You can also have two bosses to counter the temests :) the one that makes the impression of being boss and the one that is really boss.
You know that every real life boss has a bootlicker who plays boss himself, so why not Heroquest Board Bosses. :)

And Diablo, a french friend of mine introduced Heroquest to someone we know as "You know Diablo? Heroquest is the same as Boardgame." :)

I have 1d6, 3 point and 5 point potions.
I also divided them into tonics, which go bad after the quest they were found in (in the treasure decks and as specific treasure),
and potions (in the treasure decks and in the equipment deck), which hold up until used.
The points can be freely assigned to body and mind points.

whitebeard wrote:How do you handle the condition where a hero's body points may go negative? E.g. you have 1 BP remaining and a monster slams you for 2 or 3 damage.

My players have been taking advantage of the EWP by calling this 0 and then drinking a potion! I plan to fix this by tracking negative BP and even prohibiting self admistered potions / spells if you go negative.

We play where you are dead if you have 0BP on Zargon's next turn. But the question is universal.

With negative Body Points, monsters are free to further hit a Hero while he is down. That can make saving a downed Hero moot if the damage is greater than available healing. Is this how you play?

I don't have any EU play experience, so I'm now curious for the first time about how drinking a healing potion (or any potion) at any time is worked out in that rule set. It appears to be limited to before a combat with a monster, but it might be interpreted as allowed just before a defense, when BPs are removed. My guess is attack and defense are considered simultaneous by EU players, right?

Also, "at any time" might mean a healing potion may be drunk when a Wandering Monster Card is drawn and the figure is placed, but before it attacks. Since a Potion of Defense could also prove handy, both EU and NA rules are concerned with this instance. I'd be inclined to allow a potion to be used, as the WM must approach in some way as part of its placement.

No, but this is close to how I'd like to play. The typical monster, after dealing a death blow, would move on to the next target before it steps forward on the next turn. Mutilating a foe would happen if the room was otherwise empty though, so I like this addition.

I Want to account for the fact that you just got hit for 4 damage and with your 1BP, that makes you -3 not 0 for the purpose of healing. And as soon as you go below 0, you cannot self administer healing. We play that you are dead if Zargon begins his turn and you have 0 BP.

This change will better deplete healing potions which are carried between quests.
Has resigned from the forum and would delete his account if he could.

That's a good way to play with an experienced group. Working with negatives is intuitive for adults, so why not. I guess the zero BP limit was put the for the ten year olds.

For what it's worth, we've had several games with the "advanced" potions and they work fantastically. They also make the game just that little bit harder for the Heroes, better ballencing everything.
