Can anyone tell me if there is any change in box size with any of the different game system boxes released?

I already know about the US/UK expansion boxes and their difference in size.

Is the advanced edition box bigger due to the dark company? Also, Is there a plastic mold inside the bottom of all game system boxes?

Was as curious about all this....

I have 3 copies of the game including 1 copy of the Advanced Quest release, all are UK versions.

You can see that the Advanced Quest box is bigger. My copy of this also does not have a plastic tray inside the box but I bought this from ebay a few years ago so I don't know if it had when in it when it was new. Everything in this box is in mint condition so I can only assume that there was never one included.

The only difference between the other two boxes appears to be the TM next to the Heroquest logo.

I really need to get me an advanced edition box one day. Love the depth! Looks like it can hold a bunch more.

Now we need someone with a US and a regular EU version to tell us if they are the same size. The contents differ so I wonder if the size was altered?

I got you, Blammo. This American just received his EU Advanced Edition, so here it is with my NA standard edition.


I think we're looking at the same length and width across the board (no pun intended ), just varying heights. I *think* the NA edition looks slightly taller than the EU edition in Road Warrior's pic, but that could be an optical illusion. I measured the height of my American edition: just a bit over 5.5 cm. Forgot to measure the Advanced edition height, though, and I'm not at home now...

My EU Advanced was missing the plastic tray insert, but the eBay seller mentioned it was in there originally. The American edition had three cardboard pieces inside: The large piece with the Armory printed on it; you store the furniture and books underneath. And two smaller cardboard "open-face" boxes to hold dice, miniatures, character sheet pads, etc. I didn't think to take a pic of that for you, but I'm sure there are plenty similar pics here or elsewhere on the interweb.

My Advanced Quest is just slightly taller than the regular American base game. From those photos it looks as if the European box is shorter than the American box.

So it seems the US box is tall like the EU Advanced edition but maybe just a fraction less than it.
The EU reg editions are the shortest in height.

Maybe i will get to big box it one day. I am partial to my original edition case but the advanced ones sure do look puurdy...
