NOPE they won't. Kenner did some prototype figures for Chewbacca's family including his wife for the infamous Star Wars Holiday special. It was quickly determined that furry boobs for a children's toy project is a hard no. Photos of the prototype figures exist if you wish to visualize their power fail and prove I'm not making it up. Kenner is now owned by Hasbro, someone somewhere in a boardroom will say, "hey! female yetis", and the senior designer will say, "not a chance remember the wookie's wife toy?"

Female Ice Gremlins shouldn't be objectionable or female mercs (Women-At-Arms?). Too bad the Ogres are in the EQP...

Rather than just release the same heroes again, how cool would it be for them to be not only in blue plastic, but wearing winter gear? That then could tie nicely into our Christmas miniature exchange...

Not all of the figures in the base game have opposite gender counterparts. For instance the mummies, they were only added in the Mythic Tier exclusively. So it's possible that they may not make those changes to BQP/EQP, or maybe just some figures will get opposite gender counterparts.

My only hope is that they don't decide to make The Frozen Horror a crownd funded project when they make it.

Nah. I'm pretty sure they won't do that. The initial crowd-funding showed that there's a market for HeroQuest and seeing as how we outstripped the original goal nearly four times over, it's not like they need to test the waters on our interest.

inserts for replacing those trays are coming...

https://twitter.com/battlefoam/status/1457845370990383112
Soon at http://battlefoam.com...

We'll be rolling out new waves of board game inserts soon! Get ready for some old and new favorites including the brand new HeroQuest, Pandemic, Ticket to Ride, and more!

I have some foam for 40k, and it wont work form pics i have seen for HQ, unless you cut half the walls out for things to roll around in the foam as many seem larger than 3rd edition 40k.

Not sure if i am going to keep the trays or toss the monsters in the box or some cigar boxes in the box. might make a Dollar Tree special and get some pencil boxes and stuff there to throw in the box and lose the trays somewhere

I wonder, anyone asked HASBRO/Avalon Hill if these trays are recyclable? what class are they. because not all plastic is taken in my area, some still gets put int he trash because it isnt something that can be handled locally.

people are already framing the tray's slip covers for wall art. Should have been something HASBRO already thought of to sell wall scrolls or posters of the new and maybe old box cover art by Les Edwards and the new rendition to ramp up interest for this new production run.

What?! Why? The original art is so much better than the derivative art. Of course some of the cover art for the HQ boxes was modified once before for the NA release (a step down in quality), but this modernized version is far from the former glory of the original art.

Yes the original is much better.

Buy Prints

Sorry - Prints of this artwork are not available at this time.

Why is HASBRO not getting this art rights form Games Workshop or both selling prints of it or posters?

seeing these poorly assembled minis and "damaged" pics, makes me wonder if retail release will be worth more as they will be parts on sprues, and only the Pulse campaign sets come pre-assembled? This way people could play the day they get the game without having to assemble it and anyone buying retail will have to assemble the game to play, meaning there will be not only sprue trees of parts, but assembly instruction on retail release.

That would make sense to have the other box insert in the base game for the screen and other things to fit under protecting from the sprue trees in shipping to retail.

I don't especially see anything wrong with the new art style except that it's not the old art style. It's more modern and digital. You might call that kind of lazy, because it kind of is kind of lazy, but it's pretty much par for the course. I'm glad they've kept it at least similar to what it was before.

The change of Fimir to Abominations (where "abomination" is defined as basically sewer-fish-creature-thing) is probably a good one. Fimir never existed outside of GW lore, and Abominations never existed IN GW lore, so it's likely the new creatures don't already exist in anyone's old quests.

Plus, there isn't a snowball's chance in hell Hasbro (or any other toy company) would be allowing something like Fimir to be in a kid's game in 2021. Kids have Google, y'know! And so do their parents.

On the whole … there are things I wish they had done differently, but it could have been a lot more cringey than it was. I mean, I'm still dreading the lazy search/replace edits and I wish the minis were less fragile-looking, but being soft polymer might make them tougher than I fear.

All they'd have to do is rehabilitate the legacy of the Fimir as being just super attractive through their magical pheromones despite their gruesome appearance. If they can do it for the Orcs...

It seems the only issue with the minis so far are factory errors (in the gluing process). Several people have commented that the minis feel "more like Descent" but I have no experience with that game. The furniture would be expected to be a little stiffer but I'm not sure if it's the same plastic.

So whether the character minis are more like Reaper Bones or Reaper Black I'm not sure until I have it in my hands. My package is supposed to arrive later today and it's tempting to just open it up and see for myself but my video won't be created until tomorrow.

The various bent weapons makes me think immediately of Reaper Bones (with the boiling water dip trick). If the furniture is a little more "plasticy" I can understand that, but it might just be the density that gives that effect. The brown furniture immediately made me think of those Dungeon Decor packages (that look like they're carved from delicious milk chocolate).
