The Dread Veil Dice Set with Scroll Dice Mat and Storage was made available for purchase through Hasbro Pulse when initially it was a GenCon exclusive. Fans asked if it was going to be available at a later date. I think at the time they only stated that fan demands had been heard.

I think fan “whining” is a positive if done correctly and with respect. I also hope those that demand certain products actually purchase and support financially.

The decision to make the Dice/Mat retail was made very early I think, but then again the complaints that it BETTER NOT BE an exclusive were also made instantly as well.

The whining continued that it was not going to be available in other countries, so they quickly headed off that one too. I have no doubt that the AH guys wanted all the stuff to be retail everywhere, but they can't override Hasbro corporate's greedy ploys, results have to speak for themselves (thankfully they get the message, listen to your customers!).

So what items are Heroquest fans in general asking for next? Advanced Heroquest? The unfinished Dwarf and Wizard quests packs? I ask because Avalon Hill has been above and beyond perfect in terms of releasing what the fans want. Even RotDM which is entirely original introduced the alchemy deck which is beloved by most fans.

If I can be greedy for a second I’d like another quest pack by Stephen Baker. Also possibly tied to an original quest story/character.

At the risk of being repetitive:

Wizards of Zargon
the abandoned Dwarf and Wizard quest packs
Dark Company (possibly better as a small-box expansion vs an entire HQ Advanced game system)
Ratmen!!!!
Crypt of Perpetual Darkness - retail
more modular tiles that can transform the board into completely new and unexpected maps, and/or be used independently of the board
alternate gender sculpts for all of the heroes that don't yet have one.

And we already know Jungles of Delthrak is coming, which may or may not incorporate some of the above.
Come to think of it, if they did do an Advanced Game System box, it could include several of the above such as modular tiles, alt hero sculpts, ratmen, and even the Dark Company.

Things I do NOT want to see:

exclusives of any sort! Every fan should have fair opportunity to own everything that is released.
Translucent minis representing standard corporeal monsters. Don't break the standard color scheme unless the figure is representing some exceptional attributes.

Consider the original inclusion of rats and skulls and how those little details added value. They can include more small plastic details which could be used in different ways: frogs, mushrooms, spiders, potion flasks, books, sacks of coins, scorpions, bear traps, candles, torches, snails, bats, slime, crowns, keys, chalices, a cauldron, random piles of treasure, stools, etc. I'm not talking about new units with their own bases, or large furniture pieces. I'm talking about small details which shouldn't take a lot of plastic so that more of them could be included. The more of those little details they include and the more variety the better.

If they add new critters, they could maybe make some kind of critter trap cards, so instead of finding a spike trap, you are attacked by rats or spiders, acid snails, scorpions, etc. it could effectively be the same as a regular trap, but would give the opportunity to place some more mini's on the board. Or it could be like a pit trap where the hazard critters stay on the board the rest of the game unless "disarmed" just like a pit trap. Instead of using a tool kit, you could get some kind of critter poison. Critter traps would not be a trap proper, but would function the same way and would add more life and depth to the atmosphere of danger.

I would love to see all of the legacy stuff re-released in some form.

As for Jungles of Delthrak (we had a new stream speculating about it some more) I expect an original release of course... maybe it will be like ROTDM... more attempts to include fan dream items and popular clarifications and things and if they use the Dwarf setting that let's them tie in with KK and some of the lost Dwarf stuff but still have the freedom to create new things.

Edit: Now we know, of course... lots of fan feedback built this one, and even more Mythic stuff has been covered!

Updated to include First Light stuff. Jungles of Delthrak added new rule mechanic OPTIONS like the "incapacitated" way of handling hero death (three modes, in varying levels of difficulty) as well as letting the heroes re-organize their turn order every round if Zargon allows. They fit more little rule clarifications into Jungles of Delthrak (and some new ones into First Light) based on fan feedback online. So expect more re-written cards and questbook notes.

Time to start asking on social media why European fans won't have access to the "dice tray" (and why it's limited) to go with the Jungles of Dethrak dice in December...

Fans disliked the cover shown for First Light, and shared those feelings online... feeling that it looked too much like a copy & paste, even A.I. generated creation from Clarke Mitchell (notorious for having used A.I. in his released projects). They replaced it with a brand new cover from YellowFLY which was recieved much more positively.
