Sure, pirates keep guys around who can play music, so that's no stretch.
I definitely read Orc Bard as “pirate”. Along with the very different (and fortunately for me, personally preferred) changes to the Zombies, and the existence of Abominations, I see a fantastic Lovecraftian quest of legendary sea horror. One of the things I personally love about all of the 2021 art style is that it feels, to me, like a more layered, complex, mysterious world. I never really cared about Games Workshop/Warhammer; it really was all about HeroQuest for me. So all of the changes that now make HeroQuest’s vocabulary and setting more distinct and unique are very welcome.
I do wish they’d caught all of the errors in the Quest Books, and I hope those all get compiled somewhere here at the Inn, easy to find and fix. I’m sad about the sets shipping with damage and sloppy gluing, and I honestly cannot believe that “Made in China”, etc actually got printed visibly on a tile. Maybe it’s a nitpick to some, but this will permanently frustrate me. Still, overall, as far as I can tell, I vastly prefer the new version. I can’t wait to actually get my hands on my copies.
Thank you to everyone posting and allowing me to live vicariously until mine arrive.
The best thing about HeroQuest is the lifelong unlocks on the imagination.
