Good reporting. I was going to use bluestacks to install the app on my computer but sadly it won't let me so can't see the new artwork.

Another interesting point about the app is if you select Spanish language, "Dread" has been translated to Spanish as "Caos" in many places, but not all... there we can see "Guerreros del Caos" instead of "Dread Warriors", "Hechicero del Caos" instead of "Dread Sorcerer", "Magia del Caos" instead of "Dread Magic", and so on... same names as in the original Spanish HeroQuest. Will they maintain such translations in the Spanish remake version of the board game? If yes, really good news for Spanish fans I think. Other places like quests patchments "Dread" is translated to Spanish as "Terror".

This leads to me thinking if maybe the English term "Chaos" is property of Games Workshop buy Spanish term "Caos" is not and Hasbro can use it in Spanish products, really interesting...

It's not really their term, GW copied it from Moorcock, even the eight pointed symbol. Spain has very loose copyright and trademark laws, and maybe translations are treated differently too.

anyone but Hasbro could use Chaos in a game or rpg and not get any issues they couldn't win in court

but Hasbro has a former relationship with GW so they can not use Chaos without pissing off GW and they would likely lose

chaos is fantasy games goes way back and no one can claim sole ownership of the word, but due to this former business partnership Hasbro really can't, at least for HQ
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

I'm happy some more of the original charm is being preserved in other languages there. So far we haven't yet seen someone unbox a physical copy that is in any language but english... yet I'm assuming it is being released in Italian, and probably Spanish and French also? It ought to be released everywhere the classic game was released, in the proper local languages. We need to start a campaign to demand the Japanese re-release...

I definitely saw a couple of shops (autre-monde.be and fulgurojouets) claiming a French version was coming on Facebook when I was trawling for evidence.

Also looking at options for HeroQuest playmats, but there is a problem; they're all based on the vintage boards. Why is this an issue? We decided to try the new pieces on the vintage boards, and the new pieces are just slightly bigger. The new figures and doors work okay, but when we get to the tiles...the old tiles work on the new boards. But the new tiles on the old board...you can make it work, but it is gonna be annoying.

Figure it'd be better to have a playmat based on one of the newer boards just so we're not having to try and shove the new pieces on something designed with the vintage pieces in mind.

I would love to get a playmat. Doesn't really matter to me if it's the old board or the new, I would see if I can upsize the squares to 1.25". I don't know anywhere to get it printed though.

How often is this going to really come up if you have both sets? When trying to use the Dragon mythic tier tiles on the classic board?

I'm sure they'res not the only place, but BoardGamesMaker (sister site of makeplayingcards) was able to print my 1 inch square quad fold version of the classic board for an affordable price.
