Hi and welcome to the Inn!

I'm more of a coop boardgamer. Started with HQ, but also love Mice & Mystics, Zombicide, and recently looked into Descent 2nd ed.

Your grognardiness should be very satisfied with 5th edition. Although I have yet to play it myself, everything I have seen and read about it has been positive. But more importantly, it feels like 1st/2nd edition but with more modern sensibilities.

My group has been sporadically playing some 1st ed D&D after tiring of 3.5, but we're talking about trying some 5th ed. D&D. Some superhero stuff was tried, but grognards like me keep wanting the familiar.

Welcome back to this awesome game. And yes to your question. I prefer my RPGs to be slightly more simulationist than narrativist or storytelling, but having a bit of the latter makes for better immersiveness in the former I've found. :D
