I don't know why neither of the foam insert companies seem willing to reuse the stretch goal box; they'd much rather pretend it doesn't exist and jam everything in the main box for their Mythic storage products, no matter how high it makes the lid sit.

At least BattleFoam reuse the two expansion boxes, but still...

I have no idea what that is, either. Maybe once the ones for the core game come out, I'll just get those, maybe the Battle Foam Expansion boxes, and then makeshift something for the Mythic boxes.

Been messing around with foam myself; stuck all the expansion and stretch goal models in their boxes with a single layer of 50mm deep Shadow Foam (actually about 45mm tall).

Ran out of space with the main box using the same stuff, though; after work I should be able to experiment with the 60mm and 30mm deep (Who knows how tall they actually are) foam that turned up today.

If the 30mm deep stuff is deep enough to lay models down in, the expansion boxes might be able to hold two layers (and the main box can have two or three on top of a single 50 or 60mm one); might have to move the quest books into the main box like I did the cards, though.

If nothing else, the 60mm foam will let me stand more models up, hopefully freeing up space that way.

The old gray foam that was part of my old kenner star wars toys only lasted about three decades before it disintegrated into dust (indoors untouched, but not sealed inside anything).

Long ago I bought some blocks of generic white foam from Target (intended as extra padding for couches/chairs/beds). It's the kind that turns yellow if you leave it out in the open air and sunlight. I'm pretty sure this stuff is way cheaper than the "pre-cut" dark gray foam you buy from camera stores or elite game shops (or order from dudes selling it online for games). Yeah but a large pair of sharp scissors I already have...

Cutting the stuff into little blocks I attached it to a plastic fishing tackle box (also lined the bottom with a scissors cut thin layer of craft foam (the kind that is like a thick sheet of cloth but with a smooth surface). Great solution (the minis lay down on their sides, which is no big deal for me, these aren't metal). Now the minis for this game are a little larger so you might need a little larger box (I use a 3 tray box for HQ classic minis and Reaper analogs).

Of course I used less than 1% for this purpose, the rest is going for padded suitcases for storing electronics. |_P

As I commented elsewhere, I don't care about the "presentation" when opening up the box, to me it's all about protection here, not aesthetics.

I have a mini magnet in every base. Put them on a metal tray. For example, a metal cookie box. Wonderful. You can get more mini density only if you throw them in a large box without anything

Metal boxes I've been told are a very bad idea for minis, especially if you're using metal minis. However the magnet solution is ingenious and I've seen youtube videos (maybe yours) about how to do it. Pretty cool, although I did my own thing here.

The foam padding I used goes by several different names online I see. I'm not talking about those textured pads people use for yoga or office chair platforms. I mean like "chair pads." I see you can buy rolls of the stuff or yards of it that are a little more expensive (still you get a lot more for your money than those Games shop battle foam types which are more like the camera suitcase foam blocks). I'm thinking like $6 for a piece that is 15x17x1 inches each. I got mine on sale (the website for Joann fabrics ships them too). It comes in white but quickly yellows in the open air. There are also fancier kinds (more cushioning) that are green and cost more.

I got two sheets which was more than enough to outfit my two (Flambeau "classic" brand if anyone cares... a 2 tray and a 3 tray) tackle boxes of minis. I used more because I had multiple trays in there. But whatever works for you.

The cheap craft foam (which forms the "floor" of the boxes) is the cheap stuff that comes in thin sheets that you can either bug individually for a few cents or a stack (usually in different colors) at places like HobbyLobby. When they're on sale you can get some pretty good deals that get the job done.

If anybody is curious, I recently had some custom cards printed in the Remake style from MPC (for personal use only, mind you) and I'd say I'm quite impressed with the results. Yes, I used Odanan's customs as a reference, but I also drew from the colors on the preview (from Avalon Hill's pledge drive). I had the best results when I directly scanned the material from my own set and added new text. The text was a little softer than the real thing (understandable, no fancy equipment here) and the colors were hard to match exactly (but pretty darn close). They are so good in fact that I'm cautious about sharing them for fear some scalper might try to use them improperly. The default Linen finish they use is a little slipperier than the official cards, which is either good or bad depending upon your preference (the "stickier" cards are easier for handling and stacking, but the slipperier cards are easier to shuffle and feel nicer). The size is much closer than I thought. So perhaps the official remake cards are just a hair (like literally a hair or two) larger than standard Poker size. Maybe it is down to the sharpness of the blade used when cutting the cards? At a glance it is very hard to tell the difference. The easiest way is to look at the edge of the cards which had a darker core for the paper used than the official ones and a different color in fact. For my purposes though, mixing the customs in with the standard deck will be fairly seamless for play and people aren't going to be able to instantly tell what they're going to draw (only matters for the random draws, of course). In sleeves it would be even harder to tell.

To elaborate, I wanted to have Treasure cards reflecting the unique EU cards (including +4 BP potion of healing, Holy Water and Potion of Speed AS treasures, etc) and make the "missing" artifacts/equipment from the Mythic quest books into cards alongside the others, with minor corrections. The only one missing was the "water of healing" that was discovered after I placed the order... delivery only took a few days longer than I'm used to.

Reaper came out with another big dragon on a perch... https://www.reapermini.com/search/77683 and coincidentally a bunch of Dwarf themed content. Might be fodder for those wishing to create their own stuff based on recent releases/news...

A new quest! Interesting set up with the darkness and trap rules, some nice old school nastiness!
