Unfortunately, among the many cardinal sins I'm committing in this project (such as painting Barbarian and Elf Quest), I also stripped the paint off my original minis intending to repaint them. I ended up using my UK copies of Heroquest and expansions since they have that nice ridge which makes the bases a bit more interesting to paint. So I stripped the originals for nothing. I suppose my son can paint them when he's old enough as his own project. I do have pictures of all those models and those are the ones you are seeing me post.

Here's a little progress pic for the Chaos Warriors. Only the armor has been fully painted up to this point, the rest is still the basecoat. I also repainted the horns with a blend instead of relying on washes to transition the tones. I think I'm going to be really happy with these when they are finished.

Aaaand here's the Chaos Sorcerer! I really enjoyed painting this one, simple but fun. I followed the box art for this one since there is no card art, and of course took liberties with the ball on top. Decided to go for a kind of purple electricity/galaxy thing to mimic the look on the back of the Chaos cards. Not exactly but that was my inspiration. Green glowy eyes to contrast. I'll go back and add a little glow to the sockets to make it more obvious but gotta finish the base first. I'll do a group shot with the warriors when I'm done. Next up I'll finish base coating the Orcs. Then it's just finishing them and the Gargoyle and I'm done with base game figures. (furniture excluded)

They look so great!
Did you think to add some decoration to the sorcerer's tunic?

Nah, going to keep it simple since I'm just going by the base game box art where he's just wearing a grey tunic of sorts. What I might do is pick up more Chaos Sorcerer models at some point and paint them up to be the different ones you encounter throughout the game; for example I can make a Balur that has a fire motif painted on his tunic, etc. I was actually looking into picking up some Talisman 3rd Edition models for that purpose too but may just stick to Chaos Sorcerers.

Haven't had much time to work on the project, but snuck in some painting time tonight. The plastic bases arrived so I was able to attach Sir Ragnar and prime him and get a basecoat on. Went for a muted look since he's a prisoner and all; plus I like to think he was caught doing some forest covert ops near the orc strong hold, so he's in forest camo. Inspiration from Uther Lightbringer for the hair. Gargoyle is mostly base painted, so I'll be finishing the two of them together.
