Yes, that's a chaos hound from GW. The most spectacular sculpt. Great minis, really.
No, it's not a spanking paddle. It's a spanking paddle ENGRAVED WITH GOLD.
The Chaos Warrior looks so much darker on the table than in this picture! Washed him red, gonna re-wash him black.
The flying thingy I wanted to look like his skin "swallows" every ray of light. I don't know if it looks beautiful, but did I reach that goal?
The barbarian... first time flesh. *lemony goodness* my pants before, during and after. Other things worked well, like the bronze applications. I don't know why he looks so bland, the skin looks much better in real life. Used base color and two highlights and am, well, not satisfied, but also not horrified. The skin on him is the one thing conveyed in the worst way by the picture.
Also, the mane is supposed to be deep deep black. I drybrushed it with a very dark grey. I will probably both it with another highlight, but I'll try on the next black fur mini.
The eyes. Did it exactly as described. Didn't work every time. Maybe it's the brush.
The blood on the zombie is missing because I wanna try a specific paint I don't have yet, Tamiya red.
Thanks for the praise, guys. It means a lot for any new painter, and I am SO open fot it. Without the talents and eyes of y'all I wouldn't even have thought about starting to paint. I just knew you'd have my back. I mean, praise coming from ampersand to me, that's just an honor that almost makes me cry a wee widdle, you know.
Thanks even more, in all seriousness, for the critique, IB and tasoe.
I understand the points really good. These minis won't probably be used in my game as they are wild and bold trial-and-error objects.
Except the fimir and the chaos hound.
What's gonna be used are 300 or 400 other minis. So I need to be fast. As the monster types are gonna be done in batches, i think I'm fast enough already.
Going to put some more work in the details now.
THEE most annoying thing for me is starting with thin basecoats that have to be repeated. A-N-N-O-Y-I-N-G ! I know it has to be done, but I tend to lose patience when the basecoat color is so wet that it blurts all over the recesses and I have to suck it way again with my brush and put somewhere else where it wouldn't stick.
I understand it's just my patience that's the problem, but...
any tips for thinning paint? I use the new Citadel paints mostly and thin them with water.
