Also if they do a full retail after this (full meaning all the countries) then the have a good pulse "advertisment" and then get 100% of the monies.

Or they are idiots and think that a NAcentric HeroQuest release on Hasbro Pulse will outperform a world wide Kickstarter release...it is Hasbro, who knows what they are thinking.

You are incredibly mistaken if you believe that a Kickstarter release would have been world wide. Translation costs money, first off, so there's that whole hurdle to clear. Beyond that, they don't own the rights to the HeroQuest name in Europe, which would quite simply put us in the same situation we're in now - US and Canada only, with third party retailers providing shipping to the UK, Australia, and New Zealand - Except Hasbro would also be paying a cut to Kickstarter. There would be no EU shipping, just like now.

Does anybody have anything concrete to back up the claim that people nowadays prefer the cartoony art as seen on the new box cover, to more realistic sword and sorcery art? I’ve heard that thrown around a lot lately. I could be true, I suppose. We live in a world in which the adults are more infantilised now than they were in the eighties. Its also possible that children were more respected by game designers in 1989 than they are now.
I’m hearing that kids and adults prefer the crappy cartoon art with gigantic oversized weapons, but where is the hard evidence? Isn’t is just as likely that developers are using cheaper and easier techniques rather than proper artists, and that people are not “choosing” this stuff but rather having it forced on them. Personally, there are a lot of games that I think I would enjoy, but have been put off from buying due to the artistic infantilism.

I work with a lot of the new generation adults and they are a lot like infants still in their mentality. Obviously not as a whole but definitely as a majority.

So they have a downloadable quest. https://heroquest.avalonhill.com/en-us/article/heroquest_rogars_hall
I don't know if I have anything good to say about it.
1.) It is a 'training quest' but it is way to hard for new characters (You can tell that just at a glance... There is a room with 3 chaos dread warriors in it the 2 chaos warrior room in The Trial is a death trap.)
2.) I literally cannot tell what monsters are what at a glance. (I think I've got them all through process of elimination, but the quest map is not somewhere to flex your artist muscle, it is where you ask yourself can a 7 year old understand the picture? and if the answer is no you fix it.)
3.) The map itself is hard on my eyes. (This may just be me... but it is hard to look at.)
4.) There is no letter G on the actual map. I'm assuming it goes by the secret door by the ?zombies? in the hall to the east of the center room, but that is just an assumption.

i'm going to have to disagree, I didn't have any problem discerning the monsters at all. It looks considerably more difficult than the original trial, like you said, 3 chaos warriors at once? I like how there is some minor description of some mechanics, like the dread amulet for the gargoyle causing a chaos spell to be cast? Special goblins? Very interesting Id say

750 gold coins for winning? I believe the original was 150, so seems like buying items will be easy or they'll have an increased price. This could also mean that there will be an extended armory with higher level items, so again this looks very promising to me so far

Getting into nitpicks here but the 3 abomination room next to another abomination is bad design (due to components) there are only 3 abominations in the base game and there are now multiple spells that could get the hero to the room directly next to each other...

I actually prefer the old artwork better. It was very artistic setting a doom 'n gloom story with 4 brave heroes surrounded by evil, yet they fight valiantly.
This new cartoonish stuff doesn't really get me invested, partially why I never got into Munchkin.
This might be more of a dumbed down tactic because the intelligence factor of people has been declining by the generation.
Kinda like when certain book to movie plots are brought down significantly because they don't think ths audience is smart enough to follow it. In like manner, consumers are treated like children. So the mood has changed to be more considerably light-hearted.

I don't like it... maybe I'm old fashion. Actually, I'd like to make a poll of this now and find out what everyone else in the community thinks.

If GW wanted it to be clear then they would have put it in one of the army books or rule books, and they must have their reasons for specifically avoiding doing so in the last four or so of those since it was written in the 40k books.

Page 159, Warhammer extended rulebook (in Ancient History: The New Races): "From the wilderness came the greenskinned Orcs and Goblins, their insidious spores perhaps unwittingly introduced to the world upon the star vessels of the Old Ones."

They appear as the forth race to populate the world after Lizardmen, Elves and Dwarfs. Judging by the "spores" comment, they follow 40k and are fungi-based.

FYI not all warhammer lore comes from or is stated in army books/codexes that’s only 1/3 the other 2/3 come from novels and white dwarf magazine articles.

:o By Jove you are right there, in the Warhammer 8th edition rulebook printed in 2010 you found a single sentence in the history fluff that mentions greenskins and spores. Huh, how about that. Strange how it was never mentioned in the previous 27 years of Warhammer Fantasy as an official orc/goblin origin since its inception in 1983. Looks like a very minor late retcon to me.
Still, that makes fungus orcs official canon for 8th ed. at least I suppose. With the whole starships of the elder race blah blah boring stuff that they really developed late in the product line it feels like they were trying to tie 40k and fantasy into the same universe.

The 2013 Skarsnik novel is interesting in that it goes into more depth on the subject, but lots has been printed in GW novels that was declared noncanon for the game system so a novel reference is not a slam dunk either. Considering they ended the Warhammer fantasy world anyway in 2014, the point is probably moot, but official world canon is strictly from the published game books (rules and army books), secondary ephermal sources such as magazines and novels always get an asterisk explanation that the material might not be canon. Established Lore, on the other hand, you are correct would be from any source including websites or magazines or any other published materials by GW related to the Warhammer world.

now if we apply this logic to HeroQuest only the printed material in the game and expansions would be canon (with acknowledged differences in the N.A. and EUR. versions) and the novels and magazines such as WhiteDwarf articles or Marvel Winter Special that firmly tie HeroQuest to the Warhammer world would be Canon with an asterisk. If we add in Advanced HeroQuest or even Warhammer Quest or the HQ sorisil video game the waters muddy even further. You must either claim all publications from the official source (MB/GW) as canon, or limit it strictly to the official HeroQuest game material.

This is why a stretch goal figure that doesnt "fit" into the HeroQuest world by itself might not matter that much per se, but if that 3 million stretch goal Questbook canonizes that stupid Shrek boyband Orc bard that is a drastic and unwelcome departure from any other orc in HeroQuest history, we've got a major problem on our hands and a serious retcon of the entire HeroQuest setting set in stone. (at least for the new reboot version published by Hasbro...) not sure many old schoolers would accept that canon retcon for the original Milton Bradley/Hasbro/Games Workshop version of HeroQuest.

Oh I totally see your point on how it feels like they were trying to tie 40k and fantasy into the same universe you are correct. There is a end times book i believe (dont have the qoute on had) where the skaven happen apon a Lizardman/Soteck temple and find some weird stone portal device. So the warlock engineers start fiddling with it and activate it seemingly opening a rift to the warp and through it they herd voices similar to 40k Eldar/Dark Elder. The skaven panicked and blasted it with rattling guns and warpfire throwers before anything could come through.
