Yes, he could summon orc or goblin SPIRITS!! A way to use them cool models from POT and SQT!!!
This is why I love this site, someone mentions something, and it sparks an idea for yourself!!

And that idea with the Witch Lord popping in to raise some dead, then disappearing!! That's a sublime idea!!
He really is underused as a villain. The first time he appears in ROWL, he just curses and does a runner!!

Someone suggested it elsewhere, but changing Halls of the Dead to a rescue/escape quest.
Like you said, kinda bogus that the Witch Lord flees once the Dwarf and Wizard break up the executions. Perhaps the objective should be to free the Barbarian and Elf and find the exit. Leave the Witch Lord there to cast spells, trying to hinder the heroes escape.

Essentially after the heroes capture he should have confiscated the Spirit Blade, leave it as a quest treasure for a later quest (probably the weapons rack in Last Gate). But if one of the heroes use a fire spell, magical throwing dagger or Holy Water on the Witch Lord, only then will he disappear. Maybe in another room you can store the heroes equipment, since this is an escape scenario they probably won't be able to access the chest in the central chamber. If, by chance, they do, put their lost gold in that chest.

I always though that. The Witch Lord is vulnerable to the Spirit Blade, so where does he leave it?
Somewhere easily accessible by the Heros!!!!

He leaves it guarded by the Doom guard. Hero accessibility isn't even a question as he has them captured when he entrusts it to DoomGuard. He's planning to kill the heroes in Halls of the Dead, so leaving it closer to the inner sanctum is the safest place for it.

Ah yes I suppose so.
But if it was me, I would have sent it far away from me and the Heros if it's the only thing that can harm me, and there are 4 Heros in the same building!!
It's like, I have this one thing that can kill me so what do I do?
Keep it with me so I am in control of it and it's security, but then someone can take it and kill me straight away, or
Send it to another location under guard so if it IS taken, at least I know it and can prepare for them coming???

Great stuff guys! Thanks for all the input! I can def see trying out some of these suggestions.

I am also trying to introduce the wizard to elementals in this expansion so I've got a lot to cram in lol. Thankfully, there are a lot of empty rooms for me to play with. I tried some "brick wall moves after defeating certain monsters to reveal more of the board" type stuff in KK and I think it is much better suited to ROTWL' theme. Old dark house vibes you know lol?

I think I may add Skulmar and Kesandria to the mix as well. Maybe every even numbered quest will have one of them pop up somehow. Either to shoot a walloping attack or to summon some serious heavy hitters.

The new Ogre Commander kind of looks like a shaman too what with all his bones. I am thinking of making him an undead ogre road block. Like he follows you around passageways always staying in the back taking shots. Not into rooms though. Again just starting to formulate this idea

Oh and I am definitely adding the skeleton archers to ROTWL. This is pretty much a no brainer.

I think I'll sometimes have WL pop in, summon the three archers and pop out. Just to keep them on their toes lol
