List of Quest Special Monsters/Allies

I use a figure for the genie spell and the elementals spells. of course I have a prisoner for sir ragnar and have different minis for all of the chaos warlock or orc boss stand ins. The miner, werewolves and princess in the elf quest have tiles instead of minis so I use figures for those too.

that is what I can remember off the top if my head without rereading the quest books. But basically any time it asks for a monster or npc I use a figure, I have an extensive collection.

Just curious, what are you using for Elemental figures? I use Reaper Bones large ("greater"?) elementals. They don't necessarily resemble the classic card images (which look much more anthropomorphic and the air looks like a Genie), but I think they look cool.

I thought somebody already made a complete list a few years ago. Perhaps I am wrong and it was on the German HQ-Cooperation Forum?

Aren't there some magical animated armours in the base game?

If there is, I could not find it.

I only saw the stone ones, which I would just consider a paint job.

From the book: "Zargon, you may tell the Heroes that these 4 Chaos Warriors are actually enchanted suits of armor. They were used centuries ago to test the fighting skills of Dwarven Warriors."

Up to you if you would consider them an "alternate paint job" or worthy of a different model. I would vote the latter as these enchanted suits of armor are not corrupted by the evil of chaos. Then again, I suppose that could just be represented by the paint job...

Ahh yes good catch. The way it reads they would be suits of Dwarf armor.

They wouldn't have to be (think about it). If you want to make them Dwarf size though, don't let that stop you!

I get it. Technically they could be armor from defeated Chaos Warriors that the Dwarves enchanted for practice. I prefer the idea that they were Dwarf armor.

I'm not sure if they qualify for your list, but what about the Quests included at the end of the Hero Quest novels? Off the top of my head, I can remember the Cabiri Lords from the Wizard's solo Quest, Running the Guantlet.

Good idea j_dean!
I remember there was a similar list in an old HeroQuest Wiki site (not the actual one) which was really complete and listing every character, artifact, location, spell and everything else featuring a description and where they appear or were named. Could not find that site anymore or maybe it was on dismissed forum.
I like the idea to list only the special ones, it can be inspiring when creating new miniatures too!
