Ye Olde Inn

A few months ago I was trying to recall a forum discussion about certain special rules, so I tried to find it by browsing the subforums. Was it in Ye Olde Pub, General Heroquest Discussion, Official Rules, Game Systems, Keller's Keep, one of the four Adventurer's Guild forums, one of the nine Heroquest Additions forums, or the Project Forge? A text search brought up much more stuff that was similar but not it. Eventually I found it by just going through a list of threads I had posted in.

This site is so fractured into subsections that it is impossible to find anything that isn't very specifically about a single topic on a single release, and threads have the tendency to not be about that after only a few posts. It's so overwhelming for new members, no wonder people don't stick around for very long. Some of the subforums have only a handful of threads, which is still more than the number of threads made for each particular new release. This places needs serious consolidation.

As far as I can see, that is still something that can only be done by an admin.

True but I think there are others that are worthy to create sub-forums, so perhaps the first part of my earlier suggestion could be considered / discussed / catered for?

Only administrators can create new forum rooms, and drathe is the only one to have ever done this. Until he deigns to get involved on such an endeavor, we must make do with the forums that already exist.

I agree with Oftkilted in that we should have new Sub Forums under the "HeroQuest Rooms -> Official HeroQuest Releases" for new sequels/prequels like Prophecy of Telor, The Spirit Queen's Torment, Crypt of Perpetual Darkness and so on as they are new official Quest releases (although we might need to add Avalon Hill as well as MB in the text)

I wouldn't agree with splitting out the HQ2021 remake of the game system, KK, RotWL and so on, if we were going to introduce a "version" split, for me the biggest difference has always been and remains between the original HeroQuest 1989-1993 (published initially in English_British and later translated into multiple languages) and the 1990 Remake (published initially in English_US, translated into Portuguese and then after a brief 30 year hiatus a second edition translated into multiple languages)

Other than the new content (Mythic content, SQT, PoT, RoTDM, Rogue, Knight, Monk), there's very little to talk about since it's so similar to the NA edition. True, we speculate there are differences with the remake of ATOH coming out next year. But the big threads seem to cover the main topics (the aforementioned sets, the Haslab campaign, the minute differences in the Retail version from the vintage 1990 NA edition and 1991-1992 expansions).

I still think that the Hasbro HQ remake needs its own sections of the forum as opposed to the original HQ, as it is getting fairly huge with all the expansions and it would be nice to be clear on which version is being discussed in any particular thread. Why hasn't this happened by now?

I think, maybe, we need to wait and see how different this rerelease will be from the original before doing so, because if the similarities are too strong we'll just start getting the same questions that were asked before, so there may not even be a need.

Separate discussion areas for the re-released core game, the updated RotWL and KK doesn’t make sense. These are official releases.

However, we should have new “sub boards” to discuss the new official Quest releases.

can we get a new sixth section added to the HeroQuest Rooms for the New HeroQuest Hasbro reboot and move all of the related posts to it? I think the new game is important enough to merit it's own seperate discussion area instead of just in the general HeroQuest discussion
