well I think it is great

The stories we tell ourselves as a society change with each generation. The younger generation wants to see the redeemable in an orc. The concept of bad at birth is an archaic concept that will not stand the test of time in fantasy. We already see it in WOW with orcs being fairly decent fellas in their own right. My own table top game delved into these topics over 20 years ago. Orcs need not be evil.

If the kids get involved and one of them is holding the Orc Bard with a gleam in their eye are you going to squash it or are you going to sigh to yourself but smile outwardly while saying yes?
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

just an observation: all the Rat miniatures are female. Male rats have rather large...attributes which make them easily discernable :D

Maybe they're just dedicated supporters of a certain family of open source operating systems? But seriously folks...

" . . . " :orc:

"The only good Orc is a dead Orc!" :barbarian:

"Perhaps like Hellboy, with the proper upbringing/deprogramming, they can be a force for good!" :wizard:

"Aye, but can he hold 'is liquor?" :dwarf:

" . . . " :elf:

"Long as we're being stereotypical... cheers!" |_P

Hey, for me they can call themselves whatever they want, It's a free alternate universe.

I can call my wizard Hero a pink one eyed goblin. It does not make it so.

If we're going down this route, then every single character in Heroquest is a Barbarian, because none of them speak Greek (Except in a Greek language version if there is one, in which case nobody in that version is a Barbarian).

Heck, the Greeks even called some Greek speakers Barbarians!

mhicks1778 wrote:Anyone lookup the definition of warlock lately???

If you are going by the original definition then it just means "faith breaker", which essentially meant a non-Christian at the time. "Witch" was still completely genderless back then. It wasn't until later years that warlock became a male alternative to witch, although even today "witch" is fine for men too even though it tends to be used more for women.
