According to that site it looks like Hasbro has a TM still active until August 2025 in the UK.

Yes, in the UK. Not part of the EU anymore (sadly)

Also, I have no clue about the law: Do you need to secure the rights everywhere or just in one country?

I did pick up a second copy that I’ll be willing to ship to someone interested at cost.

I'd love it if you could get a copy for me. Is it the mystic version?

This is why we can't have nice things

Anyways, I see a lot of people complaining about the price of the actual game(s). $100 for the base game or $150 for base game + 2 expansions.
If people expected this to cost $22 like the original game in stores, they obviously haven't been in a game store for decades.
All miniature games are expensive. I dare you to find a similar game that isn't in this price range.
Most modern games have a much higher production value than back in the day.

Gloomhaven - $140
Descent: - $80
Resident Evil 2: TBG - $100
Conan - $120
Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress - $150

I'll gladly go on record and say the price is pretty fair for what you get.
Is it expensive? Yes! But is it unreasonably compared to similar products? no!

Thank you GK. I started to write this same thing about the prices last night, but I didn't and of course you did it much better.

I for one am very happy that we are effectively getting a re-skin / re-print. We basically asked for this and our community NEEDS it. The original game has been too expensive 2nd hand on eBay for way too long. With any luck this will quickly become a worldwide retail release.

As for all of the negativity... I prefer to think that there is REAL market analysis happening at Hasbro telling the leaders not to expect this as a win (or that it competes with D&D so even a success is a loss, etc). And instead they are finally caving to some measure of pressure from within. I imagine a reply from leadership to the VP in charge of HQ looking like this:

"Fine, you can have this staff of 10 working 20% on your project for 6 months to make a professional pitch. IF, IF, IF we get pre-orders of $1 million in the US alone, then we will do a limited first production run and move on from there. And when this does not happen, you will move on to the Marvel Clue! board game project we are behind on and we NEVER talk about again, deal?"

It appears we will be funded about 24 hours after launch. I only see upside.

Especially I am looking forward to have an influx of new players and, together with them, hopefully new ideas and new quests and cards and so on.

I just noticed that this doesn't even ship until Fall 2021. Caught this in the initial video; in the fine print at the very end. I would post the image but am having difficulty. Apologies.

We are still a year away from this in the U.S. which means it could even longer for U.K./Europe.

Yeah, I saw that too. I'm going to assume that all of the 3D artwork with the note that they are Just Digital Concepts will need to be finalized, molds created, prototypes printed and tested for Quality, tweeks done based on Quality Control found in the Prototype phase, then sent to mass production once quality control is done. That is going to take some time.

Had this been a Kickstarted by an independent group, I'd probably wouldn't have signed up, especially since we will be charged a nearly a year before we get the product, but a crowd source from Hasbro I'm more confident that I can get my money back if something goes wrong, and I feel Hasbro has the capital and access to manufacturing to get this completed.

As far as the pricing goes, I think the pricing is right in line with a game like this, the shipping (especially to Canada) seems a little high, but $150 for the base game + 2 expansions + bonus characters + stretch goals seems pretty good to me. Heck video games like Call of Duty have "Definitive" editions that are $150 with a few extras and I think HeroQuest has more replay value than a video game that gets a new release every year/two. Just my Humble Opinion.
