ideas. The rules for disguises may seem partial, but when taken hand-in-hand with the instructions of the Quest Notes, I think it's pretty straight forward: "If disguised, this happens.... If the heroes aren't disguised, this other thing happens..."

As always, home-brew as Zargon sees fit, but again, I don't see ambiguity in the rules as written. It would however probably be helpful for explicit definitions of "inactive" or "ignore." But I think we can safely assume what those words mean.
