I am considering making a netherworld dungeon for slain heroes to escape and thereby revive themselves in my campaign and nudging it to the Morcar player. That way there's an opportunity to bring your character back without just giving it away.

Not until AtOH and WoM though. Maybe beating Kellars Keep and Return of the Witchlord could earn characters the title of Eternal Champion and grants them a legendary status that affords an opportunity to revive themselves if slain.

Make sure it is not too easy so that it really is just a chance and not a giveaway. Hr hr hr.

That's definitely the tricky part, making it not so easy. Maybe the idea should be that after any given quest the surviving hero(es) delve after the deceased hero(es). This way the more heroes survive, the greater their odds of reviving a lone straggler, vice 1-2 heroes trying to recover 2-3 heroes from the far-side.

God forbid, 1 hero is trying to revive 3.

A similar idea was tried and discussed by bruenor in these posts.

Well damn.... Ever come close? Is it as broken as I keep hearing? I last played it 20ish years ago and looking back, with enough men at arms, it should be doable. Maybe.

Sadly no...

That's not a bad idea either. Maybe award them the first revive upon the starting of AtOH, then if it's used the Hero must beat 3-5 quests to regain it.

Have you beaten WoM as the heroes yet?

Holy Cross! There we go :)

An idea could be that when completing X (5?) quests you earn a revive.
You can't earn more than one revive at a time. Once you die you need to survive another 5 quests to earn a new revive.

Yup, same avatar (Prince Medion from Shining Force). Username Holy Cross on there. It's been awhile since I posted there though.

I agree wholeheartedly with the achievement part too. I am considering making a netherworld dungeon for slain heroes to escape and thereby revive themselves in my campaign and nudging it to the Morcar player. That way there's an opportunity to bring your character back without just giving it away.

hah! I did wonder if I knew you from SDE! You use the same avatar, right?

It's also about the achievement. Taking a hero from the humble beginnings of the Trial to slaying the greatest lords of evil.
Sure, you as a player could brute force a corpse run through the quests, but without that original hero it's not quiiiiiite the same ;)

Thanks Goblin King!

I remember you from the Super Dungeon Explore forums.

Yeah it's definitely hard losing a character. Not just the equipment and relics, but the emotional investment if you're the type to get attached to your character (I know I am).

We'll see how it goes this time. I've started an elf character who is still in The Gathering Storm quests.
