Q12/Q13 - Witch Lord & Spirit Blade

Im so very confused about how is it gonna work out with that guy.
It's the first "serious" group I'm running as a DM so forgive me if I don't understand something.
I tend to prepare the quests beforehand cause I like to add things to make it more interesting for the players (riddles, puzzles, random weird events).
So while I was reading Q12 I realized they dont have Spirit Blade, then I saw they get in Q13.
However Witch Lord gets out of his grave as soon as they walk in the room and he cant die without Spirit Blade.
What are they supposed to do? Just die from WL ?
Seems like a plot whole to me but I'm sure that it's just me and there is a logical explaination, right guys? xD
Explain please what's the deal with WL and Spirit Blade.
PS: I'd appreaciate some suggestions to "enhance" the game expirience for my group. I'm looking mainly for things that dont already exist in HeroQuest (like riddles for example), but anything impressive or fun for the players will do. Gimme ideas wiser GMs
