Please find a draft that was crossing my mind:
"THE" Minotaur.
trapped in a labyrinth.

This posting is best viewed if you have installed the fonts HQModern, Gaze and Heroquest.

After checking the storyline discussion, I just renamed it Q13 as it seems fit. The Chaos story arc is having three concepts that I like and would like to bring into life.

Goblin King, I don't want to take anything away. If you like we could work on it together. It just looks to me as if you have abandoned this so if you are ok I take this up, supporting you by writing two or three quests.

Back to the Minotaur. The Heroe's task is to get him on the bridge and blow the bridge up, so that he drops into the lava. It means that Morcar is not free to move the Minotaur as he likes.

This is the first draft of this quest, so I am sure there will be the one or the other problem. Please don't hesitate to give comments.

I made this version of the map, for Heroes with 3-Dice Equipment.
For a 4-Dice-Group, it will be a walk in the park.

The invincible Minotaur
The only hope to destroy the invincible Minotaur is to throw him into the chasm of Lava that separates his labyrinth from our world. Recently, Chaos Warriors have been seen nearby. We must hurry! Go, find the beast, lure it to the bridge it into the chasm of fire, for we cannot allow that it joins Morcar‘s forces!


Notes
A: Each time a figure (hero or monster) enters a trap door, it appears on one of the other trap doors randomly. If the spot is already taken, move the occupying figure one square. Those tunnels are not dangerous. Using them cost no BP.
B: When a figure (hero or monster) steps on one of the teleport traps (A or B), it appears on one of the other "b" teleport traps randomly. If the spot is already taken, exlude it from the roll. If all exits are occupied, the teleport doesn’t work. This ends the figure’s turn.
C: The treasure chest contains 232 Gold Coins and a Potion of Healing (6BP).
D: The first Hero who searches for treasure will find a spell scroll of Pass Through Rock.
E: The Alchemist’s table contains a potion of healing (2BP)
F: Any figure falling in the chasm is dead and removed from play with all equipment.
G: This falling block traps are triggered when a figure steps on the field marked "G"

The Minotaur:
Mv 6; AT 5; DE: invulnerable; BP: 4, MP: 1
Special rules:
Minotaur rules. Plus:
The Minotaur always goes after the closest hero. If at any hero with the red cape comes into his view, he runs for the red cape instead.

Goblin with Bow:
Those goblins are normal goblins, except that they can attack anyone in line of sight.

Wandering Monster: Beastman

The quest was calculated with the Beastman as follows:
Mv:7 At:3 De:2 BP:2 MP:2

If the Heroes accidentally have no Powder Keg and no red cape; they can play this quest.

I made a fresh card for the explosive; just to make sure it is maximum compatible.
It also removes a remark from the Quest Notes, relaxing the space constraint a little bit.
I made both layout, the EU layout and the boring layout.

I dig this! A good use of one of the giant Zealot Minotaurs.

I haven't really gotten into it to look for nitpicks, but on first readthrough, it seems cool.

Woah this reads like a hard quest to survive. I like it. I'm guessing the Magician specialised in the arts of Pyromania.

How about the cunning magician died luring the beast to the chasm, only succeeding in trapping it in the labyrinth (not sure how to word that). If this is how it could be destroyed, it would make no sense that the magician didn't do that already, especially as the chasm is in the same place.

What's with the random Goblin with a black bow down the bottom left?

Edit: Something like
"Joraoo, A cunning Magician, the master of Pyro was last know leading the beast to the fiery chasm of (insert random creative name here... lol!) Jibelia. We fear he has failed only succeeding to trap it in the labyrinth. Recently, Chaos Warriors have been seen to enter the labyrinth. We must hurry! for we cannot allow that it joins Morcar's forces"

I wouldn't use Labyrinth twice, so close, it's just a quick example. Possibly using something along the lines of, finishing of what he started or where he failed.

There's another one on the far left wall. I imagine just goblin archers of some variety.

I corrected that I had two different symbol for goblin archers.

I added a remark that goblin archers are just goblins that can deal their attack in line of sight.

I am not sure how I can update the fluff text. It is already too long.
What about this?

The invincible Minotaur
It is said that once there was a Minotaur, so strong that no one could fight and win against it. Many a good man lost their life trying to destroy the Beast in vain, for no weapon can harm the monster. A cunning magician finally trapped the beast in a magical labyrinth, losing his life in the course.
Recently, Chaos Warriors have been seen nearby. We must hurry! Go and throw the beast in the chasm of fire, for we cannot allow that it joins Morcar‘s forces!



The fireworks... I had no other idea. What could possibly attract the Minotaur?
I added the Wandering Monster: Beastman

I wasn't sure about the firework idea at first, but I'm really "warming" to the idea now. Looks like a really unique and challenging quest.
I just think you could do with a marker to show where the firework had been lit.

Fireworks make sense to me. At first glance i was thinking, wouldn't the EW simply not move the Minotaur on to the bridge... Then i read about the fireworks. Yeap! That'l work!!!

For the fluff, it could even be shorter but still featuring all the info. Another alternative would be not not mention throwing the beast in the chasm. The Heroes figure that out for themselves. Discovering the room would be the eureka moment after many turns of wondering how they'd kill this thing. Just some mention of attempts to bury him in the fiery depths of...

I was fine tuning the texts a little bit, shortening them a bit. I layouted it to one page and it fits, just.... so.

I also altered the quest layout just a little bit for readability.

I made a version for a hero group with 3 dice equipment:
I just read the discussion about the HQ25 story arc and found out that there will probably a new hero group started along with the quest pack, so optimizing this for a four-dice-group might be the wrong way?

The Explosive was adapted so that it fits the standard Hero Quest;
and the Fireworks are added.

Next thing I need is a quest where the Heroes find the Explosive and 4 Firework cards. :redheart:

I just found out that I use one door too many.
So for this quest, we need one door, two double doors, three trap doors and the lava tile in addition to the game system.

Looks like an awesome use for the minotaur :D I want to play it where the wizard tries to stall the mino in the middle of the bridge.
