I'm certainly looking forward to this expansion. The specters look like they could be wickedly tough, and as for the Cadre, they may be for or against the heroes. I'd be interested to see if you have the Rogue Heir in your party if you'd get a different response or assistance from them.

I agree that there are many missed opportunities here. Just getting a commercial on the market online through social media, commercials on YouTube or anywhere they advertise on television would be a good thing. Showing that they are adding to the lore and not just repeating it would be great.

As for crossovers... How about a nerf sword, shield and crossbow for HeroQuest. They could be modeled after box and card art. And that is something that I would just have to have for the sake of having it. But a few pieces to LARP a quest or two, that would be awesome. Oh, and if they want to throw in a helm from the Knights, I wouldn't complain about that either. Thinking about it make me feel like a kid again.

Wow some people are getting there's already and we don't even have preorders in the US? Seriously, what IS going on here? I didn't think boardgamebliss was legit. I hope they are though so we can see some stuff!

It was a mistake by the vendor, they marked the wrong item as in transit, instead he got a box of food

Let's all remind ourselves that "pre-ordering" is not a guaranteed that you'll get a product early, or that you'll get it before your buddy who buys it off the retail shelf. It's frankly not even a guarantee that you'll EVER get a product (but you will get a refund, eventually if you don't).

Your card may be charged SEVERAL TIMES (and reversed each time) if the stock becomes available but then it runs out before your name comes up in the list.


In the case with the last several HeroQuest products, the Pre-Orders STOP showing up as "Pre-Order" a short time before the official release date (maybe a month out) and "order" quietly appears on various sites (usually Amazon.com but also other places too). Nobody really can predict it, but some fans start getting theirs ahead of time.

Granted, almost always some professional reviewer gets it before anyone else, but whether or not they do an actual in-depth fan unboxing is up in the air. Usually they have to sign contracts and obey "review embargoes" and other things (which us normal everyday fans don't have to abide by).

For all we know there won't be any US-based "pre-orders" before July 15th. Did they ever promise there would be? I agree it's a little unusual, but I don't think anyone should take this to mean they won't have their box in hand in mid-July if not sooner if they want to.
All the pre-order does is add your name to such a queue, that helps that particular retailer know how much of a product stock they need to acquire to fulfill their orders.

What I would not suggest is if you're a US based fan to pre-order it from a foreign country hoping to get it sooner than if you had bought domestically. I imagine you'll have to pay more for international shipping AND possibly shipping your product will be a lower priority than what are for them domestic shipments. So you may pay more and not get it any faster... and you may get lucky, but I wouldn't count on it!

Wouldn't it be funny if Rise was only the minis they showed so far, a quest book and nothing else LOL? Ok and maybe gender swapped Cadre members and a Sir Ragnar mini. The fact that we have not gotten solicitations so close to release date could mean they have nothing left to show hahaha! Or they are setting us up to be disappointed! Like when a movie doesn't have a preview night because the studio knows it's bad LOL

My personal, non-authoritative "Guess", is that AH could be dialing back the pre-orders as a response to inconsistent vendor policies/ handling of prior product releases.

We have seen slightly variable drop dates with pretty much each release since retail sales opened post Mythic delivery.

We also know that AH has a stated intent to curb third-party scalping of their HQ products.

All of this could then, simply be demonstrative of AHs efforts to keep some parity in place with release schedules across retailers.

Again, just a guess as I have no special or insider/ industry information or access.

None of this has, of course, kept me from checking various online retailers for pre-orders, on a nearly daily basis...*Chuckle*...

Yeah, I'm okay with that, the only reason I'd place an order is if I knew people were already getting theirs. For the same price, why not get it a few weeks early?

The early picture shared on social media said those were just a "few" of the miniatures included in the box. I take that to mean they're not just dupes (or even alternate sculpts) of the ones shown. If the earlier sets are anything to go by, I would imagine there is going to be a comparable amount of plastic in the box. Given the previous surprises we can't just assume it must be creatures (or furniture, or dice, or pads, or something completely different). But I think it's safe to imagine there are some alternate doors probably (they can't assume you own any of the other expansions, but maybe they'll go by the stairway or some other "entrance" tile instead of a special entry/exit door combo). There will probably be at least 16 character figures in the box, so that leaves at least another 8 yet to be revealed. Maybe another four characters with at least two of each? Of course maximally there may be many more characters in the box... Frozen Horror had 21 character minis (and one of them was 4x the size of the others) plus the two doors, while Mage of the Mirror had 17 plus the furniture pieces (16 + the two doors).

And yes, I see fans have created their own translucent colored dice variants that people wanted and are selling them online (not just blue, but also clear, green, red, purple, yellow...).

They want to make it a surprise, that's cool with me, and whoever gets that first box is going to get to spoil the whole thing online in one go...!

They didn't say too much more about the expansion in the Italian video. They did reinterate a release date of this summer among other things we already knew.
