@ Thor-In: No, the crackle effect simply happened sponatenously - and for no discernible reason - as I explained further up in the thread. Maybe I should have washed the base before spraying, or maybe I didn't shake the spray can enough beforehand. However, in this particular case, it really suits the character, so all's well that ends well.

Oops, I must of missed that in my readings.
You should of just lied to me so it would of made me feel better (not really). :D

Those pics are dead sexy. Loving the "in situ" pics with the game paraphernalia around em. Beautiful work!

@ Thor-in: Haha, don't worry -- it must just have escaped your mind for a second there, is all ;)

@ benvoliothefirst: Thanks a lot! I started photographing my 40k/INQ28 models like that a while ago, then realised that it would be even easier with the HeroQuest models, given the fact that the cards and dice from the game look great. Anyway, glad to hear you like the photos like that! :)

This is a really great thread and you KrautScientist are a very good painter.
I will be using some of your techniques on my models for sure.

It looks very good, especially in the last photo with some special light FX.
I agree the eyes are now better with fire.
And for the base, I know there are some special texture colors, that one used here should be a "craquele effect". You can go searching for "Citadel Texture" or "Valleyo Texture" for more effects (snow, mud....).

Cheers for the comments, guys! :)

@ lestodante: Yeah, I have actually experimented with different kinds of crackle medium in the past, but none of them ever managed to produce an effect as consistently as I would have liked -- which makes it even more infuriating how, in this case, an accident actually ended up producing just the perfect texture ;)

Just a quick and dirty update for today, to show you the Chaos Warriors are now done as well:

Time for another update: First up, here's the Chaos Warrior "glamour shot":

I also thought it might be cool to take a picture of everything I have managed to finish so far, so here goes:

Wow, the Witch Lord looks even better when you see him commanding that lot.

Waiting with bated breath to see your Chaos Sorcerer and Gargoyle.....

It looks amazing, as always! :)

So what's left is the Gargoyle, the remaining Mummies, the Chaos Warlock (the default one of the game), the Goblins and the Fimir, right?

:o Those are absolutely in-creditable  ....
When do you find the time to paint them, I'm having a hard enough time trying to find the time to paint Thantos's Fimir model.
