I know the rules say that you can't have more than one of each hero type. Even in the expansions that gave you female mini alternatives, it still explicitly told you that you can't have more than one barbarian or elf.

However, has anyone allowed multiples, anyway? If each player uses a different mini, and spellcasters aren't allowed to have the same spells (for wizards this would require the expansion with the extra spells), would it really cause that much of a problem?

It plays differently, that's all. If you have only Barbarians, the Command spell is your worst enemy.

If you play with four wizard's, a Goblin is.

Thats fun. I recommend it. :-)

I was thinking it'd be kind of neat for each person to play an elf with each one taking a different element.
Name them Kwame, Linka, Gi, and Wheeler.

My kids have doubles of the same type and it plays out just fine. They usually split up anyways.

That's where move, action, move comes in... and archers.

Yes! Darklight and Warhammer Quest introduce "Perks" with rising hero levels. That is, monsters receive special abilities or better stats.
I wouldn't go for better stats, as it would destroy the brand/feeling you have for that monster. But special abilities that reinforce the brand are really nice. Goblins get move action move, skeletons get up after they had been killed... stuff like that.

Is it a general consensus that the game, as written, is too easy? Seems like I hear the last two quest packs are extremely difficult. Is everything until then a cake walk after the heroes are geared up?

No it's not. :-)

WOM is pretty hard, too. So is ATOH.
In Kellar's Keep there are rooms filled with monsters.

The Base Game is slowly ramping the difficulty, with one or two exceptions, and stays a little under the hero level, but that's okay. The game is intended for 10 year old people like me. :-D
For adults, you can ramp the base game up a bit, that's true.

It's just a bunch of 30-40 year old bald, balding, and/or scruffy guys with beards playing wizards on a Sunday afternoon.

We came to the conclusion that the Borin's Armor might need to be made a 4 defense dice only to make it harder lol, but when asked if they want to rule that officially, there was fear of taking away something to their advantage lol. The barb is hard to touch.
