Been getting things set up for HeroQuest games, and so far, I am happy with what we got. My hope is that one day, I can get together with my cousin and we can play together. But right now, I wanna make sure things are good and in order before I try anything too wild. As things stand, it's mostly just setting things up here and there.

I have a binder for character sheets and any additional quests, be it from here or any being made by friends and family, though I'll still need to get a blank map, yet. Though that's gonna have to come another day. But I will have to make sure to get at least one photocopy for the sake of having a "master copy" in my binder. I'll probably have two to begin with; one to have as said master copy, and another for making my own map.

I've got lots of things I'm considering for my games with people, but I'll just have to tackle them a bit at a time. Certain 3D printed figures I find look neat, but I'll have to hold off for now.

Oooo…. Look what got tweeted today!

https://twitter.com/heroquest/status/14 ... 15690?s=21

Can we have a mysterious announcement from Zargon EVERY Monday?

What does everyone think it is?

My bet is on more information for The Frozen Horror. Perhaps a retail announcement?

PS. How do I embed a twitter share so it appears pretty here?

Someone brightened the image on Twitter, and apparently the symbol on the shield matches the Frozen Horror mercenary shield.

I'm guessing this is a look at at least a few models from the expansion; wouldn't expect much more. I think at best, we'll get the models drip-fed over the course of weeks.

Probably male and female mercenaries. The lack of removable weapons could mean them having to stuff the box more.

I propose a token system to keep track of which mercs belong to which, because you could end up with hostile mercs alongside ones for each of the four heroes which could be a mess, even if the original set had only 5 or 6 of them (no bolt on weapons means needing more dupes with different weapons, so probably 12, 3 of each type, maybe 2 male for each female).

My guess is they are mercenaries miniatures for incoming Frozen Horror questpack.

Yeah so if they are not going to use the bolt on weapons, they'd need probably 12 mercs... 3 each of crossbowmen, 3 halberdiers, 3 swordsmen and 3 scouts.

I'm betting because of PC they'll change crossbowmen to crossbow archers and swordsmen to sword experts or something. Probably 1 out of the 3 will be female.

Will they be gray? If they're red I guess that would be in keeping with the EU "Men at Arms" (in Wizards of Morcar and "Advanced Quest") but not the original gray of the Barbarian Quest pack from 1992 that few had (and many wanted).

Will they leave all the errors in and release warts and all or try to correct it... ? Managing the extreme difficulty (especially for new players in the solo quests)..?

Time will tell I guess, but I think most people are wondering about the retail release. How can they get excited about expansions if they don't even get to play the base game except maybe in an App that hasn't been released yet? They definitely have their work cut out for them. In terms of new content this has slightly more than the EQP and some consider it less boring as a result with the Merc mechanics, more tiles, etc.

As far as I recall there's a lot less GamesWorkShop stuff to worry about there too, so that makes it all the easier to adapt. If they don't bother bug fixing it, then the community will just revert to the fixes we've been using all these years. People who just bought it for the minis or to re-sell, won't care anyway.

Actually - that looks more like a renewed version of the female barbarian - pose is similar to the blue, original model... thoughts?

She had a shield. If it is the Barbarian, I would be in favor of that, being an alternate design rather than just a copy of the HasbroPulse one.

I would be happier to hear that the game was coming to retail store shelves than that this was being greenlit, but oh well, will be revealed soon enough I'm sure.

Anyone seen the fairly recent HeroQuest advertisement on the Hasbro Pulse YouTube channel?

Darkness is gathering. A growing army of Dread assembled beneath the banners of a power-mad conqueror stands ready to destroy the world in a cataclysm of fire, blood, and death. Mentor’s LoreTome has shown him what the world needs to withstand this growing danger.

A call to arms for the HeroQuest Game System, featuring the voice of designer, Stephen Baker.

I thought that sounded like Stephen Baker, the OG of Heroquest!

Is it coming to retail?
