I like to think that one or more of the AH gang read this topic and think: "This is why we created the Arena!" You are surely the Arena Master, wallydubbs.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » February 7th, 2026, 2:36 pm

Fanrax the Malicious holds dominion over the Crypt of Mortizen. He is actually the weakest of the Wizards of Morcar with only 4 attack dice and 4 body points, but he has enough minions and spells to carry him through a fight. Standing besides him in battle are 2 Dread Warriors, 2 Mummies and 4 Elite Skeleton, who all have an extra attack and defense dice. Normally Fanrax would have these 6 Spells: Call Skeletons, Death Bolt, Fear, Raise the Dead, Skulls of Doom & Summon Mummy. Unfortunately, due to the conditions of his opponents, once they enter the arena he won't be able to use spells.

The Monsters of Misildia are a fierce challenge in the Arena of the same name. Asides from the 1 Abomination there doesn't seem to be any potential leader. But the power that defines this small army will revoke any and all enemies from using magic. Fanrax will need to rely on the skill of fighters anyone, but they are outnumbered.

1 Abomination, 4 Goblins & 8 Orcs vs Fanrax, 2 Dread Warriors, 2 Mummies & Elite Skeletons

Fanrax and his Undead wouldn't get far out of the gate, but far enough to guarantee first attack. The Dread Warriors came out prepared as well. As soon as the opposing gate opens his magic will be useless, so he quickly casts Call Skeletons.

The opposing gate opens and all magical abilities are cancelled as the Abomination, Orcs & Goblins run out. Some cover over half the arena. Fanrax's forces lay in the attack. 5 Orcs were killed, one of which blocked the advance of 2 Elite Skeletons only to be taken out by a third. The Dread Warrior wounded the Abomination for 1BP.

Misildia's Monsters go on the offensive. 2 Goblins took out 2 Elite Skeletons with a double :skull: attack. Their 3 defense allowed them 1 :blackshield:, but not enough. The Orc with the Warhammer crushed a Mummy's head. The Abomination dealt 1 damage back to the Dread Warrior before running away. An Orc and Goblin teamed up on the other Dread Warrior, only taking 1BP out of him. Another Elite Skeleton was taken out by an Orc.

With Fanrax, 2 Dread Warriors, a Mummy & 4 Elite Skeletons left they overtook the Abomination, all 4 Goblins and 2 Orcs. The Orc with the Warhammer was the only one left. He crushed an elite skeleton, looking for a place to hit, but there were enemies all around him. He made it to the far wall the other Mummy couldn't reach him. But he was surrounded by 2 Elite Skeletons & a Dread Warrior. 1 Elite Skeleton missed its attack, the other one and Dread Warrior both rolled 1 :skull:, but the Orc surprisingly blocked both of these attacks. He brought the hammer down on the Dread Warrior for 2 :skull:s, which the Dread Warrior failed to block. The Orc was easily able to outrun the 2 Elite Skeletons. The Mummy was too slow & the other Dread Warrior was too far away. Only Fanrax was on that side of the board and he quickly cut the Orc down, getting the win for his team with 2 Elite Skeletons, a Mummy & 1 Dread Warrior.

Thanks Daedalus! I'm actually having fun finding evenly matched teams. I've only amassed a following of about 12 on Yeoldinn Facebook. As long as someone else finds interest in these I'm happy to keep doing them.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » February 8th, 2026, 4:05 pm

Atop the loftiest peak of some dark mountains is the Eyrie of the Storm Master, Boroush. He doesn't appear to be in the right frame of mind as he sacrificed some of his sanity to gain control over the weather. He has 6 spells tailored specifically to him: Blinding Sleet, Earthquake, Hurricane, Lightning Strike, Thieving Wind & Wall of Ice. His back-up comes in the form of 2 Dread Warriors, 6 Goblins (two of them will be made Archers), and 2 Orcs.

The Witch Lord is the most iconic villain in HeroQuest. I choose to believe the Dread Sorcerer statue in the Crypt of the Necromancer is the Witch Lord. Extending beyond the Game System and into his own quest pack, Return of the Witch Lord emphasizes his power as he threatens to raise the Black Banner in conjunction with Skulmar and the Witch Queen. Although the Spirit Blade is the only weapon that can harm him along with Magical Throwing Daggers or fire, his resistance to weapons will need to ignored in the boss Battles. However I will grant the Witch Lord his spell immunity. Standing with the Witch Lord are 2 Doomguards, 2 Mummies and 6 Skeletons (two will be archers). Matching the Storm Master, he has 6 spells as well: Command, Fear, Firestorm, Lightning Bolt, Summon Undead & Tempest. However, until the Witch Lord has used all his spells and all partners are eliminated he won't be able to cast Summon Undead.

Boroush, 2 Dread Warriors, 2 Orcs, 4 Goblins & 2 Goblin Archers vs Witch Lord, 2 Doomguard, 2 Mummies, 4 Skeletons & 2 Skeleton Archers

The gate creeks open as Boroush leads his troops out of the gate, taking up positions far enough away that the opposing team shouldn't be able to reach them.

The Witch Lord could run out there, but he would easily get surrounded and decided a more strategic approach, casting Command on one of the Dread Warriors. Rolling a :roll1: :roll3: & :roll4: the spell takes hold. He turns to attack his master, but rolls 4 :whiteshield:s, dealing no damage. Two of his Skeleton archers loose their arrows, taking out 2 Goblins.

The Undead were slow out of the gate so the back line was an easy target. The Arena rumbled as the ground ripped ass under, Boroush's Earthquake spell swallowed 4 skeletons, the two archers with them. Boroush decided to put some distance between himself and the Dread Warrior that attacked him. The Afflicted Dread Warrior rolled :roll1: :roll1: :roll5:, unable to reject the Command spell. The Goblin Archer targeted the Witch Lord, but did no damage. The Orc targets the Doomguard guarding the Witch Lord, even though he rolled 2 :skull:, the Doomguard easily blocked the hits. A Goblin runs out and tackles a Skeleton with her claw, being sure to damage the central nervous system. Another Goblin on the other side of the arena uses hit hatchet to dismember another skeleton. The Dread Warrior, Orc and Goblin Archer all went after the Doomguard. They managed to reduce him to 2BP but unable to kill him.

The Witch Lord surveys the arena and commands his Doomguard to step out of line. One flees from the Orc and has just enough movement to reach the Goblin Archer, quickly killing him. The Other with 1BP left circles the Dread Warrior, going for an attack, but he misses. With remarkable speed, the Witch Lord circles the Orc and lets out a Lightning Bolt across the arena, taking out 2 Orcs and dealing 2BP of damage on the Dread Warrior. At the same time he commands the Allficted Dread Warrior to go after his master, Boroush. With 2 :skull:s on his roll, Boroush only blocked 1, taking 1BP of damage. The 2 Mummies hidden behind the pillar come out. One falls upon the Goblin protecting Boroush, the other bypasses another Goblin and instead has just enough space to reach the wounded Dread Warrior. Still out-of-sorts from the Lightning Bolt, the Mummy strangles him to death.

The Storm Master's last Goblin runs across the arena and chops down with hit hatchet on the Mummy, getting it stuck in its shoulder, not killing it, though. Boroush, with only 6 movement, steps around these two, peeking out behind the pillar and casts Lightning Strike. The Mummy took no damage, but Doomguard was brought down to 0BP. The last Goblin Archer threw a bomb bag that landed perfectly under the Mummy's feet, exploding and killing the Mummy. The Goblin Ran over to join the Storm Master. The Afflicted Dread Warrior, is still unable to break the Command spell.

The Dread Warrior goes after his master again, this time rolling a perfect attack of 4 :skull:s. Boroush only produced 1 :blackshield:, brought down to 1BP. The Witch Lord's last mummy grabs the Goblin and sticks his arm down his throat, pulling out it's intestines. The Doomguard that had killed the Goblin Archer earlier was too far away to make any attacks, but he started across the arena as the Witch Lord shows Boroush a storm spell he doesn't know, Tempest.

The Dread Warrior finally breaks the Command spell and goes after the Mummy, but he flopped on his attack. The Goblin Archer throws another Bomb at the Doomguard, dealing 1BP of damage. She tries to run past the Doomguard, trying to get him to follow her away from the Storm Master, who was caught up in a whirlwind.

The Witch Lord casts Fear on the Dread Warrior that just broke Command. The Mummy attacks, dealing 1 damage on the Dread Warrior, not enough to kill him. The Doomguard doesn't take the Goblin's bait and goes after Storm Master. With 3 :skull:s. Boroush rolls 1 :blackshield:, taking the 2BP's to end him.

The Goblin Archer throws another bomb at the mummy for only 1 :skull:, knocking the Mummy off balance, falling into the Earthquake crevass. The Dread Warrior rolls :roll6: :roll3:, breaking the Fear spell. He attacks the Doomguard for 3 :skull:s, enough to kill him. The Doomguard rolled 2 :blackshield:s, taking him down to 1BP.

The Witch Lord moves with tremendous speed across the arena, slaughtering the Goblin Archer. His Doomguard rolled 1 :skull: in attack, but the Dread Warrior blocked it. Suddenly afraid, he realizes Doomguard has 8 movement as opposed to 7 of standard Dread Warriors. He flees. The Dread Warrior wasn't able to catch him, but the Witch Lord appears next to him whispering, "Thank you for your service," and takes his head off. The Witch Lord & 1 of the Doomguard survive.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » February 9th, 2026, 1:22 am

Sinestra doesn't seem to fit the casual code of conduct for a She-Elf, as she kidnapped her own niece and sought leadership of Elthorn, pushing her sister to abdicate the Throne. What would you expect from someone named 2 letters off of Sinister? She's a very powerful sorceress and has mastered 8 spells, the 2nd most of any HeroQuest villain. Her spells consist of Dispel, Firestorm, Mind Blast, Mirror Magic, Reanimation, Restore Dread, Summon Wolves, Werewolf Curse. However 3 of her spells will find no use in this first challenge: she has no undead followers to reanimate and her opponents have no magic, meaning Mirror Magic and Dispel can't be used. The points are very close between these 2 teams so she may not get to use Summon Wolves unless her team falls far behind. She's joined by 2 Giant Wolves, 2 Elven Archers & 1 Ogre. It's a very well rounded team with vicious raw power, ranged attacks and spells.

Kelvinos is a hero from a bygone era whose body has been well preserved in the cold climate of the Frost Mountain, but it's also been reanimated by the Frozen Horror. Kelvinos is undead with 4 attack & defense dice and 4 Body Points. However he's not the most fearsome on his team as Kelvinos is accompanied by 2 Dread Warriors, a Gargoyle, 2 Orcs, a Polar Warbear & a Yeti. It's uncertain if Kelvinos is the ancient hero that defeated the Frozen Horror centuries ago, but his body still has some fight left in it.

Sinestra, 2 Giant Wolves, 2 Elven Archers & 1 Ogre vs Kelvinos, 2 Dread Warriors, 1 Gargoyle, 2 Orcs 1 Polar Warbear & 1 Yeti

Sinestra comes out of the gate and keeps to the side, prepares to cast her magic while the Giant Wolves step out towards the center of the arena. The Ogre, however, is quite slow out of the gate.

Kelvinos is slow too, not much of a leader as all his teamates can cover more ground than him. Most of his team are too far to make attacks, except the Gargoyle reaches the Giant Wolf, who may have stepped out too far. The Gargoyle scores 1 hit on Giant Wolf. Though he rolled 2 :skull:s, one was blocked.

One Elven Archer looses an arrow that hits a Dread Warrior for 2BP. Giant Wolf scars the Gargoyle for 2BP of damage. The Ogre hits the Polar Warbear for 2BP. The other Elven Archer deals 2BP for the other Dread Warrior as well. The other Giant Wolf mauls Kelvinos for 2BP. Sinestra casts Werewolf Curse on an Orc, who rolls a :roll5:.

The Gargoyle, a Dread Warrior and an Orc force the Giant Wolf down to 1BP, but they weren't able to kill it. The Yeti using its Speed and goes after the Elven Archer, going for the bear-hug he rolls 2 :skull:s, almost a certainty. But the Elven Archer rolled 2 :blackshield:s on his only 2 defense dice, avoiding damage. A Dread Warrior, angry at the Elven Archer chages with a perfect attack of 4 :skull:, crushing the Elven Archer's skull. The Polar Warbear uses a double attack to hit the Ogre for 2BP on the first attack and 1 on the 2nd. The Ogre is very slow so the Polar Warbear runs out of his reach. Kelvinos and Werewolf cursed Orc (who rolled :roll1: :roll4:) both flopped on their attacks against the Giant Wolf.

The Elven Archer fires an arrow at the Dread Warrior who killed his friend, taking out the Warrior and running from the Yeti. Sinestra casts Restore Dread on her wounded Giant Wolf. The Wolf filled with renewed vigor tries to take out the Gargoyle, only rolling 2 :skull:, and the Gargoyle successfully blocked both, still at 1BP. The other Giant Wolf rips Kelvinos apart. The Ogre stalks behind the Dread Warrior trying to subdue the Giant Wolf, puts his head between his hands and squishes it like a melon.

The Orc with the Mace smashes the Giant Wolf's rear leg joint with a 2 :skull: attack. The Gargoyle adds another BP of damage, taking the Giant Wolf down to 2 BP. The Polar Warbear runs in between the Giant Wolf and Ogre, getting 3 :skull:s on his first attack to finish off the Giant Wolf and rolling another 2 on his 2nd attack, bringing the Ogre down to 0BP, it rises in success. The Orc with the Werewolf Curse rolls :roll1: :roll3:, maintaining his sanity and hits the other Giant Wolf for 1BP before running away. The Yeti, stalks over to the Elven Archer but gets side tracked, seeing Sinestra and attacks her, landing 2 hits and throwing her in a Bear Hug.

Sinestra screams in the Bear-hug, the Elven Archer backs up and looses an Arrow that completely misses. The Giant Wolf backs up to help its Master rolling 4 :skull:s, taking the Yeti down to 1BP, but he still has Sinestra in the hug. The Orc with the mace runs in and goes after the Elven Archer. He rolls 1 :skull:, and the Archer blocked it. The Polar Warbear has just enough space to reach them. He gets 3 :skull:s on the Elven Archer, killing him and uses his 2nd Attack on the Giant Wolf, taking it down to 2 BP. The Werewolf Curse kicks in and the Orc turns into a Werewolf and pounced on the Gargoyle, killing it.

The Giant Wolf gives a final attack on the Yeti, forcing it to drop Sinestra, who is down to 1BP. With the numbers now stacked against her she casts Firestorm over the arena, this kills her Giant Wolf and the two Orcs, the Polar Warbear was reduced to 1BP. She proved to be faster than him and ran. As he couldn't catch her she cast Mind Blast, and ran 7 more spaces, far enough where he couldn't catch her, but close enough for her to backtrack and hit him. The Polar Warbear rolled :roll3: & :roll6:, rejecting the spell. It gave chase but couldn't catch her. In one desperate attempt she went for the attack, with 4 attack dice she only rolled 1 :skull:. The Polar Warbear did not roll a :blackshield:, dropping to 0BP, the win goes to Sinestra at 1BP.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » February 10th, 2026, 11:46 pm

The Frozen Horror rules over Ice Mountain and threatens the entire realm with an eternal winger. He can be intimidating to behold, but he doesn't seem any more brutal than an Ogre with only 5 attack dice, 4 defense and 6 Body Points. But what makes the Frozen Horror more powerful is his ability to cast spells and lots of them. There are 12 spells in his arsenal: Chill, Cloud of Dread, Command, Fear, Ice Storm, Ice Wall, Mind Freeze, Rust, Skate, Sleep, Soothe & Tempest. His enlisted minions consist of 2 Dread Warriors, 2 Polar Warbears & 2 Yetis.

Gretzel Blightspeaker is a Goblin Demon guarding the rift at the end of Path A in Jungles of Delthrak. She has 3 forms in Gretzl the Blightspeaker, Demonspider & Demonape, she can make ranged attacks and knows the spells Channel Dread, Creeping Grasp & Fear. Starting off with her are 4 Blightweavers & a Raptor. But once her Blightspeaker form is defeated her stats will increase to Demonspider and a Blightcrawler will appear to help her. The same will apply under Demonape, but a Giant Ape will help. As soon as their form changes they'll be able to attack.

Frozen Horror, 2 Dread Warriors, 2 Polar Warbears & 2 Yetis vs. Gretzl Blightspeaker, 4 Blightweavers & 1 Raptor

An arctic breeze blows into the arena as the gate opens and the Frozen Horror steps out with all his minions. The Frozen Horror limits their opponents movement by casting Ice Wall to create barriers to bottleneck his his opponents.

The opposing gate opens and Gretzl and her Raptor immediately go on the attack, taking a Polar Warbear down to 3BP while the Blightweavers huddle close together outside of the gate, one casts Channel Dread on the Polar Warbear, taking him down to 2BP. Two others casts Channel Dread together and suck the life out of a Dread Warrior, he drops dead before given a chance to attack. The 4th Blightweaver casts Creeping Grasp on the other Dread Warrior, but a :whiteshield: is rolled, he takes no damage.

Frozen Horror moves down to get a better look at the Blightweavers and notes their perfect position, casting Ice Storm over them. The Violent Ice Storm sends down ice blocks the size of their heads, crushing all 4 of them. The Polar Warbear uses his double attack, smashing the Raptor's skull followed by a perfect attack of 4 :skull:, which Gretzl fails to block. She drops to 1BP. The Other Dread Warrior runs over to finish her off. Gretzl the Blightspeaker is dead and Gretzl the Demonspider arises, with her a Blightcrawler.
Up to 5 attack dice now, she rolls 4 :skull:s, taking out the Polar Warbear. The Blightcrawler bights the Dread Warrior for 2BP of damage, it's venomous and he's unable to move.
The Yeti runs up to Gretzl and punches her for 1BP before putting her in a bear-hug. The Blightcrawler spawns a Spawnling. The other Yeti runs over and stomps it out, only for it to be replaced by another. So the other Polar Warbear runs over to smash that one.

Gretzl is still in the bear-hug and loses a body point. The Blightcrawler is agile enough to climb the pillar around her opponents and get an attack on the Yeti. She bights down on the defenseless Yeti for 2BP. The paralysis of the bite forces it to lose all its strength for the hug, allowing Gretzl to escape. She runs away and targets the Frozen Horror for Creeping Grasp, but a :blackshield:.

With a Yeti and Dread Warrior paralyzed, the Frozen Horror commands his Polar Warbear to take out the Blightweaver before it spawns any more Spawnlings. Rolling 3 :skull:s on its first attack, but the Blightcrawler blocks 1, down to 1BP but not dead. However the Polar Warbear swings a 2nd attack for 2BP. Only 1 is blocked, enough to smash and kill the giant spider. The Folrozrn Horror casts Skate on the other Yeti, giving him the necessary steps to move across the arena and challenge Gretzl, producing only 1 :skull: and she blocks it. She backs away and fires a Ranged Attack at the Yeti for 1BP.

The Polar Warbear has just enough space to reach her and lays in an attack, but she uses Demon wings to appear on the other side of the arena unharmed. The Frozen Horror casts Sleep, but she plays Dispel and revokes the spell. The last Dread Warrior charges her as one Yeti is too far away and 4 attack dice is better than 3. He rolls 2 :skull:s, but she blocks 1, dropping to 1BP.

Gretzl rolls 4 :skull:s on her attack, the Dread Warrior only blocks 2, but it's enough to finish him off. Gretzl tries to run for it. The Polar Warbear is too far out to reach her, but the Frozen Horror touches her, casting Chill, defeating Gretzl Demonspider, only to spawn Gretzl Demonape. She blasts the Yeti for 2, but he blocked 1 while the new Giant Ape went after the Frozen Horror, only landing 1 hit. Both Yetis charge Gretzl, the first flops while the other lands 2 hits, putting her in a Bear-hug. The Giant Ape tries to save it's master, hitting the Yeti from behind for 2BP, he's down to 2BP.

Frozen Horror casts Tempest on the Giant Ape as the Yeti continues to squeeze Gretzl. The Polar Warbear joins in the attack, bashing the Giant Ape with 2 attacks, taking him down to 2BP. The Giant Ape is enveloped in a whirlwind while Gretzl struggles in the Yeti's hug. The Other Yeti runs over and rolls a perfect attack. The Giant Ape only blocked 1 and was reduced to 0BP. The Frozen Horror cast Mind Freeze on Gretzl as she struggled in the Yeti hug. Her mind died with her body.

The Frozen Horror wins with 2 Yetis and a Polar Warbear at his side.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » February 13th, 2026, 3:54 am

The Keeper is the protector of the Dread Shrine, she has some powerful spells but doesn't amount to much without them as she has 2 Attack Dice, 3 Defence and 5 Body Points. Standing with her are 5 Iron Constructs, a Gargoyle, Dread Warrior, Golem & the Minotaur.

The Forgotten Legion is Skulmar's army that has never been defeated, comprised of 3 Dread Warriors, 4 Mummies 4 Zombies and 12 Skeletons. How they ended up Frozen in ice is uncertain and I'm also curious how this Legion was forgotten if they're so important to the Witch Lord...

The Keeper, 1 Golem, 1 Minotaur, 1 Gargoyle, 1 Dread Warrior & 5 Iron Constructs vs Skulmar, 3 Dread Warriors, 4 Mummies, 12 Skeletons & 4 Zombies

The Keeper heads out of the gate casting Scrolls of Morcar. The Gargoyle, Dread Warrior and an Iron Construct go with her to the northern side of the arena. 6 Iron Constructs and the Mini tour take the southern part. The giant Golem is slow coming out of the gate and stays in the middle, not fast enough to pass the pillar.

The opposing gate opens, only Skulmar and 2 Dread Warriors are able to get out far enough, and they go after the biggest threat, the Minotaur. As soon as they get to it, the Minotaur attacks with Gore, dealing 2 damage to a Dread Warrior, missing on the other and Skulmar blocks the horns. But all 3 attack, hoping to take out the Minotaur, but they're only able to reduce him to 1BP. The rest of the undead struggle to get out of the gate, there's so many of them, the Mummies and Zombies get out, only 2 Skeletons are able to, the rest are funneling at the gate.

The Keeper's Dread Warrior runs out to the 3rd Dread Warrior of the Forgotten Legion, rolling 3 :skull:s in his attack. No :blackshield: is rolled, taking him out. The Gargoyle takes out a Skeleton. The Keeper casts Hammer of Ruin on herself. The Golem moves around the pillar, comes upon the Dread Warrior that had been hired and finishes him off. Two Iron Constructs go after Skulmar while a third circles around and tries to take on the Dread Warrior, only dealing 1 damage. The Minotaur swings his Axe, splitting the Dread Warrior in half. Skulmar, with 6 defense dice blocked the attacks of the Iron Constructs.

A Zombie stumbles between the Golem & Minotaur. The Minotaur goes for the gore but whiffs on the attack, allowing the Zombie to roll doubles :skull:a against the Minotaur, who only rolled 1 :blackshield:, which wasn't enough to save him, the Minotaur was defeated. A Zombie and Mummy went after the Dread Warrior and Gargoyle, but they blocked both attacks. A Skeleton went around the pillar and launched a sneak attack on an Iron Construct, taking it's head off with a scythe. This opened up a spot for a Mummy to get around the pillar and attack the Gargoyle from behind, but he rolled 2 :blackshield:s to save himself. The Rest of the undead are finally getting out of the gate but can't work around to get the attack. Skulmar takes out an Iron Construct and moves away from the Golem so it can't reach him on its next turn.

The Artificer casts Conjure Goldm across the arena, who appears and attacks a Skeleton. Despite rolling a :skull: the Skeleton was able to block it. The other Golem took out the Zombie that killed the Minotaur. The Gargoyle ripped the head off a Mummy while the Dread Warrior fails to land a hit. A Mummy blocks an Iron Construct and Skulmar does the same.

A Skeleton attacked another Iron Construct but missed, so a Mummy crashed into the Iron Construct and bashed it against the walls of the arena until it fell apart. The Undead now through the gate all swarm the Artificer's team. Three skeletons attacks the recently conjured Golem, taking it down to 1BP, but not killing it. 4 Askeletons and a Mummy hack away at the other Goblin, they too only take it down to 1 BP. The Dread Warrior and Gargoyle get overrun by undead too, but they hold their ground. A Skeletonakes it to the Artificer rolling a :skull:, forcing her to use the Scrolls of Morcar. Skulmar abandons an Iron Construct and runs across the arena to attack the Keeper, but she blocked his attack. A Skeleton takes out the last Iron Co struct.

The Keeper smashes a Skeleton with her Hammer and runs away, but 6 spaces doesn't get her very far. One Golem rolled 1 :skull:, which was blocked by a Skeleton, the other rolled 2 :skull:, miraculously the Skeleton it attacked rolled 2 :blackshield:. The Gargoyle flopped on it's attack while the Dread Warrior ran his sword into a Zombie, but it didn't interrupt the central nervous system.

The Undead, still swarming took out the two giant golems but weren't able to hurt the Gargoyle, but the Dread Warrior did take 1 damage. Skulmar goes after the Keeper, forcing her to use her 2nd marker on the Scrolls of Morcar.

The Artifics casts Summon Dreadshifter that tries to take out a Mummy, but it blocked. The Gargoyle attacked a Skeleton for 2 hits, but amazingly again a Skeleton rolls 2 :blackshield:, proving why the Forgotten Legion are undefeated. The Dread Warrior still can't get a hit on the Mummy. These two back off into the corner to minimize the number if undead attacks against them.

3 Skeletons run across the arena to get to the Artificer but aren't able to make it. A Skeleton gets a hit on the Dreadshifter, but not enough to kill it. The Artificer blocks Skulmar's hits. A Zombie bites the Gargoyle's arm for 1BP of damage. The Dread Warrior rolls 3 :blackshield:s when the Mummy attacks him.

The Dreadshifter kills a Skeleton while the Artifices attacks a Mummy. The Mummy blocks causing the Hammer of Ruin Spell to end. The Dread Warrior crushes the scroll of a Zombie with a blow from his mace. The Gargoyle has a terrible roll.

Two Mummies take out the Dreadshifter while Skeletons alternate attacks on the Artificer, not only breaking the Scrolls of Morcar spell but taking her down to 2BP. A Skeleton steps in to take up the dead Zombie, swinging its scythe at the Gargoyle for 2 :skull:, landing both hits, killing the Gargoyle.

The Artificer tried to Kill a Skeleton so he can escape through the bodies, but she flops the attack. The Dread Warrior also flood on the attack.

After Skeletons alternate attacks, Skulmar steps in and rolled 4 :skull:s, taking the Artificer down to 0BP. In her last breath she casts Beseech the Powers of Dread! She rolls a :roll3:, turning into a Gargoyle. A Mummy attacks for 2 :skull:s, but the Dread Warrior blocks 1, taken down to 1BP.

The Dread Warrior smashed the Skeleton that killed the Gargoyle and ran away while the Gargoyle/Artificer realizes how slim their chances are and casts Leech Life to which none of the undead could defend, this causes all Skeletons and Zombies in the arena to die. The Mummies all lose 1BP. Skulmar rolls :roll3:, taking no damage and the Dread Warrior rolls :roll1:, also avoiding death.

A Mummy & Skelmar attack the Gargoyle, taking her down to 1BP. The Mummies chase the Dread Warrior but can't catch him.

The Gargoyle attacks Skulmar but flops and tries to escape. The Dread Warrior comes around, fleeing from the Mummies and tries to kill Skulmar, but his 6 defense is too much.

A Mummy intercepts the Dread Warrior, tackles him and kills the Dread Warrior, giving Skulmar the opening. He charges the Keeper/Gargoyle and slays her, giving the win to Skulmar & 3 Mummies.

Boss Battles Round 2.

Postby wallydubbs » February 17th, 2026, 12:26 am

In one of the closest battles of the first round, Ulag''s forces of Lair of the Orc Warlord defeated Kavra's team from Nelath's Tomb. Only one survivor in the form of a Dread Warrior lived to carry Ulag's banner into this 2nd Round.

Another equally close battle occured between the 4 Wizards of Morcar from the Final Conflict and Ragnar's forces from The Royal Palace Awaits. It's convenient that the remnants of Ragnar's team will meet the survivors of Ulag's team, but awfully disappoint that both Ragnar and Ulag won't be a part of it. Only a Magus Guard survived the battle, defeating the Necromancer Fanrax to carry on his team's legacy. The Magus Guard has the edge as he can move 1 space further and can cast 2 spells. But the Dread Warrior has the potential for 1st hit, which could give him all the edge needed for this match.

Dread Warrior vs Magus Guard

The Dread Warrior is out first and keeps a safe distance away from the opposing Gate.

As that Gate opens a whirlwind envelopes the Dread Warrior as the Magus Guard runs out, casting Tempest. Stealing first hit from the Dread Warrior the Magus Guard closes the distance and moves to strike with 2 :skull:s in the attack. The Dread Warrior failed to produce a :blackshield: and thus takes 2BP of damage.
As soon as the Whirlwind wears off the Dread Warriors swings his mace for 3 :skull:, with the potential to win the match, but the Magus Guard rolled 2 :blackshield:s, only taking 1BP of damage.
In retaliation the Magus Guard swing his sword, 1 :skull:, but the Dread Warrior raised his shield to avoid damage. The Magus Guard still has movement and is able to outrun the Dread Warrior, who regrets standing his ground. The Magus Guard turns to see his attacker coming and casts Ball of Flame. With a roll of :roll1: :roll1:, the Dread Warrior burns up, granting the win to the Magus Guard for Ragnar's team.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » February 17th, 2026, 1:51 pm

The Bloodthirster Guardian of Grin's Crag defeated Borokk in the first round, this, in part is thanks to his immunity to magic. It SHOULD help him in this match too.

The Death Knight, Kedrick Gilbane was the sole survivor of his team as they defeated the nameless sorcerer from the Archives of Arborenis, now he represents himself in single combat.

Bloodthirster Guardian Gargoyle of Grin's Crag vs The Death Knight Kedrick Gilbane

Thanks to the Gargoyle's immunity to spells, Gilbane's magic will mean nothing here. However the edge still goes to Gilbane as he has 1 extra attack dice and 1 extra space movement. Asides from that these two are at equal strength.

The Gargoyle emerges from the gate and awaits his opponent, careful not to go too far across the Arena.
Kedrick Gilbane is out next, scouting the Gargoyle. Unable to reach it he casts Fear on the Bloodthirster. The Gargoyle is immune and fearlessly goes for the attack, rolling a perfect attack of 4 :skull:s! This is enough to kill the Death Knight. However, Gilbane, with his 5 defense dice manages 1 :blackshield:,dropping to 1BP. But that's not dead.
Kedrick Gilbane 1-ups the Guardian with a 5 :skull: attack! With 5 defense dice the Gargoyle only rolls 1 :blackshield:, dealing 4vdanage, ending the Bloodthirster's life.
Kedrick Gilbane advances to the next round after a rather quick but brutal match.

Re: HeroQuest Blood Sport!!!

Nelath had defeated Bellthor in the first round and is now moving on to bigger and better challenges. As a reminder, she has 4 attack and 4 defense dice, 7 Body Points and 3 Mind Points that can only be lost due to discourse. That gives her opponents 2ceays to defeat her, by reducing her to 0 Body Points, or by convincing Nelath that she's not evil by rolling 1 attack dice. On a roll of a :whiteshield: she'll lose a mind point. Otherwise the Spirit Queen is undead and not susceptible to losing mind points. Nelath had 4 spells at her disposal: Command, Fear, Firestorm & Lightning Bolt; she may cast 2 at once if she so chooses.

Melar's team managed to defeat King Archaloneus' from the Tomb of Hate with only 1 Abomination as the survivor. Since his team was not defeated and Melar is not a fighter, he will be joining the Abomination for this battle.

Nelath vs Melar & 1 Abomination

Nelath is the first out of the gate and she waits for her opponents, showing no apprehension.

Both Melar and the Abomination run out, unable to reach Nelath so they attempt to sow discourse with her. The Abomination fails to say anything of note, but Melar reaches her and she suffers 1 mind point of memory damage.
Shaking it off she fires a Lightning Bolt through the Abomination, killing it.
Melar casts Summon Orcs, rolling a :roll6: summoning 6 Orcs to do his bidding. Melar flees once the spell is cast, leaving the arena. The Orcs close in for the attack. The Orc Archer fires an arrow that she blocks. The Orcs are rather fast, 2 circle the pillar to take Nelath from behind (not like that). Together the force her down to 5 Body Points. The Orc with the Warhammer runs in to aid them, but she blocks his attack. The two remaining Orcs stay to the sidelines, singing a chant that will hopefully persuade Nelath to be good again, but neither one seem to reach as her as they both rolled a :skull:.

Nelath casts Firestorm, which causes 3 damage, but only 2 can be defended. This causes all the Orcs in the arena to burn up, leaving Nelath as the victor.
