I'm assuming that AH didn't let any news slip about the other rumored expansions at Gen Con? We would have heard something by now right?

That's what I'd figure, yes. This lot couldn't keep it quiet if they tried...*Chuckle*...

Kurgan went to Gen Con and hung out with the AH crew so I expect a video about what they hinted at or what he was told outright. He did say briefly in YouTube posts that he asked them the tough questions so hopefully we will get some sort of update.

I’m really surprised they announced the Monk hero collection at gen con, and not something like The Prophecy of Telor, or Against the Ogre Horde. They are already having preorders for the hero pack months in advance, but Rise of the Dread Moon didn’t have preorders until a month before the release date. I find this a little odd. I was going to wait and order the Wandering Monk pack when one of these other expansions comes out (for free shipping). However, since nothing was mentioned at the convention, I wonder if they will have any more expansions this year like we were led to believe. I hope Kurgan was able to find out more about this stuff.

I find this a little odd.

That right there, folks, is the best description of AH's marketing strategy when it comes to HQ lol! They (or Hasbro) have not been great at having a consistent vision for the product. And I'm not talking about the fact that one HQ expansion seems to forget rules set up in previous expansions (unencumbered movement anyone?). I'm talking marketing. Just set up date and time you will announce stuff, announce it
And let us know when preorders go up and at what retailer, and give us a tease for a future product down the line (either outright tell us or give us a clue). Hasbro does this with all their figure lines and I feel there is a lot of crossover between Legends or Black Series customers and HQ ones. Similar marketing strategy would work I am sure.

I am sure they gave you some info off the record but I understand you couldn't tell us anything. But I look forward to hearing from them anyway (hey looks like you just posted one right now as I write this lol).

I feel that we should see something for the Holiday season, even if only a re-release.

The interviews posted on HeroquestFans' YouTube channel were all great. A couple of interesting points were Chris speaking about "what or who is Morcar?" I always thought that they could just leave the expansion title as Wizards of Morcar and let Morcar mean another part of the HQ world or another villain completely or something. That would be a great shout out to the old Euro version. I appreciate that he said they intentionally leave things open ended story wise but I'm not sure I completely buy that. I mean, I am sure that they are under deadlines imposed by Hasbro. So they may just not have time to make things perfect narratively speaking. So while I'm sure they like making it open ended, I think there's a time factor involved as well.

Glad to hear also that Sir Ragnar is basically Zargon's Destro or Starscream lol. That should qualify him for a villains pack release with his own ability cards.

They also touched on a DnD connected expansion which would be cool. But it appeared that DND Department is hesitant because of upholding DND continuity? That's crazy. An expansion in HQ would be a cool way to bring in new people to DND, especially how they messed up DND recently.

Other than that, we prettyuch got confirmation that Ogre Horde is coming and will contain extra stuff including new quests. I did like that he said they delayed their rerelease in order to do Rise, which showed how variable their time table is. That's a good thing in my opinion. Although I do now what to ask him if they would ever do an expansion requiring the base game PLUS one previous expansion in order to have all the stuff necessary to play the latest expansion. Would be crazy!

That's all the main things I noticed off the bat. But I may have to watch them a couple of times to really understand them fully.

With Path's release date confirmed, when does everyone think the expansions will be released? My bet is on seeing Telor and Spirit Queen releasing simultaneously in Spring and Ogre by Summer.

I personally would prefer Telor and Spirit Queen this Holiday season and Ogre by Spring, though. I could see this being a realistic possibility as most of the work is already done for Telor and Queen. Plus, it would be great for AH to have something in stores ready to ship in time for the Holidays.

My wishlist for Ogre Horde is giant sized Ogre furniture and maybe some rat or beastmen. It would be cool to have some type of beastmen as a teaser for (hopefully) a future release of Mound of the beastmen. Of course, there should be a varied army of Ogres just as it was in the og release.

For the furniture, I would like items that we don't already have. Maybe a giant cauldron of human soup for example. And even if they do tables and the like, they should take up a full six squares on the board. I don't picture Ogres using bookcases or spell tables very often though lol

by the way topplaymats on Etsy has a mound of the beastmen map scroll that looks great for.use as an Ogre Hord board. It's the same HQ board just with different graphics.
