Hypnotic Blaze is a spell that messes with the mind of the victim(s), it's not a real flame. Since Undead lack any form of mind, I'd say they aren't affected by the spell. Of course, this doesn't apply to Undead with mind power, like the Witch Lord and similar.

The spell specifically states it affects based on mind points. If the monster has mind points, it gets to roll. I'm not sure where this idea that undead don't have minds came from. That is too creative. The card would specifically state something like it doesn't affect undead like sleep does.
Other fantasy games let you play undead and none of the ones I've played have special rules for mind points on undead.

I'm not saying the undead don't have minds (unless they actually scraped it out of the Mummy's head like in ancient Egypt), something up there still gives them motor function, whatever minds they do have are much more primal and don't work the same way all other monsters minds would work; they don't sleep and they probably don't even eat the way traditional zombies do, but whatever magic has reanimated them, they're clearly in no position to think for themselves.

If they don't sleep they probably can't be hypnotized. As stated in other Forums, the Barbarian and Elf quest packs were never playtested, so it's possible the game makers didn't have undead in mind when they made that spell.

Yes, as written you are correct, it does affect the undead. I just don't think it should, and house rule accordingly.

How does everybody else play Hypnotic Blaze?

Suppose the Elf runs into a room full of monsters and casts this spells and we'll say 3 out of 5 monsters in the room get hypnotized... if the Barbarian enters the room on his next turn, would he need to roll to see if he's hypnotized too? I'd imagine this Fire blaze burns for 3 turns, keeping the monsters hypnotized... so if someone enters the room while it's burning shouldn't they have to roll too?

I play it as an instantaneous effect. I can see your logic, but it would really kill the whole benefit of the spell for the Heroes.

I think no.. the flame will burn instantly causing a shock to the figures in the room that will last for 3 turns. But when a nother hero will enter in the same room he should not be affected.
so is the shock that lasts 3 turns, not the flame.

Well one can make that part of the argument. As Hypnotic Blaze is much too powerful. Every other spell we have either effects 1 hero or 1 monster. This one can effect a whole room. So I think that was part of the idea behind this spell: no one is safe. It wouldn't effect the Elf because he's casting it, and the Wizard is exempt as long as he has 6MP, which makes the spell potentially dangerous for the Barbarian, Dwarf and all monsters. But I understand if people choose to play it to its maximum benefit.

On a separate note, I've been wondering on mix effect of Time Stop and Flashback: suppose the Elf casts Time Stop on Barbarian, who may now take 2 turns. Suppose the Barbarian whiffs on both attacks. If the Elf were to play Flashback, would the Barbarian get to replay both turns or just 1?

I'm tempted to say he replays both but I should actually study the cards again...

About Hypnotic Blaze: WHEN the 3 missed turns should start for the monsters?
Do they start on their turn (Zargon's turn) or from the moment the Elf casts the spell (Elf's turn)?
With the first option, when the Elf casts the spell the next hero can enter the room and attack the monster but the monster can still defend.
With the second option, when the Elf casts the spell the next Hero may enter and attack an already blocked monster who can't defend.
