Thanks for the kind words, everyone! I am happy to hear my Witch Lord conversion is such a hit with you guys! :)

@ Maurice76: Oh my, that is some high praise, indeed ;)

@ Pancho: Thanks a lot!

@ Thor-in: Cheers! You know, I would actually consider it, but the components of the conversion - OOP Dark Elf model included - are just too hard to source. But here's something that may still be helpful for all those who want to kitbash their own Witch Lord: I actually had a "Plan B", as it were -- an original idea for the conversion I would have used before I remembered that old Dark Elf model: It mainly consists of combining bitz from the plastic Empire flagellants and the plastic Skaven Stormvermin to make something like this:##

Image

Now this wasn't intended as a Witch Lord conversion, of course (but rather as a rogue psyker for Warhammer 40k), but I think you can all see how this would serve really nicely as the base for a Witch Lord conversion, and the entire body is just based on parts from the aforementioned kits. You just need to find a suitable head -- most of GW's current plastic Skeletons have a helmet, though, so that wouldn't be much of a problem either. Anyway, hope this helps! :)

@ Spookyhappyfun: Cheers! :)

So here's the finished model:

I am still debating with myself about whether or not to put him on a classic, HeroQuest style base. But the model itself is complete.

And here, once more, is the piece of art that inspired the model:

As always, let me know what you think! :)

Glad you replaced that larger hand with the smaller one. Beautiful color scheme. Great all around!

Are you sure you don't want to open a webshop to sell those models? You'd get a fair number of "shut up and take my money!" people your way, I guess :P.

I'll add my two cents and say you should put your Witch Lord on a Heroquest base. I've lost track of how many times deciding to do that has greatly improved the look of one of my converted figures. If your intention is to use him on a hq game board, I'd suggest putting him on a hq base.

Thanks for the enthusiastic feedback, everyone! I really appreciate it! :)

@ Maurice76 and Thor-In: Hmm, I really don't want any monetary considerations to enter the hobby, because I have a sneaking suspicion that it would just become another job then ;) Plus I am actually pretty terrible at letting go of stuff I have built and painted, which I think wouldn't work all that well in a career as a commission artist ;) Still, thanks for your kind words!

@ Pancho: Gah! You're right of course, it has to be a proper HeroQuest base, or it just wouldn't feel right! Working on it right now ;)

@ lestodante & Flacktron: Cheers, guys!

Sorry for giving you extra work to do! I think it'll be worth it. I'm in the position myself of soon having to go back and rebase ALL my Heroquest models that I didn't put on proper HQ bases at the time. Wish I did it properly the first time!
