Great paint job Knightkrawler.
Which line of orcs are those? Are they old GW?

The manufacturer was Rackham, the game was Confrontation. The figures themselves are Orc Brutes.
There's no saying how awesome that company and their products would be today, hadn't they made the dumbest decision ever in 2006.
At that point everybody loved their metal miniatures, detailed and full of character as they were (http://rackhamminiatures.yolasite.com/; have fun!), and then they went and wanted to compete with GW's games instead of just minis.
They completely focussed on the game itself (before that it was a good game, with the second biggest market share) and went from these metal minis to prepainted plastics.
It goes without saying they went belly up in no time.

I am an afficionado of the line and you will see many more painted up for HeroQuest to come.
At some point, a few size comparison pictures are in order. These Orcs are pretty freakin' bulky and they will replace the Fimir in the original quests, themselves to be replaced by Beastmen. I'll rewrite the quests anyway, so I can accomodate for these changes just as well.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

Anderas, in case you're interested in the how: I merely basecoated silver over black (you might want to choose a darker metallic, maybe mix in a touch of black or dark blue/green(brown), then washed and glazed with brown and black inks, then did some rust (too little, I'm afraid) and the scratches. I will probably go back to these at some point and improve the metals.

Thanks for the link. I'd never heard of them before. Some interesting minis they have. Just been on ebay and some are for sale on there.

Next: Skeletons, also Confrontation models. For anyone interested, by Rackham they were not named Skeletons, but Morbid Puppets.
They perfectly suit my special rule for Skeletons: diagonal attacks, as all of them wield spears or long swords of some kind.
I forgot to dirty up the shield in the soil, but there's a great batch of pigments coming on.

I have the rackham goblin pirate set, the cycloptic troll, and the huge fat goblin king, as well as a few odd dwarves. They really are awesome sculpts, I never got around to painting them and now they are OOP and worth a small fortune, I am to scared too!

I'm not... the details, man. It's so much fun to try things out with all of these.

While I'm not one to make a log entry on every little step I take, today was significant.
Late shift for me means I get to bed around 12AM and have to get up again at 6AM to get the kid ready for school. My cadaver tells me I need 8 hrs of sleep, so mostly I get back to bed again when I'm tired, which often means I'll sleep from 9AM through 11AM.

That's fraggled up. My body actively keeps lying to me.

Today, after reading Harry's response to my lack of inclination in his own thread, I pulled through, didn't get to bed again, sat down and painted for 3 hrs.
I feel slightly invigorated now (although my eyes are punishing me for my insolence) and am well aware that I don't have to do this every day, but at least twice or thrice a week.
Thank you, Harry, for the reminder.

I did get 13 red marble bases, 3 green marble bases, and a Hero done, the Caerscout, who is derived from the Dwarf, and is in fact, a Dwarf.
Almost finished:
- Sellsword (female Hero from Darksword)
- Guildmage (female Hero from Darksword)
- 2 Golems (1 asleep, 1 awakened; Confrontation models to replace the Gargoyle)
Started:
- Marauder (male Hero from Avatars of War)
- 4 Reavers (Confrontation Skeletons in heavy armor to replace the Mummies)

So, let this be a log entry withoput pictures which I hope I'll take on the weekend.

Technically, you need two cycles of sleep per day, together or seperate. THis is not necesseraly eight hours. In my case, it's often six or seven hours due to my age.
