Spell wording.
RAW, it can only target the caster.

There are no casting instructions. It only tells the recipient of the spell how it works. Wizard casts it on the Barbarian, who then reads how it works.

All the spells in WoM are worded like that. :? Makes me wonder if you're supposed to be able to cast them on other targets.

Edit:
You beat me to it. I think you might be right. So many ambiguities with HQ.

The WoM Wizard spells are appallingly written and are not at all specific. As the EW, I claim the right to interpret them. They are a pretty useless set if they are all restricted to the Wizard. He is meant to be helping the group with his spells. The ones I allow him to cast on others are Future Sight, Invisibility and Treasure Horde.

After a few days of thought I think the spell must be re-written and redesigned or completely discarded.

Many of the WoM spells are poorly conceived, but this one especially.

If thrown away, I would replace with a damage dealing spell of some form. Never can have too many damage dealing spells on hand.

If reworded...
hmmm

The spell caster pulls the first 3 treasures from the treasure deck ignoring all hazard cards and drawing again until three treasures are discovered. The hazard cards are shuffled back into the deck.

Or...
After Casting this spell the caster will know the general direction of the largest treasure in the dungeon and the EWP will tell the player once per turn on the players turn what direction the treasure is. A smart player will be able to triangulate the approximate location in 2 or 3 turns. But the way some dungeons are laid out it won't be much help is some places.
Now this would have to be worked into the game by the EWP before hand I figure, with a predetermined treasure.

But I really think it should just be discarded in favor of some other spell.

It could be like a treasure without doom scroll?

"This spell may be cast on any one Hero, including yourself. The next time that Hero searches for treasure, he may pick cards from the treasure deck, ignoring all Wandering Monster and Hazard cards, until he picks a card showing gold, a potion, gems, or jewels. Or the hero may open one chest without harm, disarming any trap on the chest."

I recall GoldBearer mooting "draw 3, resolve 2, reshuffle all Hazards".

Since there is already a Treasure Without Doom spell scroll, you could just rename and rewrite Treasure Horde to be the actual Treasure Without Doom spell, as The Admiral suggested since all other spell scrolls have a corresponding spell.

opse, posted that without responding!

THis is a valid option, I chose to mod the Horde, and use the TWD elsewhere...
