Now to talk the wife into two sets......muwahahaha

Man, I had to talk mine into just the one!!!! LOL.

I'm gonna have to go with the easier to ask forgiveness than permission approach on this one....

It looks like all the minis and the board got scaled up pretty good! They're advertising the minis as 1 inch diameter bases, which puts most of these minis at around 2 inches tall, and the gargoyle looks like he'll be about 3 inches tall. Also if each of the board squares are 1 in square, then the board will be bigger, but only by about 2.5 inches on the long side (counting squares only, not the borders).
I haven't gone and hit the button yet... but dang, I might have to, even though it is cartoony.

Oh excuse me, they have female versions of ALL FOUR heroes (fine by me). Where's the Male Elf though? Otherwise newbies are going to think there are no Male Elves, that they're all female (sorry, it's the hair /bishop).

Not by much. The original (NA anyway) square bases were more like squashed hexes... 25 mm at the boardest points (20mm at the smallest), and the actual board squares were 22x22mm. The original bases for HeroQuest were round (as observed in the original commericals and many fliers) but ended up being square. I'd be okay if that was changed before release. But chances are it won't because round bases are everywhere now. If you had the original figures it would just be in a bigger dungeon (I use a mix of originals and Reaper Bones, so that would be fine by me having slightly larger squares). Those new figures would probably look like giants compared to the originals though, you're right. That's a lot of plastic and that's a big box (I personally would be about smaller minis and more of them). I guess bigger means easier to paint (and possibly more paint to buy!).

The base game elf has changed to female, so the extra elf in the fancy armor along with the other female heroes is the male one.
