In tune to the thread listing miniatures that are compatible with HeroQuest. Here's a thread listing Compatible Boards and Tiles from various board games.

  • Advanced HeroQuest - Dewayne Agin wrote a compatibility review for this game, click HERE to read it.

Comes with a variety of modular dungeon tiles that can be used in place of a board. The expansion, Advanced HeroQuest: Terror in the Dark comes with more of the same modular tiles from the game system as well as some new, very large room tiles.

  • Dragon Strike - Dewayne Agin wrote a compatibility review for this game, click HERE to read it.

There are two double-side game boards with this game that are fairly compatible. Boards are: Castle, Cavern, City and Valley. Some of the squares are a bit cramped due to the perspective in which the dividing walls were drawn on some of the boards.

  • Dark World - Dewayne Agin wrote a compatibility review for this game, click HERE to read it.

The set-up isn't ideal, but the board for this could be used for HeroQuest. But the first expansion, Dark World: Village of Fear comes with a cool Village Board complete with buildings that make an excellent addition for a town scenario.

  • Warhammer Quest

Also uses a modular tile system with many different rooms that can be used for a modular game of HeroQuest. The expansions Catacombs of Terror and Lair of the Orc Warlord add more to the game.

  • Dragon Quest comes with a large castle board that is fairly compatible. Some of the squares are a bit cramped due to the perspective in which the dividing walls were drawn.

  • Dungeons & Dragons: The Fantasy Adventure Board Game and its two expansions, Eternal Winter and Forbidden Forest all use a modular system of large square tiles that can be arranged with both interior and exterior locations on them. The squares are roughly the same size as in HeroQuest.

Feel free to inform us about more games with compatible boards and tiles.

For the sake of completion, Warhammer Quest also had some rooms released through White Dwarf.
A sewer, lava-pit, small jail, staircase and a big skaven warp generator room... If I remember correctly.

Battle Masters isn't on your lift drathe. That's got the actual crossbowmen from heroquest in it, an ogre that looks like an HQ ogre as well as many other figures that look like they could have been part of HQ.

This thread is about board tiles, not miniatures.

It's kind of it's own category since it's not a board game, but Dwarven Forge mazes almost seem like they were made for HQ, and they are 3D. Not cheap, but neither are any of the "collectors item" games listed.

For the sake of completeness, a large amount of the HirstArts moulds work great for HQ. Course you are making your own gameboards at that point....
