The more true to the game it gets the better!
Is there some way we can help you on getting ALL the quests added past witch lord?

Not until I get the quest editor fully functional.

The main things I need are new animations for the Ogres and any other new monsters that appear in the later quests that are in the same style as my current graphics. So if anyone can help with that, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Can you check that the welcome.wav file is in the "hqsprite/speech" folder?

It is there. I tried using both an xp laptop and a windows 7 laptop both to no avail. Downloaded straight from your site. I did find a "patch" on OldScratch that got the game working for me. But it's not the current version it seems.

I'm not sure why the main download didn't work. The patch file is the same as the main HQ file in the full game download.

I'll see if I can find out what's going on.

First I want you to know that I admire your work very much.

It has a good, even "professional", look, it's very playable and all in all a vast and welldone programming job.

But I think you started the thead to get some critical hints to help you improve the game. So when I state my critics, please keep in mind that I like the overall work very much.

I Bug reports:
I encountered a bug(?) only once. When I started quest one (with a barbarian) and killed the second orc in the second room, I could not end the turn, so I was stuck. I could still klick at all icons, open menus etc., but couln'd contiue the game. Dunno if I could repead this bug. Perhaps I was even just overlooking something.

II Hints / ideas:
I would much perfer the movement dice rolled automatically at the begin of the hero's turn. You will roll them anyway each turn. It's not quite intuitive that you have to click on the left stats to roll the dice.
I'd also like to have the Search actions readily available as icons on screen.

III Critics / opinions:
Sorry, but I really don't like the graphic style of the heroes. They're well drawn and animated, but they don't resemble the Heroquest heroes in the least. I'd really, really much prefer them to look more "heroquestish".
(Perhaps I could provide animations, but this would take some time).

Thank you for the praise. I'm glad people are still enjoying this game even though I haven't been actively working on it.

You are right, this thread is for feedback, both good and bad. I've got pretty thick skin so I won't take criticism as a personal insult.

1. I can't say I've ever seen that bug. A bit hard to trouble shoot without more information.

2. I'm not quite sure what you mean about the movement dice not being automatically rolled. They are. Any time you click on the stat box or the hero, the dice are rolled. You don't have to click on the stat box first. As for the Search actions on screen, yes I do agree that they would be better to have on screen rather than as part of the right click on hero options. Until I get around to implementing this, you can use the hot keys "S" (Search for secret doors), "B" (Search for Booby traps) & "T" (Search for treasure). Just press those letters when you have a hero selected to do the action.

3. I did not create any of the animated graphics in the game. These were provided free by the Reiner's Tilesets website. As I cannot draw to save my life, I was limited to using these graphics to provide a consistent look throughout the game. I'm more than happy for anyone to provide additional or improved graphics that are more true to the HQ style.

Please keep the criticisms coming. I won't know what to improve upon unless you guys tell me what you want.
