The mystery tiles could be used to designate "allies" (such as the various Orcs you can find in Spirit Queen's Torment). There are only three of the small ones that don't serve double duty as something else, so when Barbarian Quest Pack is remade, they could probably use some more... (to tell which Mercs belong to which hero).

I presumed the alternate stairs was just for variety, and I guess the grates are just for your own imagination. In the original set they were black on the back and some people used those as "big pits."

With the retail versions of KK/ROTWL having black on the back, those "extra pits" are back for those who want to use them of course... |_P (I guess the rest of us just have blocks of ice, or you could draw your own little sketch on the blank back I suppose).

I don't understand Hasbro's complete lack of business sense with this game.

You've got a product with a noted history of not being completely available for everyone, where a lack of stock has resulted in the community taking to 3D printing to deal with the problem of scalpers... and their solution was to make the new version not completely available for everyone, and provide such little stock (especially of the exclusives) that the scalpers had a field day.

Honestly, it's like management want it to fail.

Well hopefully they re-dedicate themselves this year, and somebody didn't just lose a bet...

Is there any chance the Mythic exclusives will come to retail later?

No answer to that but speculation. It would make sense because they're just leaving money on the table if they don't, but it's Hasbro, they're pretty inept and more concerned with making sure Beholders aren't representative of racial essentialism or something.

They destroyed D&D, that's for sure.

Nah, Wizards did enough damage to D&D on their own. They didn’t need Hasbro’s help. Hasbro only really cares about Magic sales and is pretty hands-off for D&D.

So it looks like this Friday's big announcement from Hasbro is that among other things, HeroQuest is back in stock (retail version for $125.99 plus shipping). However although it is through Hasbro Pulse, I don't see any references to the bonus heroes. It also says limit one per customer for the game system.

Am I missing something?

I hope it's just a mistake, otherwise it's one more mark in the "mistakes not learned from" column; it's not a complete copy-and-paste over on the UK Pulse site, because that page says limit five per customer.

KK and ROTWL are in stock on Hasbro's site (limit 2 each per customer). I tried to contact their live chat through the site but it was a long wait (14 in queue and being busy with family I didn't get through.

Anybody want to try contacting their customer support for an official answer? The only reason (other than being leery of Gamestop's reputation) to order directly through Hasbro Pulse was the promise of being able to get the bonus heroes, per the original impressions given by the pledge drive...
