Help with a price

Postby Beaumains » May 11th, 2018, 10:52 am

So. Through a series of very odd events I have been gifted a set of unreleased models from the 25th anniversary game (yes, that game ... don't hurt me!).
Ahem, anyway. I have no idea what they're worth or even how to figure out a price.
I have;
Female elf with two swords
Female dwarf with hammer and shield
Female mage with dagger and staff
Female Barbarian (ninja maybe?) with twin thingamajigs
chaos warrior x4
Orc with paired weapon x3
Orc w Xbow x2
Orc w sword and board x2
Orc missing bits x1
Goblin w spear and shield x4
Goblin w bow x1
I know that some of the heroes were briefly available in metal online but they seem to have vanished again.

i'm more interested in the "series of odd events" than those miniatures.

I'm interested in the events, as well...but, also, why are you seeking a price? Selling them?
I would think you'd want to hold onto those suckers.

Almost impossible to say. What would someone pay for a mini from the unreleased Wizard or Dwarf packs. Alot I would wager. And that is the issue. If this game is released and there are identical figures in that game, then not very much. If the game is released, but these figures are either not in it, or vary from the released figures, then quite alot. If the game is never released and these can be verified as pre-production models for that game, then more again?

I wouldn't pay alot of money for figures I may be able to get cheeply with the game. I would hang on to them for a while longer and hope it never gets produced.

As I recall that whole project went under and MANY MANY people lost what they paid for the game and recieved nothing.

If you are truly looking for a "good home" for them, then maybe you can find the list of backers and send one of them a nice surprise. How can you in good concience profit from this?

Whitebeard - kind of harsh, man.

Granted - a lot of people lost big on that deal, but unless beaumains was part of that problem,
I wouldn't hold it against him/her for selling the minis. Even me...I don't know if I would simply
give them away if I happened to get my hands on some. Finding the people who lost money
backing the project and selling the minis for a reasonable price might be fair to ask - I don't
think anyone here could "expect" it or demand it of anyone, though.

Now - all of that said - I do see a little suspicion in the fact that beaumains just joined today,
and this is the very first and only post. Not pointing fingers or anything...but let's be fair about
the facts. If my suspicion is undeserved, I am truly sorry. A lot of us here at the inn have very
strong feelings about that whole 25th anniversary thing, and for various minis and the sale
prices and counterfeits and all that sort of thing.

The world is harsh and I offer no appologies. He came here looking for a price, I gave him one. They are basically stolen goods. If you find something on the street and you know who it might belong to, what would you do?

If he wants to do the right thing, he could very quickly find someone on Ye Olde Inn who invested in HQ25 and give them some small restitution. That would make me as the finder and sender feel prety good.

Even if they were shipped to his buddy as a backer before the bankrupcy... there are tons of people out there who got nothing. This guy wants to make a car payment with some OOP plastic figures... when have we ever supported that?

Be that as it may - while Kickstarter and other crowdfunding sites do their best to ensure
people do not lose money, it happens. The 25th anniversary thing was only a couple of years
ago, and if you look at Facebook or Twitter, you'll see that kickstarter has had more and
more projects that end in the same way - people fund it, something goes wrong, and
people get nothing out of it. It is almost as if there should be that old saying attached,
"buyer beware". People have become quite disillusioned with kickstarter, and yes,
that is a bad thing, but is has happened.

Saying the minis are stolen goods, though, is very harsh, yes...unless someone has proof
that the OP had some part in the failed kickstarter. There has been no explanation about
how he or she got them.

All I'm trying to point out is that we shouldn't go around accusing people of selling "stolen
goods" without reason. Ye Olde Inn is better than that. Wouldn't you agree?
