However, I've been Googling and it seems it's not possible to buy for people in the EU? I live in The Netherlands and I can't even view the campaign page due to it tracking my location and redirecting me to the main page instead. Of course there are ways around that, but still no option to actually buy anything.

Any suggestions?

The campaign is long over and the game has been released to retail. I believe lots of people have purchased it in Europe, though distribution may be country-by-county. I know the Spanish translation has been released in Spain and the German translation has been released in Germany. I think the French version is out too. So it’s definitely possible to get it in Europe. Not sure who is distributing it in the Netherlands though. You may need to ship from another EU retailer.

Yes, I did find the English version on Amazon, the 2 expansions are sadly only in German. I'll keep looking.
Is there more on the way that you know of?

What language do you want the Expansions in? Because yes you can check the various versions of Amazon. Apparently using a VPN will stop the country detection thing. As long as the seller agrees to ship internationally you should be set. Don't pay scalper prices!

Various sites ship to other countries. Try Zavi... (change country at top).

Listed as "pre-order" (so more stock coming in):

Kellar's Keep: April 30th.

Return of the Witch Lord: April 30th.

HasbroPulse lets you choose Germany, UK or USA. I see what you mean, it's showing "sold out" for the expansions.

But it's a retail game, so they'll get more stock I'm sure (see the April 30th date above). Don't buy from scalpers!

Thank you! Zavi is a lot cheaper. I tried looking on Ebay and those scalpers are offering the crowdfunding sets for 700/800 dollars. I really hate those people.
Anyway, English is fine. I'm now probably going to order it through Zavi. As a new customer I even get a discount of 5 euros :)

How is the remake received overall?

Did I mention not to buy from Scalpers? ;)

Don't listen to people who list it as "ULTRA RARE," "OOP" (out of print), "LIMITED STOCK!" or whatever. It is NOT, it's a retail game now, like Axis & Allies or Risk! The only thing "rare" are the exclusive Mythic minis (not necessary to enjoy the game... those "new" heroes are a mixed bag and not really featured in any adventures... their abilities are easy to homebrew as they are all located in the playtest pages of the HasbroPulse HeroQuest site (the one linked to the pledge drive) and a lot of people think they need tweaking anyway. The rest of the extras are just gender swaps of various characters. The "crown jewel" of the Mythic set was the three extra quest packs, of them, one is brilliant, one is okay and one is better than average. Yes, there are extra tiles, but they are basically a tavern (check YeOldeInn for a cooler looking one) which has a "temple" on its reverse side and some acid pool tiles or web tiles (all used in one pack of 10 quests). These extras are certainly NOT worth paying 2x, 3x, 4x, etc the price when the Retail versions will give you pretty much everything you could want for the classic remake. Plus I think if you were to look hard enough, you might find the quest data anyway somewhere online and could homebrew it yourself...

AND, the retail versions of KK & ROTWL have nice black backing to their tile sheets, instead of the Mythic set which has plain white paper on the back. Interestingly the NA classic editions of these packs had the white paper backs on the tiles (since they were using thinner, cheaper cardstock than the game system)... while the EU editions had black on the back similar to the classic Game System tiles (like double stone blocks and spiral staircase).

Most people never had a chance with the pledge drive.

PS: The "new" heroes are also usable via the Companion App if you really want them in your game (Warlock, Bard, Druid). I repeat though, NONE of the "Extras" included in the Mythic set are required to play most of the quests. The only new hero that is even mentioned in the "exclusive" Mythic quest books is the Orc Bard where he's kind of a back-up character if somebody dies... and of course the Dragon monster appears in ONE quest (and most of the new tiles are only used once as well). Yes you can use these in your own adventures, but you can do the same with ANY miniature or tile you could find out there to put into your homebrew game.

The "sold out" limited edition "Hero Collection: Commander of the Guardian Knights" is also another one not worth paying scalper prices. Sure it "looks cool" but really is nowhere near worth the prices third party sellers are asking. Even the MSRP of $14.99 is a bit much... mostly you're paying for fancy packaging even if the quality standards of the cards and minis are up to par with the Game System. You can once again easily homebrew those using Reaper Minis (which are slightly higher quality anyway, and cheaper) and print cards as the abilities via the card data are again freely available online for playtesting.

PPS: It would not shock me at all if you would soon see "Pre-order RARE!" listings for the Barbarian Quest Pack remake (The Frozen Horror) at ridiculous prices, BEFORE it hits retail. Don't fall for it! :2cents:

Hi, new posts from Zargon on twitter about new releases in incoming months:

I guess he is talking about "Frozen Horror" and maybe "Mage of the Mirror", but it is just speculation from my side, of course. Others think could be AtOH or WoM ones, especially the first one...

I really hope they do remake all the published quest packs. The US didn't get Ogre Horde and Wizards of Morcar and EU didn't get the FH and MitM. I would like to see more hero character packs as well.

Thanks for posting this... Good stuff.

I'd like to point out, however, that Zargon doesn't expressly say that the new releases are dropping in the coming months, rather, they state that information on new releases will be revealed in the coming months. Which may have been what you meant.

Maybe splitting hairs here, but the most significant bit (to me) is that the new content mentioned is plural, "next couple of expansions". So that's interesting... But we 'Could' still be in for quite a wait in terms of retail.

HispaZargon wrote:...I guess he is talking about "Frozen Horror" and maybe "Mage of the Mirror", but it is just speculation from my side, of course. Others think could be AtOH or WoM ones, especially the first one...

Definitely Frozen Horror. Mage of the Mirror, is a good bet, and my personal hope. It'd be great if there's even more announced... But I am not holding my breath just yet. AH seems to be doling out information on the future of HQ very sparingly.

I have been quietly hoping that Wizards of Zargon gets a chance for re-release (initial NA release), though I fear that-that could replace any chance of a proper Wizard's Quest Pack... Perhaps they'll do some sort of hybrid between the two. It'd be great to get official cards for WoZ regardless. Who knows?

I'd dig seeing Against the Ogre Horde as well. It makes as much sense as Wizards of Zargon anyway. But part of me is also REALLY curious to see what sort of original content AH can come up with now that they "Know" there is in fact consumer interest in new content.

Additional Hero Packs as mentioned by AngusMacBaine, would be most welcome... Though I'm a little unsure about what they would be? A Cleric is an obvious choice, and a true healing class is absolutely needed in my opinion. A Rogue seems obvious as well, except the Dwarf "Sort of" fills that role now, but a dedicated Rogue could do other things too.

I can also imagine a multi Character Pack, with alt sculpts (and gendered) versions of the Mythic exclusive Heroes. Maybe.

Anyone's guess on all of it I suppose.

Regardless, thanks for posting those tweets.

I found some interesting things the other day.

First, a retailer that has a datestamp of when an estimated release date changes. In the case of Frozen Horror, their estimate of Q3/August was either last updated or first added on 27/04.

https://lautapelit.poromagia.com/fi/cat ... or_323482/

Second, a distributor that sells only to retailers and other distributors. Their estimate says June, but as they're part of the supply chain, they're far more likely to have an accurate release (or rather stock availability) date than retailers.

https://www.blackfire.eu/product.php?id=72280

Third, I found the expansion's EAN (European Article Number) code, or its barcode number (5010994132965), which brings up some Google Search results that the other two codes (HABF5815UU0 and F5815UU0) don't.

Nice detective work, I missed these.

I would presume he's just going to reveal about the Frozen Horror. IF there is a new announcement of a new product I predict it will be an "original" creation rather than another remake. I predict they will alternate between remake releases and original new content releases for HeroQuest, but we'll see what happens. Hopefully it's retail, whatever it is!

If the Frozen Horror is a success I think getting the Elf, and then a new release focusing on the Dwarf and the Wizard would make total sense. It's true that Wizards of Morcar kind of would have become the Wizard Quest Pack had that project not been cancelled circa 1993. Against the Ogre Horde and WOM still have EU fans of course...

Rogar's Hall (new content) [Free], Mythic release with GS, KK, ROTWL + new content. [limited release]

Retail release with GS, KK, ROTWL.

Guardian Knights [limited release] , Forsaken Tunnels of Xor Xel, New Beginnings [Free]

Frozen Horror [teased endlessly, pretty much confirmed but not finally officially announced publicly mostly, just waiting on status]

????

Gotta remember of course that most casual buyers (the majority of the people who will buy the remake HeroQuest) will only have the retail release, potentially only the game system (although they can buy KK and ROTWL pretty easily now). And so will it be with any retail releases. Of course they can download the free quests, but chances are people won't really get them if they are not savvy online (though packing them into the Companion app could be a way to get them into the hands of more people potentially who don't go searching around the internet for things, they just buy and forget).
