Hmm... Knight... Dark Knight, Batcave... Batman crossover?

Maybe a licensed HeroScape tie-in?

I try not to be negative about such things, and hopefully that was meant as a joke, but I'd be quite disappointed in such genre-bending crossovers with HQ. Which is not to say that certain elements of HeroScape couldn't work with HQ, and by definition, HQ stuff could easily be added to HS, but not modern or sci-fi please.

Some IPs can pull it off (Zombicide, for example), but for HQ I'd really prefer the cash grabs be thematic.

With that in mind, I'd dig seeing some official bats added to HQ. And cavern overlays would be great. That is, if we were denied a new board. By which I mean, it'd be nifty if there were a new cavern-themed "Side board" concept added to the game. I don't expect that, but I'd enjoy it. And of course a Knight-themed set could be most anything in terms of quest environments, enemy types, and so on.

Regardless of "What" RotDM ends up being, I am looking forward to seeing how an all new retail project will be implemented.

I was most certainly joking, and I'm like you in that I'd rather see HeroQuest remain its 'own thing,' but at the same time I would not be shocked if HQ continues to sell and remain in the spotlight and mainstream that we may expect to see some kind of "Themed-opoly" effect someday. To me as long as they keep offering the "pure" original, I'm actually okay with that, because people will know those are on-offs and side editions, rather than the main, real product. (and if having some Batman artwork helps a few more people get into HeroQuest... who am I to judge?).

I would much rather see... IF we're going to be doing crossovers... with products released in the similar vein within the olden times of Milton Bradley such as Battle Masters (same setting as HeroQuest, in roughly the same time period) or even Space Crusade (the future of HeroQuest? it was never clarified in the lore) and Advanced HeroQuest (realizing that AHQ was solely a GamesWorkShop product and not to everyone's liking; most seem to prefer "Warhammer Quest").

HeroScape was made after HeroQuest and some consider it a "rival product" (but it is a Hasbro game now just as it was back then, so same company and even had Stephen Baker being credited with the original design, though apparently he is not part of the new product, being a semi-(?) retired freelance game designer now) but I don't see it anymore as a rival than Dungeons & Dragons (a franchise now owned under the same umbrella of Hasbro subsidiary companies). Should those be special one-off products rather than the main line? Absolutely. But it could even cut into the "rival products" belief some have, by having crossover options. Anyway that decision isn't up to me, but would I buy it? Maybe so, realizing that I would be buying it for the HQ side of things since that's my game, not so much these others. But some would have the opposite view...

A commenter to one of my youtube videos mentioned that the game was about Undead monsters along with evil elves and orcs, but I wasn't sure if anyone had seen any evidence of this? It seemed to me that we were basing all speculation on the box art, which appears to show some potentially ethereal or mutated characters besides the familiar ones (pointy eared characters assumed to be elves and the same with green skin being orcs). I wasn't sure precisely what those other figures were intended to be... evil humans, ghosts, centaur/spiders, mermaids, genies? Perhaps an evil human or two...

Whether they give us special cavern tiles remains to be seen of course but it would seem fitting if that's the setting, similar to a Kellar's Keep kind of quest pack. Until we get more details it seems anything is possible but it will probably be within the parameters set by previous packs... though what the "bonus surprise" might be this time (new dice? pads? furniture? dice tower??), only Avalon Hill knows for sure!

Hey, maybe they can give us rounded dice, if they don't have something against that design over at AH HQ...

When I was reading the letter that came with with the "Rogue Heir" I Couldn't help but wonder if the "Dread Moon" expansion could have something to do with the civil war that is brewing in Elethorn...

I think that was a pretty clear reference to the Terrellia vs. Sinestra conflict in Mage of the Mirror, with the implication being that you will encounter elves who have sided with Sinestra as "monsters" in some of the quests (which you do).

Ahh okay. I have never played the Elf Quest pack and I deliberately hold off on reading the quests untill the rerelease. :) I am back on the Vampire theory again then. :D

You may be missing us, since I think we will go into Mage of the Mirror on HeroQuestFans twitch streams once we finish Frozen Horror (quest 7 is our next adventure, starting in December!). Actually if it releases on time according to what people are saying it might be in line with your desires... Since I expect those last several quests will be very long! :D
