It’s still “HeroQuest” though a more recent release. Sure ... we’re missing Fimir and the “chaos” models were renamed. But that doesn’t affect the core game.

the forum sections all discuss the original game, background and ruleset.
It isn't a strict rerelease we already know that for certain.

This new version will have some new rules (confirmed by Hasbro), new background story, new gameworld, new products, new characters, new releases etc.
that certainly deserves to be seperated to avoid confusion on which game/rules system is being discussed. All other areas of the HeroQuest rooms discuss the old version of the game.

I'm not talking about a whole new forum on a different website, im talking about a new category here at Ye Olde Inn
leave in the HeroQuest rooms section, but add a sixth area of its own:
General HeroQuest discussion
Official HeroQuest releases
Published Quest releases
HeroQuest merchandise
HeroQuest additions
*HeroQuest Hasbro Legacy version*

cracking reboxing gets my vote too, here here

It's easy... 1989-1991 is "Classic Hero Quest" (aka Heroquest).
2021 is Hero Quest Remake (aka Remake Hero Quest).

Then there's those other Hero Quests (Hero's Quest, Hero Wars/Questworld) that have nothing to do with either and the gamezone Anniversary re-release that got cancelled (can still buy the minis though).

It’s a “modified version” of the NA rules.

There is no separate forum/sub forum for NA Rules and EU Rules ... or EU Rules and EU 2nd edition Rules.

It’s all “HeroQuest” this isn’t a “HeroQuest 2.0/Advanced HeroQuest” situation. Where they’ve got colored dice and additional stats, or are rolling D20s.

We don’t even know what will be changing (other than there will be some minor rules differences and model differences)

Consider the rules differences between NA and the various EU editions. There are enough differences between those editions that they play like a totally different set of games. But they’re all part of the “HeroQuest” game and weren’t separated.

At worst we should have a “rules differences between “HeroQuest ‘89 and HeroQuest ‘20” thread.

Seriously 100%

I get why they changed things. Games Workshop owns "Chaos Warrior and Fimir". There is a conflict here. So we have Dread Warriors and Abominations. Bet they still roll the same amount of dice and have the same mind and body points....

It is Dungeons Lite no matter what we call the monsters.

If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

32 years difference is more than significant. The style of art and figure sculpts alone is a big departure from the original. All of the original versions and the small differences between NA and Europe were still the original first HeroQuest release, the 1st edition; this is clearly the 2nd edition not an add on to the 1st edition as some kind of compatible expansion.

the scale alone means that the 2nd edition figures, furniture, board and tiles will not be compatible for use with the 1st edition. If it isn't compatible with the old version because of style, size, rules changes, new direction with the story (wise and noble misunderstood wizard king orcs and their foppish bards, sigh) removal of GW content and setting, etc. then it is really a reboot more than a rerelease and clearly not the same game or any kind of expansion for the original HeroQuest.

It should have a seperate area here on the forum for posts regardless.

Speaking of separate sections, Darkhollow, how bout you start a separate thread for this topic? We still have 7 hours of funding time left for the HQ Rerelease, and I'd like to focus on the final hours of the campaign please, thank you |_P

this is the big discussion thread. you discuss whatever aspect of HasbroQuest you want, and I will discuss whatever aspect of HasbroQuest I want to.

we aren't hitting 4 mil unless they aren't being transparent and totally truthful with the numbers. Im in at double pledges mythic, where are you? I think unless you can convince someone else to double up, everyone who really wanted it is pretty much in already.
