I agree very much with kk. I suggest including both Beastmen and Chaos Dwarfs. Make them strong attackers and defenders respectively..

Agree. Beasrmen and kobolds as attackers and fodder.

If you go look for any chaos dwarf/Abyssal Dwarf figures from any manufacturer you'll see my point. These are not slayers with crazy hairdos, but mechanically advanced industrials with hammers and rune engraved armor walking over lava. Their hobgoblins and black orc slaves are attackers/cannonfodder, not the dwarfs themselves.
They are bureaocrats and weaponsmiths. They wear armor and lots of it.

I don't get the stats that maintain more attack than defend dice for them.
I say, Defense for Chaos Dwarfs.
Well I think they should be slow at least.

Well, I added up most of the suggestions here (except a few that I think were posted in jest, and except any real dragons), and put them into an excel sheet.
Then I took the average (I took my own thoughts on stats into account as I hadn't posted those yet), and put the most popular picks in the bottom list. I hope everyone can agree on these choices.
We can still discuss certain abilities, spells and skills.
And as KK mentioned, in any quest, the quest notes could possibly have some monster have a slight difference, such as giving beastmen bows or spears for ranged or diagonal attacks. Things like that. As long as it doesn't deviate too much from the proposed stats here.

If we can all agree with these choices, we can start plotting out the plot :P
Having a clear view of the monsters and their stats will help in defining the story and quests. Once we have the storyline set, we can finally start cracking on the actual quest maps! woohoo!

The minotaur has the same AD/DD stats as a chaos warrior. Up each to 5.
there's not gonna be many minotaurs anywhere, they should be hard monsters, similar to ogres, who are absent mostly..

Your "definite" list at the bottom of your chart reads like 95% of my "best case scenario". Outstanding work :)

Two issues left:

1. exchange AD and DD for the Kobold from 2/1 to 1/2, else these buggers are just (barely) modified Goblins. With 2 defend the Evil Wizard player can try out more tactics, especially with diagonal and ranged attacks. I strrrongly advise that.

2. this might seem minor, but lower the beastman defend to 2 instead of 3. Why? To really make them aggressive all the way. Also, I'm thinking ahead. A personal Bestigor guard of whoever can have 1 more defend die to be noted in the quest notes; to go the other way, an Ungor would have just one attack, but can attack any figure he "sees", keeping one stat change to be noted in the quest notes.

The goal should be to keep attack and defend stats of the main monsters within a quest fairly different from one another.
The changes I'm proposing here make it so a quest with the three main monsters Beastman, Chaos Dwarf and Chaos Warrior has three very very different monsters (with three strategies for the EWP, importantly). One hits hard (and has to, because of the low DD), one guards sturdily (I would give the Chaos Dwarf even 5 Defend, but that's not quite as important and I can go with the majority here), and one gives you anything you could want.

Otherwise, It think we're pretty close to finishing this off..

1. I actually wanted to do that, but must have forgotten. I also wanted them to be "reverse AD/DD" goblins. Will change.
2. I like the idea. Will change.

But now I'm off to bed ;)
