As mentioned in Always Board Never Boring's completely spoilerific quest video, Skulmar's name is misspelled as "Skullmar" in the questbook (but not in prequel quest "Knightfall").

Thanks. Yes, there are already appearing some errata in the new released expansion.
Kurgan wrote:You could consider them variations but they renamed the Potion of Speed from the Mage of the Mirror (which is different than the Game System armory Equipment card) in the Alchemist Deck to "Potion of Celerity." Not an errata but they changed names before to help differentiate two objects in different packs with the same name before (Potion of Restoration/Superior Restoration).

Yeah I think we may include a cross-check of names in the errata list to track it and avoid future confusions. Similar feeling with the gold price of Potion of Restoration which has been reduced to 300 gold coins, instead of 500 gold coins from KK or ROTWL. The name of Potion of Healing from PoT has been also renamed to Potion of Lesser Healing, surely to make it different from the regular Potion of Healing included in the GS Treasure deck.

Here a couple of two new minor errata I have been already detected in the questbook:

- Page 21, Note B: There is only one door in the room, not several rdoors, so "doors" should not be plural.
- Page 21, Note F: typo "hands of the Heroes".

And about Ogre Grog Alchemy card... it seems there is something missing in the text. Who would pay gold for this kind of potion which does not give any benefit?? Maybe its effects were intended to be active during a full turn of the Hero? or until it the Hero is damaged? I think here there is text missing.

In the other hand I have already found some translation mistakes in the cards from Spanish version of RotDM, which are the following ones, some of them affecting a bit the rules of the card:

Artifacts cards deck:

- Garra de Cuervo (Raven's Talon): The card text "... podrás volver a tirar 1 Dado de Ataque en el que haya salido un Escudo Negro..." is not correctly translated according to original English text. It should had been translated as "podrás volver a tirar cualquier Dado de Ataque en el que haya salido un Escudo Negro...".

Dread Spells cards deck:

- Canaliza el Terror (Channel Dread): The card text "... que haya junto al lanzador..." is not correctly translated according to original English text. It should had been translated as "que haya adyacente al lanzador...". Otherwise it could be interpreted that also applies with monsters placed in diagonal squares.

Alchemy cards deck:

- Poción de Restauración (Potion of Superior Restoration): The card title "Poción de Restauración" is not correctly translated according to original English text. Card title should had been translated as "Poción de Restauración Superior". This is a 'funny' detail because they have repeated the same translation mistake made in MoM Spanish version for this potion. Moreover, this new Spanish card has the correct illustration but it had not in MoM one (like now happens in the RotDM English card). No idea why they make these mistakes...

- Poción de Restablecimiento (Potion of Restoration): The card title "Poción de Restablecimiento" is not correctly translated according to original English text. Card title should had been translated as "Poción de Restauración". Again, here is another breaking and 'funny' design decision for the Spanish version, because KK and ROTWL potions of same type were correctly translated to Spanish.

- Poción de Combate (Potion of Battle): The card title "Poción de Combate" is not correctly translated according to original English text. Card title should had been translated as "Poción de Batalla". Spanish versions of KK and ROTWL correctly translated to Spanish the title of this potion.

- Poción de Furia de Combate (Potion of Battle Rage): The card title "Poción de Furia de Combate" is not correctly translated according to original English text. Card title should had been translated as "Poción de Furia de Batalla". Spanish version of FH correctly translated to Spanish the title of this potion.

- Celeridad (Potion of Celerity): The card title "Celeridad" is incomplete according to original English text. Card title should had been translated as "Poción de Celeridad".

Equipment cards deck:

- Hacha Enana (Handaxe): The card title "Hacha Enana" is not correctly translated according to original English text since it could make a context confusion by linking the Spanish handaxe term with the Dwarves race, which is not done in the original English version. Card title should had been translated as "Hacha de mano". (Same traslation mistake as seen in Handaxe card from Spanish Game System box)

Another minor mistake in RotDM questbook, page 39: text incorrectly says "Alchemist's Bench" instead of "Sorcerer's Table" next to its icon.

Knight Fall online quest I also think has a minor mistake in the map: The statue icon representing the Gargoyle statue IO think should be coloured in light blue colour since it is an undetectable trap, however it is not.

Good evening.

I believe that the copy of the game I own is a later "slim box" version. Is it known whether this version has differences in rules text in cards/booklets etc. compared to the earlier releases? A comprehensible list, even?

Right now I'm actually looking a Youtube video from the GenCon and seems like they are still adding more clarifications to things such as equipment (there seems to be new cards for the Helmet (confirmed that it is indeed metal) and Hand Axe (bringing back the text that it cannot be used by the Wizard).

Equipment Card Helmet says "metal" in the 2022 version, while 2021 version does not.
Equipment Card HandAxe says "may not be used by the Wizard" in 2022 version, while 2021 version lacks this text.

This is identical to how these cards appear in "Rise of the Dread Moon" expansion.

Though it isn't being released until Jan 15, 2024, for the Path of the Wandering Monk, according to the pictures of the physical cards AND the digital versions:

There's an asterisk next to the "1" in the attack stat for the male Monk, but the female monk does not. This lead to some wondering if maybe they meant to give the male Monk a dagger (or a shortsword but that's 2 dice) and the female Monk a staff (as depicting in the plastic minis) and they have to switch to unarmed to get the bonus (and attack with 2 dice adjacent). But it seems that they just intended both to be truly unarmed until they gain weapons and thus always use 2 attack dice until they switch to a weapon.

I see! Seems like I was already half asleep :D and this was old news. Thank you.

The Monk thing seems to be a typo though, because the female Monk card still has the small text *When attacking unarmed..., and the asterisk probably should be referring to somewhere specifically.

It's okay. The surest way to know which version you have is to look at the "Avalon Hill" logo symbol on the front of the box in the lower right corner. If it is the red and yellow "flag" version that is the one that adorns the 1st retail version (which is the same as the Haslab crowd funded version in the Heroic and Mythic tiers) while the white "Iceberg" style logo is for the newer ones and is on the 2022 revision.

Yeah I think we can guess their intention with the Monk now but it is probably a typo.

You might also point out that the Knight character in Rise of the Dread Moon does not come with any Equipment cards for his Shortsword and Shield like in the Hero Collection version, but everybody should know you can just refer to those cards in the Game System box since they are identical in price & function (and cards don't limit Armory stock).

Re: Hero Quest 2021 Remake: Errata Compilation

Postby HispaZargon » October 3rd, 2023, 6:31 pm

I have found another errata in Spanish version of RotDM's questbook, which is the following one:

Libro de Misiones (Questbook):

- Página 4, apartado "Mesa de Hechicero": De acuerdo al texto original en inglés, donde pone "... puede restaurar 1 Punto Corporal perdido y 1 Punto Mental perdido si busca en una Habitación que contenga una Mesa de Hechicero ..." debería en realidad poner "... puede restaurar 1 Punto Corporal perdido y 1 Punto Mental perdido si busca Tesoros en una Habitación que contenga una Mesa de Hechicero ..."

Additionally, member Eudoxio has also found another minor mistake, in translation to Spanish, in a card of same expansion:

Cartas de Alquimia (Alchemy cards):

- Poción de Curación (Potion of Healing): De acuerdo al texto original en inglés, donde pone "... que emite un leve resplandor y cuyo sabor evoca..." debería poner "... que emite un brillante resplandor y cuyo sabor evoca...". Parece que la palabra "leve" fue heredada por error del texto de la carta "Poción de Curación Menor".

Edited: I have updated the errata summary here according to the data written on this post and all previous ones.

Spies have informed me about the questbook reference numbers of retail boxes of Prophecy of Telor and Spirit Queens Torment, which are the following ones:

- POT's questbook retail reference number is G0052.
- SQT's questbook retail reference number is G0053.

Both questbooks had reference number F3649 in their Mythic Tier box versions. This could mean they have corrected the erratas in those new versions? Hopefully yes, or maybe ther reference number change has just a production process explanation.

I didn't see it on the first page but the Mage of the Mirror quest book I got from Hasbro's official site on the last page where the monsters are listed does not say the wolves can attack diagonally. I know that's a rule that all double based characters have, so I'm not sure if this is an actual error.

I would think that since the page was meant to be used as a quick reference guide, it should state the above on there.
