Arm Band of Healing, Clarification/Reassurance Needed

Postby Jalapenotrellis » June 23rd, 2021, 5:16 pm

My players asked if they could use the band to heal others. I assume it can be used like a potion (anytime) on oneself, but I honestly don't see any issue with them using it to heal someone else on their turn. I think I have an issue with them using it to heal someone else by line of sight NOT on their turn--that seems to be adding too much to it.

My initial read of the artifact was that it just heals the wearer 2 bp per quest like a potion and that it could not be used to help others. I'm leaning toward this conservative read of the artifact, honestly, but if enough of you decided it was good to allow it to heal others, let me know and why.

In theory, you could pass it (on your turn) to an adjacent Hero, who could then use it. In theory you could do it so that every Hero got to use it. But I think the intention behind the Artifact is that it gets USED once per quest. So if you haven't used it yet, you could pass it to someone who could use it, but then that's it. It needs the rest of the quest to "recharge" before it would be usable again.

But only the wearer gets to use it, on themselves for the healing.

I use it exactly as Kurgan explained.
It activates once per quest and heals the wearer only.

Yeah, i agree with Kurgan. Once per quest, but not once per quest per hero.

I would allow one hero to give it to another hero and allow them to heal themselves, but that's part of the group adventure, not every player will willingly give their artifacts away.

I ruled it the same as you guys, but one of my players says that's not what the text says, and on second thought, I kinda agree with him based on the card itself. But, if you have the actual Return of the Witch Lord manual, it clarifies that you guys are playing it as intended. It's supposed to be for the wearer only.
