For many of us it wasn't the candles so much as the flames. Of course that means some of us will actually be more nostalgic if we snip off the tips to simulate the "snuffed candle" look. Each to their own!

The go as limp as a bonefish.

I'm sure they'll explain the new stuff. A clarification about potion and/or spell stacking effects would be useful, though I imagine those with strong opinions will just do what they were going to do anyway.
It sounds to me like the "unlocks" will all be written into the new Quests. After all, Heroic Tier people won't be getting those,
I meant in general, as if COVID ever ends, all the past due bills, companies will start their collections processes and anyone past due to such an extent their service may get shut off, for water, power, intenet, etc.
The other is not entirely true. While Heroric tier doesn't get Kellar's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord right away, those 2 expansions have been made not as "unlocks" but part of the main campaign. Priced such that getting them with Mythic will be cheapr than buying them later at retail. $25 is a lowball price for either if the base game will be $100 or more at retail. So those 2 expansions have new rules that shold be included in the base game, which would make it only sensible to add rules to the armoury for the Barbarian/Elf quest packs, since they asked int he Q&A "What do you all want?", and the resounding thunder of replies were "Everything that already existed. Every expansion, and then new ones".
So potions, NPCs like Ragnar, the Prospector, etc; Man at Arms, for hire undetectable traps, and all those other rules that were built on as key features to the game from the expansions, should, SHOULD be included as part of the base game already, so that people can make their own quests with them. Otherwise the newer players that never read any of the older quests will be behind in their ability to make quests compared to all of us that have things like HeroScribe or any new program or "app" that HASBRO makes for making quests. These programs would need the icons and rules for them, so they would need to define them in advance of release, or have a new program to replace HeroScribe that is barely functional, unless they dig out the old D&D 3.5 tile placing HTML/JS mess for HeroQuest where people have to include their own icons and notes for the hidden traps.
Something as simple as trapped Cupboards for the map, the swinging blade/Blade Trap... all these things should be explained in the main rules sicne it has existed for nearly 30 years so people can expane their own game.
It isnt that hard to get a green =marker or crayon to note an undetectable trap in your own custom quest, or with HeroScribe you can do as I did, and make all the normal furniture exist with the proper colors for NA traps.
Alchemist Shop for KK and RotWL, and what Iron and Wooden doors are for in the base game for example, since both of them add that element and future expansions build on them. rules for Trap doors, and more. Not sure about the spell cards from them in base game, that could get to be a LARGE deck of cards for treasures.
anything not present in the base game can just say "Rules for items found in expansions, or for you to use to make your own quests.
As you also noted "Rogar's Hall", will the rules for the poisoned weapons be in the base game? Is that only something for Mythic Tier that get the bonus Baker quest book, yet that quest was given free?
The have 7 months now to fiure out what rules to include and the future products, and it would be best i would think to make the best rules book you can from the start to prevent confussion we had over which get heirarchy the base game or an expansion, since they have plenty of time to work the kinks out an place the rules and errata all in the main game for EVERYONE to make their own quests with, even if they dont have all the fancy tiles for the trap doors, or the special iron entrance or wooden exit doors. (the ones on the edge of the map.) Not to mention how to use more than one board to play. Rules for those things from the beginning that everyone has acess to would sell the product more when it comes to retail.
I agree, they should be setting out to make the "ultimate" edition of HeroQuest, or else just re-release the classic sets as-is. And localisations wouldn't be that tough, since it's mostly just a re-written rulebook and different text on the cards.
I've been ridiculously busy with an emergency at work for the last couple of weeks and just learned that there's a HeroQuest Card Game!? I have so many questions!
When was it announced? Was it released already!? I found an Amazon link, but it says that it's unavailable! Is it sold out already!!? Was there ever any sort of pre-order!?!
The answers will come in time, I'm sure. Many were confused by this entry. Apparently it will be released before the board game. Not much info seems to be available yet...

Sorry, I'm kind of freaking out a bit!
There are two unboxing and play videos on YouTube. On commute a couple weeks ago, I listened to the one already posted by Shadzar on the previous page of this thread. The hosts seem nice and fun, but it kinda dragged on at times and felt very unedited and “raw”. The guy I’m posting below has more polish, but I honestly only watched the first little bit of it. I’m just not interested in HQ as a card game experience.
I was mostly curious whether the card game system was designed to have integrated cross-play with the board game. Spoiler: It isn’t. So it’s not for me. If you think you might be interested, though, the hosts playing the game in the previous video have a lot of potentially valuable chat really digging into the mechanics and analyzing both why they’re the way they are and what other options/expectations might have been. I personally was only interested because it clarified that I don’t want the card game (and I found the hosts charming), but of course your mileage may vary.
The best thing about HeroQuest is the lifelong unlocks on the imagination.
Another great signature by the way, I like that... when you said unboxing I was like "already???" but then I realized you meant the card game. That makes sense.
