*Rolls on Floor Laughing* ... wow... a YEAR old. I hadn't even noticed but I have a pretty good guess as to why that might be.
I just looked at who responded to the subject last and then replied figuring it was active. I'll watch more closely the date when the subject was started but in truth, there are subjects that run for years despite their old start date. This is why I try and get into the habit of editing and tagging my subjects as 'CLOSED' once I've gotten my answers and what not. It's an easier reference than the little tiny date and it basically tells you, subjects all done, no need to reply.

Because this has bothered me for over a year. I do not want to be an admin, but neither should Sjeng be. This is proof-positive of the fact that he puts his own moral issues ahead of the rules of the forum.

If I were the admin of this site, I would have handed Sjeng his ass for this.

1. He didn't know the site's rules off-hand.

2. He left the threat of action, but promised no kind of resolution.

3. He disapproved of a new user for literally no significant reason (at least that he knew of, according to the rules he didn't know).

4. He drove away a new user.

5. He didn't apologize.

You are unaware of behind-the-scenes communications via PMs about this situation. As such, you are presenting false information due to ignorance.

You are not an admin of this site. I am personally thankful for that fact.

When I was in sixth grade, my algebra teacher had a saying:

Well, a photographer from the yearbook group saw him one morning with a cup of coffee in hand, grading papers before first period, while sitting on the desk! (this was exactly what his saying was aiming to get the kids to stop doing)

So, the kid snapped a photo, and it ended up in the yearbook. I got Mr Rose to sign this photo in my copy. He included a quote.

"Do as I say, not as I do."

I never forgot that.

Not knowing who exactly you are including in "the rest of us" I can't answer this question. Any information contained within Private Messages I will not divulge. As evidenced by the fact that poopgrinder remained actively posting for two weeks after the year-old posts in this thread, I conclude that real life pulled him away, or he was just passing through as many formerly active members have done. I can't be 100% sure but those are the top two reasons I believe are the case. As has been suggested, you may PM poopgrinder and see if he returns and provides you with an answer of his own.

I disagree. Sjeng is super active and committed to the Inn, and he has been a great moderator, in my opinion. Upholding appropriate content with discretion for the whole community is part of the job. He never stated a warning was forthcoming, but rather suggested what he thought was a resonable way to accommodate a general audience. Though most posters of this thread are permissive about the humor, this doesn't automatically account for all readers. As for myself, I wouldn't want to bring up the word poopgrinder with everybody I know, even though the name might get a laugh from many of them. Ken once reminded me of appropriate content when I (yes, I) made an off-color double-entendre (joke),

His grandson was reading the forums at the time, so I don't think he wasn't out of line. Many of us have kids that may one day be calling TMU old man here at the Inn.

All that being said, poopgrinder still retains his name. I'm sure we'll be happy to hear from him again if he makes a number two appearance.
