I like the fact the Heroes are male and female. Just wish they were different poses from each other... My daughter always plays with female Heroes. I don’t like that the new bonus Heroes aren’t male or female. Limits them, my daughter wants females but my boys want males. I was just saying I don’t get with the monsters. I don’t see why there needed to be gender specific Orcs for example. Zombies make sense though as they are turned Humans.

In Orcland (homebrew setting) all green skins, elves, and dwarves are genderless. Orcs are fungi, elves spout from trees, and all dwarves are literally gifts from god. (When another dwarf is desired they smith a very fancy egg and bury it, if the dwarf God is happy with the egg a dwarf hatches else you have an metal egg covered in dirt.) Also no 1/2 races in Orcland.

I try to have my non-human races be as non-human as possible.

There’s ~17 days left in the Crowdfunding Campaign so we’re on track for closer to ~2.6M for North American assuming nothing added for UK/AU/NZ. We will probably hit 2.8M at least Globally.

2.8 is a good number. I feel bad for when they put up the 3 million quest book and bard thing for individual sale and no one buys them...

Ya know, they could've made a lot more money if they sold this through kickstarter.

I’m not sold that they would have.

Kickstarter charges 5% for their base fee, and then there’s the payment processor fee of 3% plus a per-pledge fee. So right off the top you’re getting 8% taken out.

A $2.4M pledge amount (where they are now) basically is basically getting a minimum of $192k taken out in fees. Why give money to another company when they can do it in house?

Hasbro already has a crowdfunding platform, and they have their own in-house setup for payments and shipping.

Sure, perhaps they would have opened it to elsewhere in the world... but this is a product in English. And they’re selling the product in the major English speaking markets currently.

Kickstarter has more exposure though. I think they would have reached a broader audience and made more off of it that way.

I didn't even know they had their own crowdfunding platform before this, and if I wasn't a part of the community, I probably never would have even heard that there was a remake happening.

But what if this isn't about making money with HeroQuest bit is instead about getting people to know Hasbro Pulse is a thing.

Also if they do a full retail after this (full meaning all the countries) then the have a good pulse "advertisment" and then get 100% of the monies.

Or they are idiots and think that a NAcentric HeroQuest release on Hasbro Pulse will outperform a world wide Kickstarter release...it is Hasbro, who knows what they are thinking.

They would have needed to do translation to do a proper global release.

I’m of the feeling that the reason we haven’t seen it hit other countries is because they haven’t translated the game from English, and weren’t planning on doing so in the initial release. So, English only, and that limits the countries to sell in. (Which also explains the Quebec shipping issue.)

Well they should get working on some localizations. Then everyone can complain about the druid, and not just those of us who read/speak English.
