Since the new screenshots of the new artwork remain in the same style, I undoubtedly think that this will be a faithful representation//re-print of the game.

The other element I was thinking about :
Think about it... Hasbro probably saw the rise of the HQ25th anniversary kickstarter... anybody would be absolutely convinced that there is a market for Classic HeroQuest when seeing over 800'000$ of crowdfunding.

I am thinking ; Hasbro probably got tired of GameZone, and decided to do it themselves. GameZone would be lucky to actually have permission to continue HQ25th in parallel to HQ_2020.

Roll anything but a black shield on 1 white die to avoid spillage. If you have the Mop and Bucket of Cleaning artifact, you may tidy up the accident.

If I was Hasbro I would definitely not copy everything 1:1
Amazing as HeroQuest is, it's certainly not a perfect game.

But IF they keep ONE thing 1:1... I hope they keep the board layout exactly as is, which is basically the one component you need to make everything compatible back and forth.
You can use the new quests with your retro HQ. You can play all the old quests with your new components.
If I could dictate one thing, this would be it.

Yes, keeping the board the same would be an amazing thing. However, Hasbro is probably going to change the layout of the new game.

I see it going modular.

I would love to see it modular like Space Crusade or Mice and Mystics with huge board sections that can be rearranged. Hopefully there are no single rooms and corridors. But on the other hand, the original board has also a variable quest design and is easier to set up. The durability is also superior than single sections which have to be connected which each other.

How about this for wishful thinking;
Double sided board. One side showing the exact same layout, for all the excellent points made by GK earlier. The other side showing a completely new layout (a cavern or similar, hopefully with some larger rooms for bigger battles).

I was going to ask for slightly bigger squares, but then we would struggle to fit our existing tiles.

Also a foldable board like CRANIUM would also be interesting. It can be closed for the basic map and sections can be opened to expand the board and make the game longer (bigger map)

I would buy reprints (and all expansions). But i'm betting on some App-assisted collaborative "all against the iPad-witch-lord" version, where nobody has to be Morcar/Zargon anymore (which is one of the most fun spots to play, though). The art looks good. The right amount of old-school, and yet crispy. Wallet is ready. Send the bill. I hope the "board-map" is the same, because 'im 3D printing a good version of it, and that's costly and time-consuming. So i hope it'll also be able to play the "2020-heroQuest" version as well as the old versions.

On a side note, I have a Question:
- Does anybody know where to find decent stl files of the Wizards of Morcar miniatures? (or replacement figurines)? (or figurines of the elf pack?) they are impossible to find.
