Whenever i read about folks on here playing HQ with their kids, i always think; top rate parenting fella
- you're keeping them away from the pc/tv/tablet/smarphone screens with some quality dad time
When i had the time to DM games (in the not so distant past <.<) it was great to bring a little more narrative and RP elements to the game. Which your little'uns may find fun. Some ideas for you maybe:
When they find a "potion" in game. Prepare some small cool looking glass vials (i use these:

http://www.candywarehouse.com/assets/it ... 6663-w.jpg) Because hey, potions dont always have to taste nice right?
And when they want to take the potion in game, they have to drink the vial
(i tend to use other things like neat whiskey into our games, since its 18+
)
Or did they find up holy water? Have a vial for that too (

Use real metal coins to keep track of gold!

Also i usually buy a bottle of mead and dish that out in silver goblets also, you could do the same with juice?
And of course replace the cardboard furniture with some more detailed 3d scenery
Perhaps i take this geeky gaming to a whole new level of awesome/eccentricity (delete as appropriate to your opinion) now if only i could get someone to make a wizards hat like this
