Eh, why? This all depends on positioning of the Heroes when they open this room and how they engage it. The Wizard doesn't necessarily have to be in a tile next to the door, he could also be to the back and cast some buffs on the Heroes. Or, if the Heroes are bold enough, they could burst into the room and start decimating the enemy, leaving room for the Wizard to enter without the monsters being able to reach him.

Yes, the Wizard won't necessarily be diagonal to the door, but what I think Jalepeno is trying to say is by Quest 6, unless the Elf or Dwarf buy a longsword, the Wizard would most likely have the staff from Quest 3 and an experienced group of heroes would utilize the diagonal attack, placing him diagonal to the door.
By the time the heroes reach Grak there's no guarantee that the Wizard wouldn't have already used some of those spells.
There's an awful lot of monsters in Quest 6, so it's likely that the Wizard would need to utilize some of his spells along the way.

The Wizard's staff is a 2 attack, so if you think he knows how to use it, I'd give him a 2 diagonal attack option next time!

For my homebrew rules, I'm giving the Champion level Wizard two black dice attack with that weapon, so in theory I could give the same to the bad guy... ooh, nasty.

Yeah, but the heroes don't find the Wizard Staff until.quest 12.
Prior to a regular staff in North America is only 1 attack dice.

It's an evil staff... an ugly stick. Maybe he just knows how to really use it, and for you it's an ordinary staff? I guess...

I've always played this quest with boss orc just getting his special stats and no diagonal attack. I never considered giving him a diagonal attack... probably because I've played too many games where indiscriminate murder made consumables pop out of dead wolf bodies...

The infamous "Piñata Werewolf" trope.

Yes, odd this. It goes to great length describing both the staff and the cloak. It then goes on to say the wizard can claim the cloak, but there is nothing about the staff. Why have all that detail about him holding it and that it is the same as the one in the armoury if there are no actual game effects. I would say that at the least the Wizard should also be able to claim the staff. I would also allow a 1 dice diagonal attack per the US armoury.

I have redone monsters with weapons, and try to match to models.
So for example Goblins have Hand Axe, Shortsword (allow diagonal), Spear (Models from GWS - allow diagonal) and Bow (GWS).
