Solo quests

Postby Draven » April 4th, 2011, 12:08 pm

Our group has just started the Mage in the Mirror quests. I know the first 3 quests are meant as solo quests for the Elf, but I adapted the monsters and storyline slightly so that all four heroes could play them, but still trying to keep the Elf's importance intact. Would just like to know how other players have played these.

There wasnt anything really special to my quests. I only added more monsters and added a few secret doors to open up more rooms. The story and ideas all remain intact except change 'Elf' to 'Elf and companions'. I kept it that any special item or chest to be opened or found could only be done so by the Elf. We just didnt want to have other characters waiting for 3 quests. My quest is written in pencil on square graph paper, so not really suitable to upload.

Hey Draven, we're 10 missions far from our first attempt to a north-american HeroQuest expansion set and we've had the same thought about converting solo quests so that they can be played by the full group.
Your converted quests would be pretty useful to me, could you please think about uploading 'em somewhere? Also, I'd make them as HeroScribe .xmls and have them downloadable on my website for everyone's use.
The same goes for the Frozen Horror solo quests.
Let me know what you think, thanks!
Cheers

I had a quick look at the Mage pack, the first quest notes, A, say both trap doors are linked by a tunnel, but I can only find one A. Am I missing something? What is ALC?. Note D no chest in this room, does it refer to the chest in room C?

Ah Ha, sussed it! Need to match up the page numbers, silly me.

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone is thinking about adapting the first 3 quests from The Frozen Horror and The Mage Of The Mirror so that they can be played by the full group of Heroes.
Our group's approaching them and we'd like to play them all together.
Thanks for your time!
Cheers

The FH quests, you could probably leave as-is. The MM ones will likely need some tougher monsters added. Personally, I would simply begin playing them as-is, and if the Heroes progress through the first few rooms with relative ease, throw in some Chaos Warriors and one or two of the new monsters into some of the remaining areas.

drathe has the right aproach

I taylor every quest to my players skills and heroes power level. It is pretty easy to get an idea of how much they can handle by the second or third room.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.
