Lair of the Orc Shaman vs Eerie of the Storm Master

The Storm Master won the roll off to come out first. He tried to keep his troops back far enough and cast Ice Wall to slow down the enemy coming out of their gates because they're very good with movement.

When the opposing gate opened 2 elite Orcs tried to break the Ice Wall right away but it held, only taking 1 damage. 1 elite Orc managed to attack a Dread Warrior with 4 :skull:s, the Dread Warrior only rolled 1 :blackshield:, sit it was enough to end him. Another elite Orc reached a goblin and only rolled 1 :skull:, which the goblin surprisingly blocked. One of Grawshak's goblin's ran over to to take it out, since it was the only other opponent they could reach, but that Goblin whiffed on attack. Grawshak know 's what's coming next so tries to help his team as much as possible with Shield of Protection.

A Goblin ran over and attacked 1 elite Orc, who ran around the Ice Wall, but 4 defense dice produced a needed :blackshield:. Boroush's Goblin killed one of Grawshak's Goblins. Boroush's Orc ran to help to first Goblin and managed to break the Elite Orc's shield. This gave Boroush the opportunity to infiltrate the enemy's side, appearing from the other end of the Ice Wall and casting Lightning Bolt, effecting Grawshak and 3 of his elite Orcs! The spell took out 2 Elite Orc's. After all of Boroush's minions attacked, Grawshak only had 2 Elite Orc's left whose Shield's held. One elite Orc rolled 2 :blackshield:s against the Dread Warrior, but 3 :skull:s were too much.

Grawshak casts Summon Goblins, they swarm, taking out 2 of Boroush's goblins and 1 Orc. The Elite Orcs go after the final DreX Warrior: the first deals 1 damage, the other manages to get in 2 unblocked, taking out the biggest threat.

Scanning the arena for alignments, casts Earthquake, swallowing 2 newly spawned goblins and 1 elite Orc. The last elite Orc was on the other side of the Earthquake, he'd need to use his whole next turn just to get around it with no one to attack. One Goblin had just enough movement to run around the Earthquake and attack the last elite Orc, but he blocked the attack. 2 of Boroush's goblins took out Grawshak's remaining Goblins. Boroush's last 2 soldiers, a goblin and Orc attacked Grawshak, only 1 damage went through.

Grawshak, realizing this might be his elite Orcs last turn, casts Orc Berserk. The Orc used his first attack to kill the goblin that attacked him, used movement to get around the Earthquake, used movement again to reach the last of Boroush's traitorous Orcs, and attacked with 3 :skull:s, taking him out.

Boroush's goblins surrounded and attacked the Elite Orc, finally laying him to rest. Boroush cast Thieving wind on Grawshak, taking away his weapon.
Grawshak casts Summon Orcs, bringing in 2 new allies. Instead of going after the goblins, they target Boroush, combing they dealt 3 damage to the Storm Master.

Boroush, with 3 goblin allies remaining, sent 1 to each of his opponents. 1 Goblin flopped, 1 killed an Orc and 1 brought Grawshak down to 3BP. The Storm Master then backs away and casts Blinding Sleet.
Grawshak managed a :skull: that took out the Goblin and the other Orc killed a goblin adjacent to him, neither could move.

The Goblin flopped trying to kill the last of Grawshak's Orcs. So Boroush took it upon himself. Despite rolling 6 attack dice only 1 :skull: was produced, that the Orc amazingly blocked.
Being the last time he could use it, Grawshak casts Sharpen Blades, allowing his Orc allie to attack the Storm Master, bringing Boroush down to 1BP!

The Goblin runs off and attacks Grawshak, rolling 2 :skull:s. Grawshak managed 1 :blackshield: and was down to 2BP. Boroush casts his last spell, Hurricane. The opposing Orc flies back, falling into the Earthquake chasm.
Grawshak only has 1 attack dice, but doesn't trust it enough to take out the Goblin attacking him. He'd have a better chance fending off 2 attack dice than 6 from the Storm Master. Using his last spell he summons a Spirit of Vengeance, attacking Boroush with :whiteshield: :skull: :skull: :whiteshield:. At 5 defense only 1 :blackshield: is produced, enough to take Boroush down to 1BP.

Grawshak now has an annoying little Goblin to outlast to win it for his team. The Goblin rolled 1 :skull:, Grawshak managed 2 :blackshield:s. Grawshak whiffs on his attack and runs away from the Goblin. The Goblin easily catches up, Grawshak keeps blocking.
Again, Grawshak whiffs and again he blocked the Goblin. For 3 more turns the same thing happened until Grawshak finally rolled a :skull:. Just his luck, the Goblin rolled a :blackshield:! The Goblin whiffed on his next attack, but Grawshak got another :skull: but the goblin rolled another :blackshield:! The Goblin finally brought Grawshak down to 1BP. Grawshak couldn't produce another :skull: for the rest of the match. The Goblin finally rolled 2 :skull:s that Grawshak was unable to block. The one lone goblin pulled it off for the Storm Lord!

Crypt of the Necromancer vs Eerie of the Storm Master

The Crypt won on the Dice rolls and ate first out of the gate. Fanrax leads his troops out and adds another one to the ranks but Summoning a Mummy. The slow movement creates cramming issues out of the gate, but the group are back far enough that most of the Storm Master's army won't reach them.
Only 2 of Boroush's Goblins could dash across the arena for an immediate attack, but both flop against a Skeleton and Dread Warrior. Boroush, however sees an opportunity as Fanrax, 2 Skeletons and 2 Mummies are in line. He casts Earthquake, swallowing the 2 elite skeletons, but the mummies and Fanrax are able to climb out. This also puts a Mummy and skeleton behind the Earthquake, they'll have to waste precious movement getting around.

The Dread Warrior attacks the Goblin that just attacked him with 1 :skull: and the Goblin surprisingly blocked it. This minor victory was cut short as the Mummy crawled out of the Earthquake and tackled the Goblin. Another Dread Warrior charges forward and takes out an Orc. Fanrax backs out of the Earthquake and called 2 Skeletons forth across the arena to attack 2 Goblins, both were successful in eliminating a foe. An Elite Skeleton takes out a Goblin, opening up space for another Mummy to crawl out of the Earthquake and take out another Goblin. 1 Dread Warrior slaughter's another Goblin with a 4 :skull: attack Fanrax's Dread Warrior attacks Boroush's Dread Warrior, dealing 2 damage, but not a kill.

All of Fanrax's Goblin infantry has been taken out leaving him with 2 Dread Warriors, 1 Orc and an arsenal of spells. He gave the order for his remaining troops to move back. The Orc took out a newly spawned Skeleton. A Dread Warrior delt 1 damage to an opposing Dread Warrior before backing off. The Other Dread Warrior, did the same. Only 1 kill this turn. But Boroush folks through with his plan, casting Blinding Sleet. All opponents will be unable to move and none of his men are adjacent to any so they cannot attack.

All of Fanrax's team is blind and unable to move in the Sleet storm. Nor can he see anyone to cast spells.

As the storm clears, Boroush takes the opportunity to charge a Dread Warrior and attack, dealing 3 damage that went undefended, killing it. Boroush's Dread Warrior moves back to his previous foe and deals an additional 2 hits, taking out another Dread Warrior. The Orc runs into battle and takes out an elite skeleton. A 3rd Dread Warrior is dropped by Boroush's 2nd Dread Warrior. They did well to take out Fanrax's heavy hitters, but they're still greatly outnumbered.

One mummy creeps forward slowly around the Earthquake chasm, not able to reach anyone. One Mummy pounces on an Orc, biting his throat out. One of Boroush's Dread Warriors gets surrounded by a Skeleton, Mummy and Dread Warrior, the 2 undead flopped on their attacks, the Dread Warrior rolled 3 :skull:s, but he managed 1 :blackshield: to stay in the fight. An Elite Skeleton goes after Boroush himself, but it rolled 3 :blackshield:s on it's attack. Both of Boroush's Dread Warriors are down to 1BP, so Fanrax casts Death Bolt, removing 1 from the arena.

The Surrounded Dread Warrior takes the head off the Mummy to get out of the predicament. The Storm Master in line with an elite Skeleton and the Dread Warrior casts Lightning Bolt., which was blocked by the elite skeleton and the Dread Warrior only took 1 damage. Boroush runs out of line from the Mummies so they can't catch him on their turn. Boroush is still out numbered and surrounded. The Elite Skeleton catches up to Boroush and hits him for 2BP. The regular skeleton flopped it's attack The Dread Warrior rolls 2 :skull:s, but they were both blocked. A mummy just barely reached Boroush's last Dread Warrior, but it's attack was blocked. Fanrax casts Fear on Boroush, forcing him unable to attack or cast spells, he will remain surrounded unable to move.

Boroush's Dread Warrior ditches the Mummy he had been fighting and stabs the Dread Warrior attacking his boss., giving the Storm Master an escape route.
The Undead turn their attention to the valiant Dread Warrior. The Elite Skeleton whiffed on his attack while the normal one managed 1 :skull: that was blocked. The Mummy wasn't able to get an attack in. The other Mummy managed to catch Boroush in his escape, and deal another damage, taking him down to 2BP. Fanrax casts Raise the Dead, allowing the Mummy to crawl out of the Earthquake as a Skeleton, attacking the Storm Master but missing. The Dread Warrior flops his attack and flees.

Fanrax casts Skulls of Doom, hurling an explosive Skull at the Dread Warrior, killing him in his retreat. Boroush gets surrounded by 2 skeletons and a mummy. They take him down to 1BP. Boroush kills the Mummy and tries to get away from the skeletons. The Elite Skeleton catches him but flops the attack. A normal one managed a :skull: that was blocked. Boroush easily takes out the Elite skeleton and continues to flee.
The Skeletons are unable to catch Boroush as Fanrax emerges from around the Earthquake.
Boroush goes after Fanrax and hits him for 3BP, taking the Necromancer's down to 1BP.. Fanrax replies in kind, producing a single :skull: that Boroush failed to block.

Fanrax and 2 of his skeletons survived the battle.

Tower of the High Mage vs. Lair of the Orc Shaman

The Orc Shaman starts off with a lot more troops and gain the advantage with 1st group out. As Soon as Grawshak comes out he casts Summon Orcs, adding 2 more to his team. They stay far back enough to guarantee first attack.

As Zanrath emerges he immediately casts Dispel on Grawshak, removing Summon Goblins from his hand of spells. The rest of his team forms a defensive entourage around him in phalanx formation.

The Orc Shaman casts Sharpen Blades as his Elite Orcs surround the High Mage's team. With 5 attack dice the first Orc gets 4 :skull:s a Dread Warrior was unable to counter. Another 4 :skull: roll is met with only 1 :blackshield:, killing a 2nd Dread Warrior. The Phalanx has shattered, as a other Elite Orcs dives into the fray, dealing 1 damage to a Dread Warrior. That same Dread Warrior is attacked again, losing his 2nd body points. A Goblin sneaks in and tries to finish him off, but fails on his attack. Another Elite Orc goes after the 4th Dread Warrior with 3 :skull:, only 1 was blocked. Another Elite Orc targets the Gargoyle with 3 :skull:, but the Gargoyle manages 3 :blackshield:, taking no damage.

3 Orcs are immediately killed as the High Mage's warriors fight back. The Dread Warrior shifts his movement as Zanrath covered their Left flank with a Wall of Flame. A Goblin and 2 Elite Orcs manage to douse the flames, wasting their attacks just to put out the fire. One Elite Orc runs in to take out Zanrath himself, but only 1 hit goes through.

Grawshak casts Orc Berserk on one of the Elite Orcs, who runs in after a Dread Warrior, but whiffs on his first attack. Making a 2nd attack for 2 :skull:s, that the Dread Warrior managed to block. That Orc, in turn, retreats. A regular Orc steps in to take his place, producing 1 :skull:, which was also blocked. One Goblin tries to get in an attack but completely whiffs.

Zanrath casts Rust on one of the Elite Orc's weapons, reducing that Orc to 1 combat dice. The Gargoyle takes out an Orc that doused the flames, A Dread Warrior strikes down a regular Orc, while the other Warrior notes that the Goblin is small potatoes and goes after another. Zenrath's team just evened the odds and Grawshak has no Goblins to summon.

Grawshak casts Shield of Protection as his Elite Orc runs back in to attack and kill a Dread Warrior. 1 Goblin goes after the High Mage with 2 :skull:s, only 1 was blocked, Zanrath is at 3 BP.. The other Goblin tries his luck with a Gargoyle, but it was blocked. The unnarmed Orc throws a mailed fist into the Gargoyle's face, dealing 1 damage.

Zanrath casts Strands of Binding on the Elite Orc while the Gargoyle and Dread Warrior take out the remaining Goblins.

Grawshak moves to the end of the Arena and casts Spirit of Vengeance on the Gargoyle for 3 :skull:s, the Gargoyle managed 1 :blackshield:, but the remaining 2 :skull: dropped him to 0BP. The elite Orc managed to break the strands as the unarmed Orc jumped on the back of the Dread Warrior. Zanrath is all alone now. He casts Madness on the elite Orc and sends him across the arena, it would take him 2 moves to reach him.

The only Orc close enough to attack the High Mage is unarmed, but he's has considerable success without it. He misses this time and Grawshak approaches.
Out of the 2 options Zanrath sees Grawshak as the bigger threat and goes on the attack. With 5 attack dice 3 :skull:s are produced and the Orc Shaman failed to block any of them.
Grawshak returns the attack 3 :skull:s of his own. The High Mage managed 2 :blackshield:, down to 2BP. The unarmed Orc failed his attack while the last of the elites runs halfway across the arena.
The High Mage only has escape left, but instead tries to finish off Grawshak with 3 more :skull:s. Grawshak managed to block 1 but the other 2 were enough to kill him. The High Mage flees with that victory. The Elite Orc was just out of reach of Zanrath but the unarmed one gave chase and tackled him to the ground, using his mailed fist to bring the High Mage down to 1BP. Before he can finish the job Zanrath casts Escape and is taken to the other end of the arena where they can't touch him.

The 2 remaining Orcs give chase, putting themselves in Range and the High Mage reaches the elite Orc first, striking his head off with his staff. The unarmed Orc, the only one left on his team, throws a fist at Zanrath. Zanrath gracefully moves, catches the arm and snaps it at the elbow, followed by a palm thrust to the Orc's nose, breaking bone and sending it into his brain. Zanrath, with an amazing upset, defeats the Lair of the Orc Shaman!

Therefore the results are:
1 win for the High Mage as they defeat the Orc Shaman
2 wins for the Necromancer over the Storm Master & High Mage
1 Win for the Orc Shaman, defeating the Crypt of the Necromancer
2 wins for the Storm Master, defeating the Tower of the High Mage and Lair of the Orc Shaman

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » January 18th, 2026, 10:36 pm

I'm going to be going through a series of boss fights. The Heroes encounter numerous monsters but not all of them are considered bosses. Most bosses are named, but they are often to objective of a quest if not guarding the objective. There can only be one big bad guy in a quest, so for instance if we're looking at the Fortress of the Ogre Lord, Xenolith would be considered a mini boss while the central room is what I'd be counting. Sometimes the boss comes with an entourage to aid in the fight l, so they'll be welcome too. But if the boss starts off in the room alone he'll only be able to rely on himself.

While Borokk may not be the final villain in the East Gate, and could potentially be delegated as a mini-boss, the threat he poses to the heroes is monumental. He could potentially take out the Barbarian with mind flaying ability. He's also a formidable fighter with stats equal to a Dread Warrior. If there were other monsters in the same room as him he'd be much more formidable. He should be able to hold his own against a Gargoyle.

The Guardian of Grin's Crag is no ordinary Gargoyle, enhanced with an additional body point and an immunity to all spells. When up against this Gargoyle, you shall not pass!

Borokk vs Guardian of Grin's Crag

Borokk is the first out of the gate so it almost certain to get first attack.
The Guardian Gargoyle is out next, confident in its abilities, bites the bullet, offering Borokk to come at him.
Borokk obliges, with 4 attack dice, rolling 2 :skull:s. The Guardian fails to roll any :blackshield:s in defense, taking 2 damage. But Borokk's not done, going for mind flay. However, this is designated as a Magical attack, so the Guardian laughs at him, unharmed.
Taking up his 4 attack dice, resulting in 3 :skull:s!
Had Borokk not rolled a :blackshield: he would have been done for. He's down to 1BP and can potentially end it here.
Borokk strikes at the Gargoyle for 2 :skull:s.
With 5 defense, the guardian managed 1 :blackshield:, staying in the fight just long enough to strike back, cutting Borokk in half with his attack.
The Guardian of Grin's Crag is victorious!

Re: HeroQuest Blood Sport!!!

Postby wallydubbs » January 19th, 2026, 1:26 am

Nelath is the main villain of Spirit Queen's Torment but also the Paramore of Syilvana, one of Mentor's diviners. I assume that makes her some type of Oracle or fortune teller. Silvana takes over the tutelage of the heroes in this quest pack, as Kavra's ability to simultaneously cast Dread & Elemental magic is traced back to Nelath. Nelath is not inherently evil, but her spirit appears to be under some sort of spell. Zargon had killed Nelath years ago and torments her spirit to do his bidding. She has 4 attack and defense dice with 6 body points, difficult for any one hero or lone monster to kill. Her mind points are at 3 but do not work the traditional way Mind Points work as she is already undead. The Mind Points offer a 2nd way to defeat her, talking her to death! Her opponents could opt out to convince her of her brainwashing, relying on a :whiteshield: to do 1 Mind Point of damage. Until she is either defeated physically or mentally she has 4 attack dice and 4 spells (Command, Fear, Lightning Bolt & Firestorm) at her disposal, but is also able to cast 2 at a time. As a lone opponent to the heroes, the 4 on 1 advantage easily sides with the heroes. But being that they're supposed to be the good guys, conversation would be their default method of dealing with her. I doubt her opponents would grant her peace and respite in this way.

Belthor is another Gargoyle with advanced stats, but not the same as the Guardian from the previous match. Though not granted an extra body point or spell immunity, Bellthor has 6 defense dice and a special noxious gas attack that effects his opponents mind points. This would be very deadly to any hero or monster. Unfortunately for Bellthor this round's opponent is undead and his gas attack would be useless.

Nelath vs Bellthor

Nelath is out first and just waits for her opponent
Bellthor steps out of the gate, unable to reach Nelath.
Nelath doesn't even have to move, she casts Fear and Firestorm at the same time. Firestorm itself can do 3BP of damage, but Bellthor rolled :roll6: :roll4: :roll1:, taking 2 damage from the fire.
He then immediately breaks the Fear spell despite having 1 mind point less than a normal Gargoyle. He goes in for the attack, but only 1 :skull: is produced.
Nelath fails to block and takes a damage.
She retaliates rolling 2 :skull:s.
Despite having 6 defense dice, Bellthor did not produce a single :blackshield:. Quick work by Nelath grants her an early win. She'll be meeting the Bloodthirster Guardian in the next round.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » January 19th, 2026, 3:28 pm

The Keeper of the Dread Shrine was the one to crown Zargon the Dark Lord Morcar and creator of the Minotaur, Dread Shifters and Golems. She is also known as the Artificer. Six unique spells specifically tailored to the Artificer makes her stand out among her competitors: she can conjure up a Golem.and Dreadshifter to aid her in battle, in the event that the Keeper is killed but one of her creations defeat her opponent, this will go down as a draw. Hammer of Ruin gives the Keeper a lasting boost to her attack, so long as she's able to cause damage with it. Scrolls of Morcar give her a necessary protective shield that absorbs her first few hits of damage. Leech Life allows her to reclaim body points at the expense of her opponents, granting her a substantially longer fight. Her last spell Beseeched Dread Powers, giving her an extra life in this form or a Gargoyle. It could also potentially finish off an opponent if they have 2 body points left.
She's a fierce warrior with 4-6 attack dice, depending on her Hammer spell, 5 Body Points that can be revived or ignored due to other spells, but she only has 3 defense dice, which makes her far more susceptible to losing body points.

Magrian is the final boss in Rise of the Dread Moon as she just comes out of nowhere with no prior mention of her, only hints that she might be from the Realm of Reflection. Clearly this is the entity that the Dread Cultists follow, but I think she clearly deserved a little more reveal. Regardless, Magrian is astutely powerful with 4 Dread Spells and 4 Special abilities, all can be used once. Channel Dread, Dread Lights, Fear and Summon Specters. She can use Terror to prevent an opponent from attacking for 1 turn, consume magic to regain health, deflect damage onto another opponent and cast an additional spell on her turn. However, in addition to all this Magrian is ethereal and only takes damage on a Blackshield, unless being attacked with a Magical weapon... As it just so happens, the Artificer 's Hammer of Ruin is magical.

The Keeper vs Magrian

The Artificer is out of the gate first and right off the bat, casts Scrolls of Morcar.
Magrian floats through the walls and pillars of the Arena, but Artificer has kept her distance. Magrian, unable to reach her, uses Shift Reality to Summon Specters, rolling a :roll5:, 2 Specters join her side. Having the specters beside her she casts Channel Dread. A :roll6: was rolled, resulting in an 8 for 2 damage, but the Artificer's Scrolls of Morcar protects her. The other 2 Specters also cast Channel Dread resulting in a :roll4: + 2 for 6, resulting in 2 damage. The other rolled a :roll6:, boosted to 7 because they're all adjacent to one another. Scrolls of Morcar absorb that damage of those as well, breaking the spell.

Artificer casts Conjure Golem, which appears beside Magrian, but failed to roll a :blackshield:.
Magrian casts Dread lights on the Golem, which takes hold after it rolled :roll1:, the Specters go for the attack, raised to 4 attack dice. The first only rolled 1 :skull:, which the Golem failed to block. The other managed a perfect 4 :skull: hit, taking out the Golem.
The Keeper summons a Dread Shifter, which tries to take a bite out of Magrian. 1 :blackshield: is produced by both the Shifter and Wraith, no damage done.
One specter floats across the arena to go after the Artificer, but can't reach so it casts Channel Dread, rolled :roll5: dealing 1 damage to the Keeper.
Magrian attacks the Dread Shifter, landing only 1 hit. The other Specter flopped it's attack.

The Keeper casts Hammer of Ruin as she prepares to go on the attack. Her Dread Shifter failed to produce any hits on Magrian.
On Magrian 's turn she destroys the Dread Shifter and then floats to join her Specter closest to the Artificer. The other Specter follows suit as once joined with its ethereal partners casts Channel Dread, for :roll6:, dropping the Artificer to 2BP. The other Specter also applies Channel Dread, rolling a :roll1:, raised to 3 by adjacent spellcasters, dealing no damage.
The Keeper casts Leech Life, though not having suffered any damage, it cancels the effect of the spell.

Magrian glides across the arena as the Artificer retreats and casts Fear on her as the Specters creep in for the attack. The first specter rolled 1 :skull:, which was blocked, the 2nd one rolled 2 that the Artificer took, dropping to 0BP. But she Beseeches Dread Powers, rolled a :roll6:. In her death, the air chills, eliminating the Specters and dealing 2 damage to Magrian. Regardless, the contest is over, Magrian has defeated the Artificer... She didn't even get to use her Hammer...

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » January 20th, 2026, 2:09 am

Jrack Fost is the boss of the Gremlins, slightly bigger than the rest of them and whilst doesn't appear in Frozen Horror he's the main boss in Into the Northlands with 3 attack dice and 4 body points, 1 more BP & AD than any normal Ice Gremlin. However due to being overweight, he's slightly slower. Fost knows the Tempest spell. He doesn't stand alone as a Yeti serves as his muscle. Just a normal yeti with 5BP. However when fighting a singular opponent the Yeti won't use the Hug.

Spawn of the Pit is the first single opponent after 2 teams in the Arena. With these forms combined his body points exceed the combined of Jrackfost & the Yeti. Starting off with only 4 Body Points, he has 4 attack dice. But once defeated Spawn of the Pit becomes engaged, dropping most of his defense to focus on attack, movement and body points he becomes a force to be reckoned with.

Jrackfost & Yeti vs Spawn of the Pit

Jrackfost & the Yeti are out first, deciding to split the arena. Both have 8 movement and Spawn of the Pit can't attack both of them.
When Spawn of the Pit emerges he heads to the Yeti, but can't reach him. Yeti gets first attack, clobbering Pit Spawn for 2 Body Points. Jrackfost is across the arena and runs over to help, but is just short of reaching his target.
Spawn of the Pit rolls a perfect attack with 4 :skull:s, the Yeti only manages to block 1, taken down to 2 Body Points.
Jrackfost and the Yeti attack. The Yeti flops on his attack but Jrackfost deals 2 damage, to drop Spawn of the Pit to 0BP and become enraged.
Spawn of the Pit is enraged with 5 attack dice and deals 2 more damage to the Yeti, killing it. After dispersing the Yeti Spawn the Pit runs off having 2 spaces over Jrackfost.
The Ice Gremlin gives chase but can't catch him and thus casts Tempest to ensure the next attack. Jrackfost manages 1 :skull:. With only 1 defense dice of course Spawn the Pit takes 1 BP.
Despite having 5 attack dice Spawn of the Pit completely flops his attack.
The Ice Gremlin scores 2 addition hits on his next attack.
Spawn of the Pit fires back, getting 2 :skull:s. But the Ice Gremlin managed 1 :blackshield:, dropping to 3BP.
Jrackfost 's next attack comes with 3 :skull:s. He jams his icicle down Spawn of the Pit's throat for the win.

Boss Battles!

Postby wallydubbs » January 20th, 2026, 9:31 pm

Qwindrak seems to be be a Rogue operative of Dread delving into a monstrous practice known as Synchroform. He's the main villain of First Light. He's the reoccurring villain that the heroes need to defeat over and over again. His constant vanishing just becomes annoying. The Witch Lord only does this trick twice within two quest packs, Qwindrak will do it twice in a single quest. He's first encountered in the Warlock of Tuel-Vor, as he's already achieved the Dragon Shapeshift. However in this quest he can't hold the form for long as he only has 3 Body Points. But he's accompanied by his Abomination assistant. A small team that could potentially dominate the arena with the Dragons Fire attack, but he also has a Sleep spell.

Krag is the lieutenant of the Frozen Horror. Part of me wonders if they actually even met as it's a long way up Ice Mountain. But just the same he operates an outpost off of Xanon Pass. He has more attack dice and body points over the average Dread Warrior and is accompanied by a Yeti. This should make them a relatively equal pair to fight the Dragon.

Qwindrak (Dragon) & Abomination vs. Krag & Yeti

Unfortunately, this battle ended before it even started. The Dragon underestimated the speed of his own flight. The Abomination ran straight out while the dragon took a high flight path to the Northern end of the arena... Unfortunately, both overstepped the center of the arena. The Yeti, with an outstanding 8 movement had just enough space to reach the Dragon and threw a massive punch, :skull: :skull: :skull:. The Dragon failed to roll a :blackshield: and immediately turned back into Qwindrak, just to vanish from the arena.
In like manner Krag had just enough movement to clash with the Abomination. 2 :skull:s with no defense took out the Abomination, giving Krag and the Yeti a win.

This came down to the lack of planning from Qwindrak, as if he and the Abomination kept their distance they could've had first attack.

Kavra seems to be the soul beneficiary of Nelath's inner workings in Spirit Queen's Torment, she is the leader of the brigands and stand's guard over Nelath's tomb. Kavra's a Gargoyle able to cast Elemental & Dread Magic at the same time, you can guarantee she'll be using this ability in the next fight. Assisting Kavra will be a Goblin & Abomination, making this team a greater threat.

Ulag, the Orc Warlord responsible for the imprisonment of Sir Ragnar, holds a special place in Zargon's legions of terror. Ulag commands respect from all the Orcs, and even after his death that just brings more to Zargon's forces. With 4 attack dice, 5 defense and 2 body point, most Orcs should be envious of his power. Standing by him in battle are 2 Goblin squires and a BB effy Dread Warrior, solidifying Ulag's close connection to the Dread Forces.

Kavra, Abomination & Goblin vs Ulag, Dread Warrior & 2 Goblins

Kavra is followed out by the Abomination and Goblin. It seemed like a safe distance away, but they weren't counting on Ulag having 10 space movent as well as his Goblins. Ulag burst out of the gate and charged Kavra. Before she could even react, Ulag was upon her, swinging wildly. 3 :skull:s are produced, but Kavra managed 2 :blackshield:'s, staying in the fight.
The Dread Warrior had just enough movement to reach the Abomination. He rolled 2 :skull:s to take it out, but the Abomination blocked 1. The 2 other goblins storm out to help the Dread Warrior finish off the Abomination. The Abomination blocked 1 Goblin, but the numbers game was too much, the 2nd Goblin took him out.

Kavra moves back from Ulag, making a line from himself to the Dread Warrior. She casts both Lightning Bolt & Ball of Flame. 2 Damage from the Lightning Bolt takes out a Goblin and hurts the Dread Warrior for 2 Body Points. The Ball of Flame was sent after Ulag, but he rolled :roll4: & :roll6:, only taking 1 damage.
Kavra's Goblin ally, who had been keeping her distance, jumps into battle, hacking away at Ulag's squire.

The Dread Warrior, still has 1 Body Point left, approaches the Goblin and swings his mighty mace down. Despite ruling a :blackshield:, the Dread Warrior had actually rolled 2 :skull:'s, penetrating the Goblin's meager defense.
Ulag goes after Kavra again, hoping to finish her off. But 2 :skull:s was met with 1 :blackshield:. Kavra, Ulag & the Dread Warrior all have 1 Body Point remaining.

Kavra attacks Ulag for 1 :skull:, but Ulag blocked it.

The Dread Warrior hurries over to help Ulag, but the prideful Warlord calls the Dread Warrior off. "She's mine!" Ulag yells as he goes for a final attack. Unfortunately, it didn't work out as Ulag completely missed his opportunity. Kavra grabbed Ulag and ripped his head off.
The Dread Warrior rains down several blows from his mace as Kavra desecrates Ulag's body.

The Lair of the Orc Warlord lives with the Dread Warrior as the lone survivor.

King Archaloneus may or may not be the Mountain King involved in the fable, as he is found in the Tomb of Hate, which is in an underground human city, potentially caused by an Earthquake. The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness locations are all quite convoluted. Yet in the Forge of the Mountain King, a mummified Dwarf appears to be the boss, but not called a King. Archaloneus might be the Mountain King. Regardless, Archaloneus has more attack dice, body points, mind points and movement than an average Mummy. He also has 3 Dread Spells that could turn the battle in his favor: Sleep, Command & Rust. He also has 4 Skeletons in infantry to back him up.

Melar doesn't actually fight and just gets away in Melar Unleashed while possessing the body of an Abomination, so he's not actually given any stats to fight. Melar's engagement in this battle will be very minor, as his team is represented with an Abomination, Gargoyle & Goblin. Melar has 1 spell he can cast, and his part in the battle will be over.

King Archaloneus & 4 Skeletons vs Melar, Abomination, Gargoyle & Abomination

King Archaloneus leads out his Skeleton Warriors, 1 is armed with a bow.

Melar's team is out next. The Gargoyle and Abomination are unable to reach the Skeletons, but a Goblin is quick enough to traverse the arena and take out one of the Skeletons. Melar comes out, casts Summon Orcs to join his team and runs away from the battle. Rolling a :roll3: summons 4 Orcs to Melar's team. These Orcs immediately attack, 1 takes out a Skeleton, the other flops when going after the Archer and 2 team up against Archaloneus, one takes 2 Body Points from him, the other was blocked.

King Archaloneus is taken aback from the pain. He looks at the Orc that hurt him, thinking, 'You'll do.' Archaloneus casts Command on this Orc, who fails to resist this spell, and immediately turns again stone of her fellow Orcs, slicing it's head off with her sword. The Skeleton Archer backs away from the Orc that attacked it and fires an arrow into his throat. The other Skeleton goes after the Goblin, slicing it's head off with its scythe.

The Abomination uses its Spear to lop off the head of the Skeleton Archer, while the Gargoyle goes after the other Skeleton, rolling only 1 :skull:, that the Skeleton was surprisingly able to block. The Orc failed to break the command spell, but there was another Orc that went after Archaloneus, hitting him for another body point of damage. Archaloneus is now down to 1 Body Point.

Archaloneus uses his Sleep spell on the Orc, rolling :roll5: :roll6:, resisting the Sleep spell. Having used his action the undead king commands the other Orc to protect him. She runs him through with her sword, standing by her new master. The Skeleton attacks the Gargoyle, but he easily blocked her 1 :skull:.

The Gargoyle tears the Skeleton apart. He and the Abomination start heading across the arena to finish off the undead king. But Archaloneus' new Orc servant now stands in the way. She attacked the Gargoyle but whiffs on the dice. Archaloneus casts Rust on the Abomination's spear.
The spear crumples in it's hand, so with throws it down and tackles the Orc, failing to roll a :skull:, unable to kill it. It tells the Gargoyle to go after Archaloneus. The Gargoyle goes after him but is unable to reach the undead king. The afflicted Orc still cannot overcome the spell.

The Orc attacks the Abomination for 1 :skull:, but it was blocked. The Abomination resorts to clawing out the Orc's eyes and kills the Orc.
Meanwhile Archaloneus gets to the Gargoyle first and amazingly rolls a perfect attack with 4 :skull:. With 5 defense dice the Gargoyle only manages 1 :blackshield:... 3 hits go through, Archaloneus kills the Gargoyle.

Because of the Rust spell the Abomination can only roll 1 attack dice, but Archaloneus' has only 1 Body Point. The Abomination attacks, but fails to roll a :skull:. Archaloneus gets 2 :skull:s, but the Abomination blocked 1. Both reduced to 1BP. The Abomination gets a :skull:! With no :blackshield: in his defense, the Abomination takes out the potential mountain king! The Abomination wins it for team Melar.
