How about a quest or two where the quest goal is to search everything? "Find x for/to prove/to revenge y in house of z" style of quest. They might want to be protected the right?

Generally I've found that heroes have rather too much than too little gold, once they finished the base game. So I have a big marketplace with everything an adventurer might want.

As an aside, Litko makes miniature base torch stands. https://www.amazon.com/Litko-Game-Acces ... B00M1TRD6C

I could see something like that being useful in this case. Either purchased or crafted.

But what good is all that gold if you're not alive to spend it? Just need more adventurous players I guess.

Finally... after a long wait, the finished product (un-punched). This are a tad smaller than the classic tiles included with the original game, but serviceable enough. They have smooth matte finish.

They came out good, why are they cut though with those round corners?

That's just how they do it. My goal is not to fool anyone that these are not part of the official set, but they are close enough for my purposes and of decent quality.

Most of my custom tiles are just color laser printed on regular paper and glue-sticked (glue-stuck?) to chipboard and cut to size with scissors. I wanted to try out what professionally finished and die cut tiles would look like and this is what BoardGamesMaker came up with (not a sponsored reference there). I also had them do some "double wide" tiles as well, which are slightly larger than the classic tiles (but would be just right for the Remake set).

Many of the tiles used in the official expansions are of custom sizes, and while BGM has the option to create tiles of just about any size you want, unless you are buying them in bulk, they are incredible expensive. I could of course just trim them with a scissors, but at that point, why bother? Just use the scissors or matte cutter on your own stuff.

A fun little experiment. Oh yeah, the reverse side of these tiles is a question mark, which can be used as a marker for various things, like where a searched for trap might be, or a lost weapon, a not fully searched room, etc.

Reverse side of the tiles... again, useful as dungeon markers. More tiles can be found here.

Wow, little beauties!

Yes indeed, lost equipment markers are missing, likewise question mark markers for found traps.

Thanks! I mean, why help the heroes, right? When I play they always grab a spare piece of furniture or skull tile and drop it on the board.

As Zargon I don't slap their hands and say "only I get to touch this stuff!" I just let it go. It never gets out of hand... I can still win! And if they win, there's always the next quest...

As for Equipment packs, the EQP had little piles of weapons & armor on four unique tiles, meant to be used when a Hero turns into a Werewolf and drops their stuff. Oddly there isn't one that really fits the Wizard (I guess it would be a cloak, staff, dagger, etc).

Back to the doorway idea, that's an interesting take, what if you put the Torch IN the doorway... and this lets you see whether a square on the opposite side of an open door is safe?

This might make it OP. At the present time I gave my Ranger the ability to search (ONCE per quest) the search on the opposite side of an open door for traps (just that square... without being in the actual room).

Then again, it's still a free ability, and torches cost gold. Maybe by doing this "action" the entire room is also lit up (revealing anything inside, if it wasn't already). Of course in the NA rules I think you are forced to enter the room once you open the door the first time and have movement left. So maybe that little detail would be superfluous.

If I give the torch the ability to do an infinite number of times what the Ranger can only do once, it would then seem like I'd need to boost his ability. So still thinking about that one. For reference, my version of the Ranger gets 1 skill card each quest. It is used up if you use it to A) Search for Traps AND Secret doors in the same room or corridor even with Monsters present. OR B) search the square on the opposite side of an open door for traps.

The Ranger also has a weaker disarm ability (equal to a Toolkit, without needing to buy one; so only 50% chance of success).
